The E-Mind: How to Think Like an Entrepreneur and Gain an Exponential Advantage

Rate this book
“Sorry, you’re on your own.”Six days before my first international cycling trip, my five friends informed me they were all canceling. I now had a choice. Would I drop too or fly to the heart of the Tour de France and bike some of the hardest mountains in the world all by myself?

After a few hours of soul-searching and encouragement from my wife, I decided to go anyway—without a plan, a friend, or even a place to stay. I had no idea the adventures that awaited, only that I had to tap into The E-Mind™ and think like an entrepreneur in order to survive. The same Ten Traits that helped me thrive as an entrepreneur became the secret weapon to help me summit over a dozen mountain tops.

In today’s marketplace, everyone is an entrepreneur.
Unfortunately, most people don’t know how to think like one. Some believe entrepreneurs make up 4% of the population. They think this minority is brave and bold—focused on start-ups, investors, and risk. This may be the classic definition, but the truth is every single person is a brand and runs a company of one. It’s your responsibility to create value, and if you fail to deliver, chances are you’ll find yourself without a job.

Some reject identifying as an entrepreneur, claiming employee status instead. But even if you work for an employer, you choose to align yourself with that sub-brand. Do something out of alignment, and you’ll quickly find out you’re no longer a brand match.

Time to accept the facts. On some level, you’re an entrepreneur. And everyone in every industry would do better by thinking like one. In The E-Mind™, you’ll learn how

Exchange fear and anxiety for peace and confidence by changing the rules of the gameTap into the Ten Traits that help entrepreneurs create more success in work and lifeExperience freedom—to go as you please, finances—to earn as you like, and fulfillment—to live as you like
Stop leaving things to chance and circumstance. Take back control of your future. Think like an entrepreneur and gain an exponential advantage starting today!

This incredible guide encouraged me to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, regardless of my career path. I was looking for a motive to start my dream business and this book helped me, the authors from their own experiences, illustrate how thinking like an entrepreneur can transform personal and professional challenges into opportunities for growth, and that's what really motivates me. Through this narrative, Oberbrunner introduces the Ten Traits of entrepreneurial thinking, which are essential for success in today's competitive environment where everyone acts as their own brand and that was the thing I liked the most. This book emphasizes that thinking like an entrepreneur involves more than just managing a business, it's about embracing risk, innovation, and self-reliance to create value and achieve freedom and fulfillment

This book, crafted with enthusiasm and understanding, encourages us to embrace a business-oriented way of thinking that empowers everyone, regardless of whether they're part of a corporate environment or venturing into entrepreneurship. I'm fascinated by how, from the very start, the book urges you to reassess your beliefs about achievement and career paths. The authors effectively argue that embracing an entrepreneurial mindset doesn't just grant you greater autonomy over your destiny but also unveils hidden talents you might not have recognized before.

Personally, The E-Mind has been a revelation to me and has been very helpful, as it is full of insightful advice backed by fascinating anecdotes that kept me thinking even after I closed its pages. I am deeply grateful to the authors for the wonderful material they have produced. This book is more than recommended!

E-Minds find a way to win.
This book takes you on a journey of taking your entrepreneurial mindset into almost everything you do to maximize the profitability of your own life. The author takes us along his journey using their real-life experiences and how having an entrepreneurial mindset has helped them win in life. Bringing out your creativity in your personal life helps transition between work and personal time, which some might think is unhealthy. Still, combining them and being happy masterfully will bring you great potential joy in life. This book is like that powerful morning motivation that helps you set your mindset on being a winner starting early in the morning. The book gives a lot of great advice. I like the section about keeping the goal but still being flexible with your plan; it teaches how to be creative and helps you with growth and decision-making.

I highly recommend this book; it is an amazing guide that redefines entrepreneurship and makes it accessible to everyone. It is great how the book begins with the author's personal challenge of deciding to embark on a solo cycling trip in France after his friends cancelled. This experience frames his argument that adopting an entrepreneurial mindset is crucial, not just for business owners but for anyone who wants to excel and create value in their life. Being an entrepreneur is hard but this book is a great tool to succeed in this process, and even if you have a traditional employment, you will also start thinking like a business owner. These traits include transforming fear into confidence and achieving freedom in various aspects of life such as movement, finances, and personal fulfillment.

incredibly inspiring

The book showed me a moving story about personal growth and adventure. I felt every second with the protagonist. It also contains insights on entrepreneurial thinking and mindset. To me the author's decision to embark on a challenging cycling trip alone feels like a metaphor. It seems like a metaphor for the entrepreneurial journey and the importance of resilience and determination. I appreciate how practical this book is crafted. The concept of "The E-Mind™" and the Ten Traits of successful entrepreneurs offer amazing advice and strategies. Especially for individuals seeking to thrive their professional and personal lives. I found this book to be incredibly inspiring and informative read for those interested in entrepreneurship and self-improvement.

