Kana spent his life hiding from those who might take advantage of his power. Now that he’s living with his lover, werewolf Alpha Ember, hiding is impossible. However, living in the open means accepting the inherent risks. Kana hopes he and Ember together are strong enough to survive whatever might come. Then a new witch moves to town.
Dealing with the witch should be the most important thing for Kana, the pack, and their allies, but something else is lurking in the shadows—something dark, and evil, whose only goal is to destroy everything Kana holds dear.
When Mell Eight was in high school, she discovered dragons. Beautiful, wondrous creatures that took her on epic adventures both to faraway lands and on journeys of the heart. Mell wanted to create dragons of her own, so she put pen to paper. Mell Eight is now known for her own soaring dragons, as well as for other wonderful characters dancing across the pages of her books. While she mostly writes paranormal or fantasy stories, she has been seen exploring the real world once or twice.

Witch is the third book in Mell Eight’s Witch’s Circle series and it follows a continuing story. Things are recapped pretty well here from past events, but I do think this one works better when read as part of a series. I think Eight’s strength here continues to be the magical world building and the books have some unique takes on the way magic works. We get a good window into Kana’s mind as he performs his various spells and I find the process interesting and nicely developed. Kana is also building a nice community after having to go so long on his own. It started with the wolves, then the hunters, and now the witches. So I appreciate seeing that growth for him as he becomes part of a larger supernatural group who work together and have each other’s backs.

Summary: Kana was on the run from his coven until he finally found a home in a wolf pack with his lover Alpha Ember. Ember tried to keep him hidden but between fighting the supernatural being that threaten all he holds dear and his unusually strong abilities that is becoming more difficult to hide.
A new coven moves in next door without anyone knowing they are coming. Their first interaction is a show of force against Kana, but to their surprise the coven looses taxing the coven leader and Kana to tax their abilities. And that is only the start as the local Hunter Pack, Alpha Ember’s pack and the witch coven find themselves in the cross hairs as s new danger arrives placing them all in danger.
While keeping to the short novella type form of the books of the rest of the series, this book does bring everything around to a full and satisfying conclusion.
Kana now lives openly as a witch, as mate of a wolf pack, and as an ally of the Hunters. He is happy in his personal life with Ember and learning to embrace being an alpha mate. His work with the Hunters is interesting, and is teaching more about a side he never got to know. And his magic and his bond with his familiars, Mika and Sora, is strong. Despite all things magic is the one part of his life that he is closed off from. This is shown even more when a new coven moves into town to claim the area as their own at the same time that a sorcerer attacks the Hunters with a demon. Kana is facing a threat to his magic and his people and he needs to not fight with the other witches to keep everyone safe.
This story did a really good job at filling in those last remaining details of the past. We truly have a full story of Kana's life before he got to where he is, as well as how he has grown his power and worked things out for himself. Seeing him in the present being a Ember and the pack, as well as having good friendships working with the Hunters really shows how far he has come. With a new magical power in play there are questions answered, some to an unexpected extent that show more to the whole story than previously revealed. It also seems to finally settle Kana's place in the world. It was a truly satisfying and well fitting ending to this sweet little series.
Nice! I think I was a bit unfair in my first review - while there is romance (and yes, sex) the story is very centered around Kana and how he found his place and a work that he likes and a man who loves him just the way he is. Mostly in this last book which is what really proves it's only one part of the equation. I think the short format was what made it... It's something over 100 pages which is enough for a simple plot, no unnecessary frills but it cuts off the overall character arc (not that he changed much) and I can absolutely image this being put in just one book. With some minor changes, I can even image making a seamless transition between them to make a 'real' book, which is to say the story makes more sense once I finished the trilogy. The characters were also less flat over the course of the three books, which was another complaint of mine so in conclusion, I might just like this one and may see what else she wrote.
Together with Ember, his wolf, and familiars, Mika and Sora, Kana has settled into his happy place. At peace finally with his past, learning new magic, and strengthening his incredible powers. Then witches threaten him, hunters question his validity, and a warlock tests his abilities to their limit. Just another day in the life of this special man.
I’ve said before that this author writes incredibly appealing books. Imagination and great storytelling are a hallmark of their work. Good characters who fight the odds to get their happy ever after. Beings of myth and mystery who I would definitely want to know if they were real.
This book reads like the end of this series. I’ve enjoyed it. I would read Shannon and Marc’s story in a heartbeat.

I’ve read all 3 of these books. I loved the first one. The premise was intriguing and ended on a good open ended cliffhanger that was addressed in the second book. This third installment though felt thin by comparison. The first half of the book was just a lot of rehashing about characters and their background which in itself is fine, but the remained of the book was light on details and felt rushed. The villain was just ‘meh’. The plot point of the other witches and the hunters were also ‘meh’. There could have been a been more intrigue and action to this book.
Having said that, I did enjoy reading the series. I just wish it had a bit more details and a bit more oomph.
Witch by Mell Eight is the third book in the Witch’s Circle series. It had been a while since I read the first two books, but as soon as Mika and Sora, Kana’s cats, came on page the events of the first two stories came flooding back in my memory. It was fun to see Kana settled down with a job and lover and no longer on the run. This time the evil comes to him. Kana forges a new supportive relationship that helps in taking down the bad guys at the end. While Kana’s story comes to a conclusion, there are supporting characters in this book that I would enjoy reading about in the future. I received a free ARC of Witch from Indigo Marketing and Design and I am voluntarily leaving this review.
I love this series. I’m not even sure what to say. It held lots of magic usage. Hunter/witches and werewolves working together to fight something much scarier, and just Kana being the badass he is.
This one felt like a final so I’m not sure if we’ll get any more, and I do think it wrapped up nicely, though a little heavy relaying the information we’ve read throughout the previous books.
This is the first "Rate and Review" to open and I would have been raging about Kana' world. Unique enough to really deserve a read, all three books. They're easy reads and much better entertainment than television. I do hope Kana, his familars and Ember return often. Thank you, Well Eight. I'm on to your other works.
I really enjoyed this series. I really hope there will be more books in this series. I almost didn't give these books a chance because of some of the reviews. I am so glad that I tried them. Wonderful and well written.
