My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️.5

Disclaimer: I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Short summary: Ilsa and Nathan are friends, really good friends. Such good friends that Ilsa really doesn't want to mess it up. Her mother taught her that love was transactional, all about what the other person could give you until they tired of you. And Ilsa doesn't want to risk losing Nathan. But with attraction flying between both of them, how can she not give them a try? But is it worth it? Nathan is a rockstar in love with his best friend, and he'll pull out all the stops to convince her to give him a try.

General Thoughts: The middle third of this book was extremely well done. I also loved that while this one easily could have fallen into a trope I don't love, it didn't and showcased people actually working through that thing in a great reasonable, adult manner. (That vague enough for you? Trying not to give any spoilers.) I really liked that the characters seemed realistic in many ways. The ending fell a little flat for me, but the middle was really great here. Linnea has created an interesting world full of great main characters.

This is an interconnected standalone, so read the first one if you don't want spoilers (also on KU). The book focuses pretty heavily on the main characters. Linnea's writing was pretty good, and if you like romance and the friends-to-lovers and scarred heroine/chivalrous man pairings, this is worth giving a go.

Steam Meter: ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥.5 Steamy and for over 18 but not the most frequent or detailed.

Romantic Tropes
-friends to more
-dual pov
-realistic romance
-he falls first
-contemporary romance

A rockstar romance that pushes the limits on the reasons we choose the people we do, how we accept their faults/flaws without changing them, and how we confront our own shortcomings - all in the name of love.

I really enjoyed this next installment of the series, picking up with a different star of the band and leaving us with the third wheel, odd man out (hey book 3 I see you!)

Linnea March has thoughtfully curated a sweet, caring man that comes from a small town and learns the ultimate lesson on how to really care for a strong, independent woman. I can totally relate - I am this “don’t need a man” woman and, there’s a beauty in finding those people you can rely on, even if you don’t “need” them. This book really had me thinking about societal pressures, and how we bring that into relationships.

Further, she’s created a stubborn, strong, independent, and SELF MADE woman, driven by her past to be better than she was given.

Loved the use of dirty pickup lines — “Are you a taxidermist? I have a beaver I need stuffed.” 😂 🦫 that’s just one of many friends. They are pure gold. This friends to hot and heavy lovers with real life tension will leave you fully satisfied, but also ready for Book 3!

Thank you Linnea March for the ARC ❤️

Friends to Lovers Rock Romance

This is a friend to lover’s rock romance that had me from the start. Nathan is the bassist for a famous rock band and Ilsa is a driven young woman who now has her sights set to start her own fashion line. Nathan and Ilsa are such good friends that when their feelings grow to something more between them Ilsa wonders if she wants to put their good friendship to the test. Will Nathan be able to bring her around or will Ilsa not want to chance ruining their good friendship?

This was a sweet rock romance with a little spice that was a real page turner for me. I loved the the banter in this book as well. I am a big rock romance lover and this book checked all the boxes for me.

Best friends to hot lovers – Yes please!

I have to admit that I’ve read this second stand-a-lone book in Author Linnea March’s Rockstar romance series completely out of order. After reading book three, RUINOUS NOTION I found I had to go back and read TREACHEROUS NOTION next ‘cos I loved the characters of Nathan and Ilsa. Rockstar? Best friends to hot lovers? Yes please!!!

"When did the lines they’d drawn become smudged? Where was this boundary between friendship and lovers they were edging treacherously closer to?"

Ilsa was so strong, creative, independent, hard working and I loved her principles. She also began to wear on me. While I understood her reticence, I really felt sorry for Nathan and lost patience with Ilsa. At times she treated him abysmally. I understand baggage and the need to be independent, but I also didn’t sweat the small stuff and appreciated when my partner stood beside me as I handled my own, whereas she did none of this and came off in my mind, really badly. She flipped like a switch and didn’t use her words. Ah shiiite, I feel like I’m lecturing a two-year-old, not a twenty something!!!

Nathan on the other hand was absolutely perfect and I loved that he was unendingly patient with the woman he loved. Not only that, he owned that he wanted to take care of her, as any man should look after his woman. No, it didn’t make him a doormat, but rather a partner who showed unconditional love, and communicated those feelings of love. Check this line where he encourages her to be out there and be the best that she can be ...