A book to change your mindset.

The book talks about entrepreneurship and the mindset you must have to succeed but connects it in an impeccable way through the personal story of the author, who, at some point in his life, embarked on a bicycle trip around the world and was abandoned by his friends; so, he had to make his way not only by how he handled the situation but also by how he controlled his mind.

The author proposes the idea that whether we want to or not, all of us -absolutely all of us-, are entrepreneurs and we have the potential to have an E mind. If we train ourselves with this book, we will be able to face dark feelings and sensations such as anxiety, fear, uncertainty and change them into action and movement. If you are looking for an inspirational and motivational text, this is perfect for you!

This book changed the way I look at technology.

From the first page, the author explores and explains how technology shapes our thoughts and lives from another perspective. It is a narrative that becomes like a science fiction thriller in the sense that it delves into the implications of artificial intelligence and digital connectivity, showing in part a warning and on the other hand a reflection that can become philosophical.
What I liked most about this book is that it shows sides from virtual realities to ethical dilemmas that challenge humanity and that we are witnessing more and more closely.
This writing is eye-opening. It offers an exciting plot and a deep insight into how technology is reshaping society and changing our mindset to blind us and separate us from our own reality. I recommend it 100%.

I had a special connection with this book because I share one of the main statements of it, the entrepreneurial mindset isn’t only for a professional matter but at the same time for any life or field aspect. Oberbrunner created a practical guide for everyone to apply entrepreneurial thinking in their life.
Also in the book, you’ll find valuable advice and exercises to build this mindset in all aspects of your life and find different characteristics that define a successful entrepreneur. If you think that entrepreneurial thinking is a skill you need to acquire and practice, you are looking for growth and learning, and are ready to take action, this is the book you need to read. Don’t hesitate to read it if you don’t consider yourself an entrepreneur, because as the book says, the e-mindset should be applied to all aspects of your life.

This is a book about what it is to be an entrepreneur. Most people think they already have some idea of what that means, but their perception is very little like reality. Author Kary Oberbrunner knows about the entrepreneurial spirit only too well. In this comprehensive, easily approachable book, she explains how you can tap into the mindset that you will need to conquer the many obstacles that await you as you take the steps toward achieving your eventual business goals.

Oberbrunner posits that there are Ten Traits that you can follow that will get you to where you want to be. You must have discipline and courage, but if you can learn to apply the Ten Traits to your every venture, success is within your reach.

In the book The E-Mind: How to Think Like an Entrepreneur and Gain an Exponential Advantage the author Kary Oberbrunner tells us that when one is an entrepreneur the unknown appears without having clear answers, where the stakes are high and also that no one will go to save you. For this reason, she guides us with very clear data and explanations based on her experience as a cyclist in the Tour de France, that we need to develop certain skills such as: Flexibility, Taking Risks, Teachability, Resourcefulness, Tenacity, etc. All of these crucial skills are part of the entrepreneurial mindset and can be used to boost yourself as an entrepreneur. If you are interested in overcoming the risks to start your own company, this is the book for you.

This book narrates a personal story; a few days before going on an international cycling trip, the author’s friends cancel, leaving him with a choice of dropping the trip or having the adventure of his lifetime to the heart of France, biking some of the world’s toughest mountains solo. He chose the latter, relying on what he calls The E-Mind a set of traits that helped him thrive as an entrepreneur.

This narrative helped me understand that whether you’re a startup founder, an employee, or a freelancer, you’re running your own brand and company therefore your thoughts and actions need to align with an entrepreneur's if you want to succeed! This was a great book that encouraged the reader to lose their fears and just go with it! Highly recommended.

Along the pages, I read about personal narratives with practical advice that aim to motivate business owners. I like the fact that the authors offer clarity in every insight. They present real-world strategies for readers to implement entrepreneurial thinking in both their personal and professional lives. While reading, I felt encouraged to grip my fears and to think out of the box and think creatively. I see it as a highly useful tool to anyone looking to improve his or her future and unlock personal potential in today's competitive marketplace.

