My name is Nora Black, and I'm having a very merry messy midlife Christmas!
Fifties are the new forties and I'm living my best life ever. I may have a few more aches and pains, graying roots, and couple extra pounds, but I also have two quirky best friends who always have my back, business is booming, and my love life has never been better or hotter.
That is until my sweetie Ezra Holden invites me home for Christmas to meet his family.
The season is full of surprises in Ezra's hometown, like a missing cousin, a case of mistaken identity, and a slew of painful memories—none of them my own.
This Holden Family Holiday should be filled with scents of peppermint, gingerbread, and pine, but all I smell is danger. It turns out my psychic nose really is the gift that keeps on giving.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.

Aroma Holiday Nora Black series Author: Renee George
Ezra (Easy) a detective in Golden Cove and Nor Black (part time sleuth and psychic and part time maker of soaps and lotions) are headed to Thorny Creek Inn, a beautiful B and B close to Ezra's old gw time, for her first meeting with his family. Given that he's nineteen years you get than her, Nora's a little nervous, bit nothing can prepare her for the chaos that is his family. This will be one helluva Christmas for them as cousins are kidnapped, fights between family break out and Aunt Lorena is the interfering relative you never wanted. This instalment in the series is terrific, and Nora's special skills come in more than handy. I loved the various characters in the family, the force and at the Inn. It's fraught with danger, fear, complicated dynamics and laughter. I'd love to see the series expand with the in-laws.
This is the first Nora Black story that I have read and it was great! Nora has a special power, she 'hears' things from the past when a significant scent is smelled. She has worked with the local police department, and her partner works for them. NB, he is quite a bit younger than her. It's Christmas, and Nora has accompanied her partner, Ezra, to spend the holiday with his family. One member of whom goes missing on their second day. More about the mystery and family shenanigans than the festivities, this is actually a really good story, which had me laugh out loud a few times, and I didn't guess the denouement. Well-written with terrific characters. Recommended.
Aroma Holiday: A Nora Black Midlife Psychic Mystery, Book 7 by Renee George was such a wonderful holiday story! This is one of my favorite series. I never seem to get enough of Nora and her adventures. I really loved the fact that this book centered around Ezra's family and getting to know all of them. And they did not disappoint!! Thank you so much Renee George for continuing this series! Love it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Stopping for the best pork tenderloin sandwich can be a messy situation. Nora and Erza stop for a bite and get more than just a sandwich. Erza sees his soon to be ex-brother-in-law with his female cousin as things gets messy.
It will be a Christmas gathering not to be missed. A fun charming read for Nora to handle.
Nora and Ezra are spending Christmas with his family. Nothing to worry about except meeting the parents for the first time, wondering how they’ll react to their age difference, oh, and a theft and attempted murder. Just a typical weekend for Nora. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it is my new favorite in the series.
Wow o wow do I love this series!! Ezra is taking Nora to his hometown to meet his whole family. What could go wrong? Well in pure Nora Black fashion a LOT!! With mystery and mayhem a foot can they solve this crime before Christmas? Will Ezra’s family accept Nora?
Easy and Nora head to his folks for Christmas and of course things don’t go smoothly. There is a reason Easy hasn’t been back for years. Emotions flare and of course danger intrudes but nothing will stop Nora and Easy from having a terrific holiday. I loved how Nora handled Aunt Lorena. Fun, fun, fun.
Nora Black and Ezra Holden were reluctantly driving to his hometown so Nora could meet his family at Christmas. He hadn’t been back there for 9 years. She already knew she would be standing outside in the cold to watch the Santa Parade that his parents would insist on attending. With his parents only a few years older than she was, Nora was worrying the 19-year age difference between Ezra and her might be an issue. But Ezra told her if anyone said or did something to make her uncomfortable, they would immediately leave. Entering the restaurant they stopped at for lunch, Nora’s psychic gift activated as people’s scent-related memories came into Nora’s mind. She couldn’t see the face of each memory’s owner, but she was used to it after 2 years of this and concentrated on her own memories instead.
Ezra caught a glimpse of a couple at another table and scowled. It was his brother-in-law Rob but his date was NOT Ezra’s sister. The woman was Ezra’s cousin, Penny Carlson. Neither wanted to answer Ezra’s questions but Rob and Penny left without violence erupting. But as Ezra and Nora got up to leave, they saw Penny and a man in the parking lot arguing. He pushed her and she fell backwards. She got up with a handful of gravel as the man ran away.