“I don’t want you to feel small. You should never be small. I love that you take up all the space you deserve. I love the length of your legs and the lushness of your hips. The sharpness of your elbows and the way your arms can wrap around me to hold us together. You make me feel powerful.”

He also easily showed his growly alpha side 🔥🔥🔥 Oh man, he was the total gorgeous, handsome (huge!) package!!! He wasn’t above using his bedroom talent to lull Ilsa into a state of happy submission.

Ms March put together the most romantic of lines and gave me alllllllll the feels. I loved the dual POV and Rockstar romances are a favourite. Unfortunately for me, it’s all written in the third person, she was a little overly generous in her word usage and wrote with quite a formal voice at times. However, this will not stop me wanting to read more from her because her story creation is pretty much on point and I still recommend this as great reading. 4-hot-best-friend-romance-Stars 🎵🎤💞

I must admit the tropes are awesome. A cinnamon roll hero? I'm in. A friends-to-lovers story? Perfect! Child free by choice? I support that. It's a wise and acceptable decision when both parties involved agree. If that is fine with them, I'm fine with it.

The humour in this book is amusing, light and quite realistic when you take in the rock star aspect. Like his little sister stumbling upon him shirtless in a magazine--i mean, the horror for a teenage girl, ha! It's hilarious!

Also, I love how Ilsa's decision to not have babies/children is described. It is honest, but very kind. It's not as if you cannot like said babies/children to not want to have them yourself. You can like them and still say no. That description is genuine and not mean, and I love it.

Plus, I love how Nathan thinks he isn't "jealous" or "protective" of Ilsa, but whenever other guys say things like "Ilsa is normal hot", that gets Nathan upset and defensive, which is both sweet and hilarious. He's cute too, how he loves and values their friendship... He truly is a cinnamon roll hero. He is lovely, and I wasn't disappointed!

The only negative point is minor: sometimes there are several repetitions of a word within two paragraphs here and there, and it's annoying. But it's nothing heavy.

All in all, the best part of this book (besides the romance, I mean, and the spicy scenes ;)) is how humane and well-developed the characters are. They have all these feelings and emotions and thoughts and righteousness and desires... it's amazing. Like we all wonder sometimes and all fight inner fights about different stuff; sometimes we want something but fight against it, anyhow--just like Ilsa and Nathan. I love their depth. That is truly the highest point of this book, which makes you care about them and you're cheering them on and going on this roller coaster ride of feels and expectations and twists and highs and lows. Very nice. I loved loving them? Yeah, that's what I wanna say. :)

Obviously, I will stay tuned for Linnea March's upcoming similar books (either rockstar or Hollywood-inspired romances) as I really enjoy her writing, and well, I might just have discovered a new pleasant sub-genre for me. :)

For all the fun I had reading this book, and all the squeals and gasps I uttered with these characters, I give it a rating of 5 stars out of 5. I highly recommend it to romance readers looking for a good time and a lot of sweet feelings, and a great depth of characters.

OVERALL RATING – 5

First my usual points:
- I do not do spoilers unless warned.
- Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
- This is a standalone but the second in a series. Probably best to read in order but not necessary.
- No errors that I caught as far as editing.
- The author was not new to me

BOOK:
- Cover adequately reflects the story
- Genre/troupe: contemporary romance
- 3rd person deep dive alternating POVs
- Characters from prior books make appearances

Star Ratings - 1 (poor) - 5 (READ THIS BOOK)
• Writing Quality: 5 stars
• Story ingredient: 5 stars
• Ease of reading/Pace: 4 stars
• Plot strength: 5 stars
• Steam Level 5 stars

Notes/Opinion (personal):
The follow-up to Prevalent Notions, feature Isla and Nthan who form a friendship, which ultimately turn to love, once Isla gets out of her own way is a fun read for those who enjoy the genre and want to continue the stories of the band.

I liked the story overall. I understood Isla's hesitance throughout the book but did want to slap her senseless a few times due to her stubbornness in accepting help and seeing it for what it was. I struggled with the storyline of childless by choice but that is a personal dislike and in no way affects my opinion of the story. It is a topic that isn't really addressed in books but I know there are those readers that would like to see more of this.

“She liked the feeling of Nathan making her mushy toast as a hangover cure and drawing her a bath. Of bringing him cheap teriyaki when he was hurt, and the thrill of texting him every night before she went to bed. She liked the slack look on his face as he slept beside her. She liked the feel of his hands on her body, and the sparkle in his eyes as he handed her coffee in the morning made exactly the way she liked it. It all felt so domestic, and for the first time in her life, she wanted that with a man. She wanted that with him.”