What caught my attention at first glance was the determination of the author, who writes passionately about entrepreneurship. But not the typical business owner, Oberbrunner refers to the mindset behind it. For him, everyone is an entrepreneur at some level and should act like one.
I bought this book as I struggle with decision-making and normally tend to go with the flow instead of making the decisions I should be making about my future. Self-doubt is around the corner, but luckily a friend recommended this book, I think the author makes valid points and knows what he's talking about. Of course, it is easier said than done, but I consider this book to be a great start in the challenging process of changing your mindset.

Change of Perspective

This book teaches us the importance of taking on challenges from an individual point of view, so that all those who want to undertake, land the concepts but also change their mentality. From the perspective of cycling, the author shows us the challenges that we must assume not only in business but in life. It all starts with an unexpected cancellation that Kary receives and the way she decides to assume this situation from the beginning. As the author himself says, the book is made for those of us who prefer exemplification to get to the concepts and visualize things.

Definitely, this book is inspiring and very well exemplified with respect to its pretensions.

There is a lot of talk about entrepreneurs and ventures; there are some that achieve success and others that, although they try with great desire and effort, do not succeed and fade away. However, what makes some people entrepreneurial and others not? According to the authors, Kary Oberbrunner and Lynne Modranski, there are ten traits that help everyone think like an entrepreneur in order to survive.
What I liked most about this installment is that the book is divided into two parts, the first is about how to think like an entrepreneur, and the other analyzes in each chapter the 10 traits that help an entrepreneur prosper. Each chapter is undoubtedly a valuable source of information for the reader.

This is a very entertaining book about entrepreneurship; I really appreciate its organization in three parts where the reader can easily find the information.
I really liked the comparisons and metaphors with moments of everyday life, this interweaving of true stories and theory gives it an extra touch and makes it even more captivating.
I found the fact that the author shows statistics about entrepreneurs around the world fantastic. Far from seeming unnecessary or even boring, it really grabbed my attention.
“The E-Mind” was a transformative book from which I learned a lot so I strongly recommend it. Regardless of whether you're deep in the business world, it's an enjoyable read.

We are all entrepreneurs.

I think this book shows us a brilliant and enlightening perspective about how each person's reality can be. It poses a scenario where we are all entrepreneurs in some way. This point of view offers a great freedom but also a great responsibility.
The E-Mind is a moving journey in which invites the reader to develop their entrepreneurial thinking and discover how to apply their personal and professional life. I liked it because it is easy to read, and also it is entertaining and very reflexive at the same time.
I recommend it to those who need a boost to overcome obstacles and improve their life because it is different and resfhesing! I enjoyed it.

This book is a reliable guide for entrepreneurs. It is a treasure of uncommon insight revealed by Oberbrunner.

It has a simple narrative; a book with a distinct introduction and ten chapters making up its body, with the last chapter revealing plenty of useful information.

This is a book loaded with knowledge, principles, directions, and basic life principles to achieve success. It discusses simple and practical ways to do business and start almost with nothing and go on to great heights of success. It is a delight or any businessman and businesswoman.

I like the way the author speaks to us, using clear and concise concepts for us to grasp quickly.

The book is framed around a compelling personal narrative of a solo cycling adventure, effectively paralleling the entrepreneurial journey. It emphasizes the universal applicability of entrepreneurial traits, arguing convincingly that in today’s dynamic job market, thinking like an entrepreneur is not just beneficial but necessary. While some may find the broad application of entrepreneurial traits to all workers a stretch, the book provides valuable insights into achieving greater workplace autonomy and success. A motivational guide for fostering an entrepreneurial spirit in any professional context.

"The E-Mind" is a story about a bicycle trip, but also a legend that challenges our traditional conceptions of entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency. The book chronicles the author's unexpectedly lonely adventure through a journey that begins with disappointment and transforms into a revealing journey of self-discovery and improvement.
One of the book's strengths is how it integrates the principles of entrepreneurship into a travel narrative. What I liked most is how the author breaks down the Ten Traits of a successful entrepreneur, applying them not only to business, but to everyday situations and personal challenges. I highly recommend reading it.

Great book

The E Mind is a good book about finding your inner strength and confidence in the world of business and entrepreneurship. I like the way this book is written, in an easy to read, conversational way, with a lot of comparisons to biking and participating in the Tour de France. Also, as the author is a former pastor, there is a lot of Jesus interwoven in the advice and lessons contained in the book, but not in a preachy way. Overall, this is a good book to read, and the author seems like a likable guy. I would recommend it for readers looking for inspiration and motivation to become better versions of themselves.

This book also presents unique like mastering independence, flexibility, and risk and 10 core believes that are great ideas presented by the author.
