Wicked Succubus: Reign of Monsters

Rate this book
The two most feared supernaturals are hunting for a killer, and they don’t know the killer they’re looking for is me.

As a succubus who can’t feed without killing, I hunt and prey on the people who deserve it. Which worked out just fine until I accidentally murdered my boyfriend. I’m not the bad guy Agent Cooper should be worried about, though—not when there’s a real killer on the loose, preying on supernatural women in Los Angeles.

If we don’t find the killer soon, more young women will die. That’s why, even though he hates me, I’m helping him. But when he wins over the two most-feared supernaturals who HAVE taken liking to me, Killian and Rhett, all hope seems lost. Because none of them know my that I’m the one they’re hunting.

Worse, if discovered, I’ll be used as a weapon by whoever captures me first.

If you like Lost Girl and Dexter, then you’ll want to read Wicked Succubus!

This book was absolutely incredible, I was hooked from start to finish, constantly wondering “what’s going to happen next?”. I loved the way Zel’s character was portrayed as well as the dynamic between her and agent Cooper.
The only thing that stopped me from giving 5 stars is that there were a few noticeable mistakes (a repeated sentence, a few words that were either missed or slightly wrong)

This was a bit of a yo-yo book, honestly. There were bits where I was fascinated by it and interested, but then there were bits where it lost my interest and I found it a little difficult to get into. It got better as the book progressed, so I'm wondering if that was just because it's the first in the series so things have to be laid out and such. I, obviously, finished it and I did enjoy it, it just took me a little longer to get through than it normally would of because things just did that yo-yo motion. I'd be into it and then things would just become dull and boring.

I enjoyed the characters. They were all interesting and likable. I am curious to see where things go with their relationships and how those relationships will work together. Love Killian. Loved him pretty much right away. Same with Rhett, even though I like Killian more. I'm curious about Cooper and his secrets. It took a little bit of time for Zel to grow on me, but I do like her.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the future because I'm very, very curious to see where this story proceeds to. I'm looking forward to the characters and the story itself finding the right flow for its voice. Once it finds that, I think it'll be a wonderful four or five-star read. The potential is there, but since it's the first in the series, there's always finding that footing and voice for it. I'll certainly be picking up the next in the series to find out what happens though!

Wicked Succubus was a great story in a world where humans live alongside paranormals. It's told in alternating view points, from Zelyah (Zel), our succubus who needs to kill people to feed, Agent Cooper - the FBI agent trying to track down who is killing paranormal women (is it Zelyah??), and Killan and Rhett, agents from the Arcana Society trying to find the succubus.
I liked the interaction between all the characters and how it felt a little messy with what was going on. Zel drew them all in which was fun! The paranromal aspects were great.
I enjoyed the cameos from the characters from the Iron Beast Pack series too.
Whilst it ends on a small cliff hanger (I hate cliff hangers), it didn't have me screaming and felt wrapped up enough for the first book in a series.

Interesting read

This story started off with bang. With Zel having a good birthday gift with her boyfriend that turns bad. I felt like I was missing important information in the background. However, this book picked up quickly and it was hard to put down. I liked that Zel was not just feeding off of anyone. Rhett and Killian are interesting. They work for the Arcane society but it's different and separate from the FBI paranormal unit. Agent Cooper was interesting. A prince and a Agent. I also can't wait to find out why Succubus are ordered kill on sight. I can't wait to read the next book.

I really tried to get into this story but for some reason I could not connect. Maybe too many cliches? Or that it felt like a late night made for TV show with C actors that overacted their parts? Whatever it was I started skipping pages.

There were a few moments that I connected but the many TSTL moments would make me disconnect again. As this is book one there are enough bread crumbs to try and entice you to get the next book. For me one and done.

I received an ARC and I am leaving an honest review.

This was a great start to the Reign of Monsters series, it had everything that I was hoping for from why choose. The romance element worked well overall and thought the use of slow burn worked. The characters had that element that I was hoping for and was invested in what was happening in this world. It left me wanting to read this series and from Angelica Aquiles.

What a read. I could not put this book down once I started. I was hooked within a few pages. It moves along at a pace that is perfect for the flow of this story which makes for an enjoyable read. The charcters are so real that you feel like you know them and you will love them, no matter what happens. This book is a must read, there is no doubt about it.

She is a killer but tends to only kill those who deserve it but she has accidentally killed her boyfriend. Two powerful supernaturals are hunting for her but there is another killer and she has to be very careful not to be found out. Can she keep her secret safe? Will they find the other killer? How will it all go? See how they all get on

Enjoyed the writing style and plot. I found the story and dialogue to be clever and engrossing. Main gripe was the the semi-frequent TSTL decisions of various characters, esp the FMC. I wouldn't say it ends in a true cliff, but as this is book one in a series, there's many overarching things that do not get fully answered.

This book had me interested from the get-go and the FMC was well developed and relatable (as much as fantasy characters can be :). I loved all the dIfferent abilities of the supernaturals and the way that they were described as though they were normal/no big deal.

This is a murder mystery and the anti-hero who is also a succubus. When she needs to feed, she kills her victims but only goes after bad guys. She accidentally killed her boyfriend. Now a killer is on the loose and she is teaming up with the authorities to hunt the killer. It does end in a cliffhanger.

I GOBBLED this book up. I am ready for the next one. I am so upset it ended but well worth the wait. No spicy scenes in this book but I can get behind a Succubus who feeds on the bad men.

Took me a good few chapters to get in to the story but I love the interaction between the characters. I liked how she killed for good not evil.