This was such a sweet friends to lovers, small town and rockstar romance! I originally read Linnea March’s holiday novella The One you Chose which I absolutely loved and was super excited to read this one. I really enjoy her writing and I loved the characters in this book. Ilsa is such an incredible female main character who is the embodiment of what a strong woman is and I love the way she grows as an individual and the way her relationship grows with Nathan. Nathan’s character was super well written as well. I loved how sweet he was and I found their relationship to be really mature and natural, which I appreciated. As much as the book is sweet, we also got a good amount of spice which made the book that much better. When I read this book first, I didn’t realize it was part of a series but I’m definitely going to read Faultless Notion now!

Nathan and Lisa have been best friends for a year. She worked for his band. She is not trying to get her fashion line off the ground and he is working on a new record with his band. They have chemistry but have not acted on it because of their friendship. Soon they can not deny what they feel for each other. Ilsa’s past makes her super independent. Nathan has a big heart and wants to help is loved ones however he can. They meet friction because of this. Can his fame and her drive survive their romance?

Ilsa’s independence and stubbornness is almost too much for the couple. I understand her mothers choices have made her who she is, still at times it was hard to take. Once she stands up for herself things get better. Nathan does all he can to be there for her. He does over step at times, but he does it because he cares and wants her to succeed.

Ultimately, they work because they take the time to talk to each other about what they want and need from the other. The ending was perfect fore them. They worked together to be the best versions of themselves. All the steam on the page lead to the HEA.

This book also opens up for the final book, Theo (whom I am very excited to read about.) There are a couple triggers mentioned at the start.

This is book 2 in a series, but can be read as a standalone. I must admit that it was a slow starter for me, but once I got to know the main characters, I really enjoyed it.

Ilsa Kruger is a fashion designer trying to build her business profile in LA. She was brought up by a single mother, and has every reason not to put her trust in any man, preferring to make her own way in life.

Nathan Ayers, bass guitarist in Rock band, Prevalent Notion, was brought up in a warm and loving family in Kentucky, and is a gentleman in every sense of the word.
The two are very drawn to each other, but Ilsa struggles to allow Nathan to help her in her business and personal life.

This is a well plotted Steamy Romance, with characters who are mainly believable and likeable. There are some characters who are not so likeable, but they add to the story, and cause problems between Ilsa and Nathan, which are not easily overcome.
I enjoyed the book, and felt empathy for the two main characters, who struggle to find common ground, and hope to read the next book in the series soon.

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book, and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.

~ This is a book stop tour for Romance me with books ~

Treacherous Notion by Linnea March is a standalone romance. Although, it did tell like I was missing important information about side characters. I think this is why I had a hard time engaging with the story and characters.

I like that Ilsa is an independent women that stands up for herself and doesn't depend on Nathan to fight her battles. She is a strong female character that isn't often seen in romance books. The male main character, Nathan, is book boyfriend material but is a little flat as a character.

The Plot is a little vanilla and I wish it had more risk added to it. Because the stakes were so low I ended up skim reading the last couple of chapters.

However, the writing and the Author's voice is consistent and dependable allowing the story to breath on its own.

Loved this book! Nathan is a famous rockstar with strong feelings for his friend Isla and Isla is a clothes designer determined to launch her fashsion line by herself with no help from anyone. They are friends, best friends, and have strong feelings for each other but have not said anything about it. I found it very frustrating how they continually circled around each other with Isla refusing any help from Nathan. He is a rich rock star, take the money already!!! But Isla is trying to get financial backing for it by herself, part of the reason being in childhood and her mother's continual hunt to find a man who would take care of them. There were some very funny one liners between Isla and Nathan, they had started a game where they would tell each other the worst pick up lines, there were some very funny ones that kept me laughing! So, a slow burn romance with an annoying ex of Nathan's thrown in to stir things up a bit, makes it a very unputdownable book, lots of steam too!

This was my first time reading a book by Linnea March and i can say i was not disappointed in the slightest. ( Read out of order and read book 1 before writing this review)

Some real hard hitting topics were covered within the story and they way the rockstar and designer navigate the life and friendship they have nurtured, despite its rather eye opening beginning.

I love how the story and its characters are next level relatable with their banter and whit and the god awful cheesy chat up lines adding to the funny factor.