Arriving at his parents’ house, Ezra introduces Nora to his mom. Penny had told him his dad was sick, but he was out getting extra silverware etc for the Christmas dinner. With the tension and strong emotions already mounting, would the dinner celebration turn explosive? Or would at least most of the family accept Nora as the woman Ezra loved? And would they be able to resolve all the strange issues going on? You will love the twists and turns that keeps the reader wondering what will happen next. But no matter where this holiday takes them, Nora and Ezra are always there for each other. What better outcome could you wish for?
this fast paced whodunnit is jam packed with extra twists and turns, and all the landmines of holidays with the family of your significant other
it seems that some folks notice the age difference between Ezra and Nora, and not everyone takes it in stride.
the rough edges of many relationships come to light, and as often is the case in this series, midlife experience and perspectives can help gain insight into some situations.
how much wine or goodies might Nora Black need in order to keep from making spirited replies? not enough chocolate in the world for quite all contingencies, is there?
as usual, things get action packed, and both Nora and Ezra show off their skills
a crazy series of adventures as an adult visiting aging parents with the additional baggage that separated and divorced adults and their children bring - and more crime and detective adventures
I really love the humorous romance between Ezra and Nora, that somehow includes joking elements alongside verbal/emotional support as well as opportunities for Ezra to brag about what a great shot Nora is. So happy for Nora that they've got each other's backs - neat to read in all its variety of situations
Nora was right to fear meeting with Easy's family. Drama, many emotions, and danger seemed to be the order of the day. Liked how Ezra constantly reaffirmed Nora and made her feel important. Learned more about Easy's background and his family role in his life and was very funny to see Nora 'facing the witch'. Smart and witty! Loved the suspense. It is not the same when the problematic situation touches closely and affects your significant other, as Nora could see. Many things happened and doubt, worry, fear and violence seemed to complicate everything. As ever, things were not easy for Nora. There were emotional moments that made me feel with the protagonists and unexpected twists that made me very curious. Nora has been through a lot, but this is the first time, in my opinion, that I have seen her and Easy on a more intimate emotional level, more attuned and confident in their relationship. Of course, the drama seems to be coming with Gilly and I can't miss it. These women are out of this world when it comes to their friendship and support. This has been one of the best stories, if not the best, that I have read in the series. Like it when besides action, intrigue, suspense, funny situations and romance, there are also strong emotions involved. Kudos to the author!
Ezra decided to take Nora to meet his family at Christmas time. Although not seemingly close to is family, this was something he needed to do it seems. Things seem strained with the whole family being there and Ezra's mother's oldest sister Lorena having a sarcastic, nasty mouth toward Nora. And things go from annoying to bad to worse when we have everything from assaults to kidnappings. And Ezra's sister who he used to be close to is estranged from her husband a deputy. But everything seems to get hairy when Ezra's cousin gets kidnapped and his sister gets run off the road and is take too, it is up to Nora and her ability to sense things to help rescue them with Ezra. There was so much drama, and family dynamic that gets in the way. But why were they kidnapped and what did the kidnapper want? I love the relationship between Ezra and Nora. This book has so many twists and turns and skeptics and Ezra's nasty aunt that it is fun to read right through. And then Nora gets his with announcement that Gilly is engaged! But it hits her funny and she feels she should be happier for one of her best friends than she is. I can't wait to see what happens next! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
This was my first book in the series, so I enjoyed the premise of Nora's special ability. This book had just the right amount of everything for me - mystery-crime-violence, romance, warm family and friends.
Also, three cheers for the older woman-younger man relationship that is committed and comfortable, not requiring marriage to make it concrete.
I loved how characters, who are earlier skeptical of Nora's psychic skill, become open enough to use her ability to their advantage. I think that is the ultimate acceptance and respect.
The book was entertaining and an easy read for me. I started with book 7 in the series, so it was obvious that old characters like Gilly and Pippa and others would be mentioned, but without much detail. That only served to make me curious enough to want to read the series from the very beginning. Alas, the books are not on Kindle Unlimited.
There are just a very few copyediting oversights here and there, and they didn't take away from my reading experience.
Ezra takes Nora home for Christmas and it seems before they can get to his families home something throws Ezra into a situation with his cousin and brother in-law. They spend an exciting and frightening couple of days before Christmas with lots of fun but unfortunately a robbery, assault, kidnapping, car crash, murder, suspense, romance, rescue, and love. As a close nit family the Holden's will do whatever they need too especially since they have never had a kidnapping in their family before and Ezra's aunt and uncle are very upset but the oldest sister Lorena seems to cut her with her witty insults . Nora is the key although some are skeptics like Ezra's brother in - law deputy Rob since one of the two people kidnapped are both related to Ezra, but someone was listening who left an important clue. One person was listening and helped them find a to find them. I read a copy via BookFunnel without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.
Time to meet the family. A Christmas visit. Great time of year everyone is happy. What could go wrong? What couldn't?
She was worried his parents wouldn't accept the age difference. She didn't want to get into her abilities. When a family member goes missing there isn't much choice. Will her abilities help? Especially since the missing person is just the beginning.
There is non-stop intrigue. Is it possible that even though there are so many problems it could turn out to be a Merry Christmas anyway? Plenty of new characters, family, and friends. Some unforgettable characters--no matter how hard Nora tries--renewed friendships, and new friendships. I read it in one sitting it was just that good.