The book has one power house of an independent woman as a one of the main characters and her choices are also refreshing to read within the story, as its not your typical angle. But i am here for it all...

I loved how the FMC wasnt a damsel in distress and caving at every turn when the hot rockstar offers to help.

This is the second book within the series but can totally be read as a standalone. (But not guna lie...you will want to read book 1 too, so good)

Cant wait to see what comes next in the series and to read more from Linnea

It is the second book in the Prevalent Notion series and it is a rockstar romance. Because I didn't read the first book, I lacked some information and depth of understanding when I read the second part, but this book is still a standalone. As a character, Ilsa was very appealing to me. I have to admit that she is an incredibly strong woman who is able to do everything herself and build a life that she is happy with. She does not depend on Nathan at all and does not want to depend on him, which is very significant. The tension between the two main characters is one of my favorite aspects of the story. This is because friendship gradually turns into a fire that they both have to deal with in order to succeed. (it would be even hotter if they were enemies and not friends heh). but in general, I liked their relationship and the way they treat each other how cute they looked together, and love each other. There was a great deal of lightness and enjoyment to be found in this book.

H/h: Nathan and Ilsa
POV: 3rd person
Genre: rockstar romance
Heat level: medium
Standalone?: N
Cliffhanger?: N, includes teaser for next book in series
HEA: Y
Triggers: language, explicit sensual scenes
Tropes: Friends to Lovers

Nathan is the bassist for Prevalent Notion, a hit band. Ilsa is a struggling fashion designer. They became friends over a year ago, when she was working as the band’s stylist. Now their attraction is getting too hot to handle!
This is a cute friends to lovers rockstar romance. Because Ilsa is a fashion designer, each chapter title is a word that relates to sewing. Ilsa’s inner struggles and Nathan’s self-reflection give them a little development, but nothing unexpected. This is not a bad book, but it didn’t really stand out to me. It was cute, but nothing new or different.

Ilsa is a personal stylist who is also developing her own fashion business. While working with the Rock Band “Prevalent Notion,” she has become genuine friends with bassist Nathan. Ilsa and Nathan are strongly attracted to each other, but their friendship has been too valuable to risk with a hookup. Ilsa also is very determined to be completely independent from men due to a difficult childhood and issues with her mother. The heat between the Nathan and Ilsa inevitably ignites into flames although Isla’s struggles with dependency puts their HEA at risk. The book has dual points of view, some interesting fashion bits and these characters do agree not to have children. Ultimately, this is a very adult, sexy story that many readers will enjoy. This gorgeous romance novel has all the tropes I live for! Celebrity relationship, friends to lovers, cinnamon-roll hero. I was engaged the second I picked it up. It was streamy, loving and hilarious all at once - I mean their jokes got me laughing at times.

Isla Kruger, the brand and the character, is this determined, fierce woman who you can’t get enough off. She’s intoxicating on paper, she know what she wants and I like it. The way she handles herself, with such pride and honesty is really well written.

Nathan Ayers starts of as you’re average rockstar playboy, you know, sleeping around, partying all night but we see him grow into this loving, loyal man who only has his eyes for one girl. He’s protective of what’s his and will go to any extent to keep the up. He was so soft through out the book, anyone would he lucky to be his.

It was such a pleasure to read. It took a while to get into, but once I reached around 60%, I finished it in one night. I’m a returning reader of Linnea and this one was definitely more me.

This is book 2 in March's Prevalent Notion series but can be read as a standalone. A great romance - I loved these characters - Nathan and Lisa. Lisa has worked for the band Prevalent Notion as a stylist and developed a friendship with bassist Nathan, while there is certainly chemistry there, neither have forged beyond due to the value they've placed on their friendship. Lisa is a strong and independent woman who values her independence, but their chemistry is getting too hot to ignore. A well written rockstar romance that is sure to please. Great sweet and heat balance and amazingly broken characters who just fit together. Beautiful HEA ending with a lead into the next book in the series which I am super eager for!

Ilsa Kruger is a strong woman who knows what she wants to do and to be. She is a fashion designer who intends to make a name for herself. Nathan Ayers is a kind, loveable bassist of one of the world's most famous rock bands and seems to be everybody's friend. He and Ilsa are firmly in the friend zone, but both begin to have more personal thoughts but they don't act on it. I was afraid this was going to be another story with the weak excuse that "We're best friends and I don't want to sacrifice our friendship if we become lovers." (It didn't!) The one thing that moved slowly through the storyline was their simmering chemistry and I kept wondering when it would become explosive. Nathan and Ilsa can best be described as intriguing and appealing, and their believability made me feel as if I knew them.