It's the holidays, and Easy and Nora are headed to Easy's family for a visit. It should be fun and stress free. But then Easy's cousin disappears after they see her in an altercation. Now Easy, Nora and her nose are working with the town's police department to find Penny before it's to late.
I love this series so hard! Nora and her magical nose are fabulous. Add in Easy and all of their hometown crew, and this is a series I love to read and re-read.
Many thanks to the author and Bookfunnel for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.
Mystery / Christmas / Holiday / Paranormal / Midlife / Age Gap / Homecoming ⭐⭐⭐/5
The FMC Nor Black is a psychic who sees things when she smells things, a very interesting take. Nora and Ezra return to Ezra's hometown for Christmas and things don't go great.
The mystery aspects had me flip-flopping, everything felt very slow for there being a missing girl. Overall the mystery of it all played out okay. My biggest problem with this book is I get annoyed by family members but allowing a family member to be outright rude to your partner over and over again, tainted the whole story for me.
Ezra is taking Nora home to meet the parents and celebrate Christmas with his family. Things are very strained between Ezra and his mom due to choices he made in high school. It was interesting to see Ezra as anything other than calm and collected. In the midst of all the tension, Ezra’s cousin Penny goes missing. Nora is able to use her psychic nose to help ferret out clues. The mystery was good and took a few surprising turns. Since the story takes place in Ezra’s hometown there are not a lot of scenes with the usual group – Pippa and Gilly and I missed them. Nora’s found family is more fun than the family Ezra was born with. I highly recommend this book and series.
This is another great story in this series. Nora and her younger boyfriend Ezra take a visit to his parent's at Christmas. Nora is skeptical about whether or not Ezra's family will approve of their relationship but, of course, they love each other so no matter what they will be together. When Ezra's cousin goes missing, Nora and Ezra go all in to solve the mystery. As hours go by and Penny (the cousin) is not found, more goes wrong. Nora wins over all Ezra's family as she along with Ezra help solve the mystery of what's going on in Hillside. Lovely story.
If you're not a fan of the show Psych, you should be. It's a fantastic buddy comedy with a "Psychic" twist. This book would have been easier to swallow if it took the same approach to the MC's Psychic abilities. The way her abilities worked was hard for me to get past, but if you can get past it, the story is cute. The relationship between the two main characters is youthful and fun. Together they solve a mystery that is very close to home. Took had a slow start, I was able to walk away from the book up until chapter 17. After that I was hooked!
It’s that time of year where I hunt through the hundreds of books I own and haven’t read that are Christmas related! This has been my favorite by far this year! The craziness in this book but it’s so full of emotions and deep feelings that your heart melts. All the deep moments are lightened by zany humor, cantankerous aunts and of course mayhem that comes will all cozy mysteries! Read the book! Embrace the holiday read! Fantastic from start to finish and can be read as a standalone!
What a wonderful series!!! I can't get enough of Nora and her adventures and this one definitely get you into the holiday spirit with a bit of mayhem on the side. I really enjoyed that this book centered around Easy family. Lots of twists and turns to keep you hooked from beginning to end. Overall just a great read. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.
I love this series! When Nora goes home with Easy to spend the holidays with his family, you know there's going to be a mystery. Nora is concerned that his family will be upset about their age difference. His aunt certainly makes her feelings known and Nora actually handles it with hilarity. I enjoyed how they grew to accept Nora's contributions to the investigation and respected their relationship.
A short and sweet story perfect for the holiday season mixed with a little thriller/true crime. Picked this one up during Stuff Your Kindle day. I didn’t know it was a part of a series. You don’t need to read the others before. The author did a great job explaining details from the other books so the reader understands the plot. I really enjoyed this one, and see the other books in this series are just as short. Maybe I’ll read the other ones.
Nora is going home with Ezra to meet his family. Ezra’s cousin Penny seems to be in the middle of a mystery. She is seen arguing with a mysterious Santa and later disappears. Scents are triggering many memories of Ezra’s family. Some of the memories are sweet and others are a bit hard to get through. There are several twists and turns to this story that I didn’t expect but kept me reading! Looking forward to watching Nora and Ezra’s relationship grow.
Don’t miss out on this Christmas adventure for Nora and Ezra as they head to see his family for the holidays. Everyone has crazy family members, right? Read on to find out how crazy! Love this series!!
Ezra takes Nora home for the holidays and we get to enjoy meeting his family and seeing all the sometimes messy shenanigans they get into. Add in a kidnapping to solve and you have an even more fun story.
This series is so good and just keeps getting better and better with each book! This book was full of interesting characters, an intriguing mystery, family drama, and a bit of romance. I loom forward to reading the next book!
Couldn't put this one down. Great character development, some people you just love and some you can hate. A trip down memory lane and a holiday reunion turn into a real frightening crime scene .
Couldn't put it down loved the characters and the storyline the whole series is wonderful and can't wait to read more so it's a well deserved five and I would recommend this book/series to everyone
an enjoyable story. will look for more of her. extremes are contained; literary boundaries safe enough, and characters believable. seems to be lots of the author's self in this one.