(Arc provided by Romance me with books)

This was definitely a great read. I loved Ilsw she was very independent. She didn't let anyone fight her battles for her. Even though she's always had a hard time when it comes to being in a relationship I like how little by little she was opening up to Nathan. Nathan was a sweetheart and was very respectful. Loved the fact that they were able to talk and that there wasn't any miscommunication. Even when something did happen they were mature enough to give each other space and be respectful about it.

Friends to loves is not one of my favorite tropes but this book definitely deserves the hype. The chemistry between the characters was amazing. The way they all supported each other. The character growth for both Nathan and Ilsa was freaking amazing.

4.4 The mutual pining, y'all 🤤

Nathan has consistently been dumped by women who have told him they couldnt see anything serious with him. Hes a man who wants serious, so he has self-worth issues the size of Manhattan. He knows he wants Ilsa, but cant risk her leaving him like the rest because shes his best friend.

Ilsa was raised by a mother who used men as the fix in life - which ultimately left Mitzie heartbroken and destitute time-and-time-again. This gives Ilsa a prideful independence streak wider than the Atlantic. She wants Nathan, but she cant risk losing herself in his fame.

These two idiots, man. This was a lot of fun to read. It was in third person, which doesnt bother me in the slightest but inknow bothers some so if thats a deal breaker for you this is your warning.

I’ve been looking forward to this book since I read the first in the series and it’s here!

This is a friends to lovers rockstar romance and the flirtatious energy was off the charts. Our main characters were both captivating and real. I found myself rooting for them, not only as a couple, but individually as well.

Sometimes with friends to lovers you miss out on fun and obvious flirting but not here and it was wonderful. I loved their banter and chemistry, it fit the characters and situation perfectly. I mean, Nathan is a rockstar after all—and he charmed the pants off me. 😏

All in all, I loved this book, just like I knew I would!

Treacherous Notion is book 2 in the Prevalent Notion series. My advice is you should read them in order but you don’t strictly need to!

I always enjoy a good rockstar romance, and Treacherous Notion was just that. Nathan is a bass guitarist in a band. He's a total sweetheart and a gentleman in every sense of the word. Iisa is a fashion designer trying to make it in L.A. She was raised by a single mom, therefore, doesn't have a lot of trust when it comes to the opposite sex. Even though Iisa and Nathan are drawn to one another, she still won't let him help her out. She is very much on guard. Iisa was a very intriguing character to me. I was definitely drawn to her, and I loved how strong and independent she was. I very much enjoyed the plot and found myself getting lost in the story. I also found myself laughing at this book (kiwi allergy). Bonus, I enjoyed the names of each chapter. I thought that was a nice and unique touch.

First and foremost, huge thank you to Linnea March for the ARC in exchange for an honest review! 🫶🏻

Treacherous Notion is the second rockstar romance that I’ve read, (the first being Faultless Notion - The first book in this series) and I absolutely loved it. I honestly didn’t think I would be into rockstar romances but here I am.

Right from the start of the book the mutual pining and chemistry that these two share is off the charts and I am here for it. The book also offers dual POVs which I have just come to love as well!

I love how similarly Ilsa and Eloise (from book 1) are written with their independent ness and the drive to be successful on their own.

Assuming we get a book about Theo, I can’t wait to read more!

Friends to lovers 👩‍❤️‍👨
Rockstar romance 🤘
Nathan and Ilsa are the best!!
This book is for all the strong women out there. Ilsa is phenomenal. She wants to be true to herself, she’s a bit stubborn, she’s independent, but she finally gives in to sweet Nathan.
Nathan is the most patient, sweetest, but se❌ies✝️ man. I just fell in love with him right off the bat.

I love a book with a hunk who wants to settle down and a heroine who pushes back a bit. You will swoon over Nathan as he fights to have Ilsa. You’ll wish it was you 😉. One of my top new book boyfriends!

Linnea out does herself on this one. The character development and story line keep you reading and intrigued. Linnea’s books are hands down some of the best out there. Don’t wait, pick this bad boy up and enjoy!

“I’ve waited so long to have you like this, Petal.”

Petal. What a great pet name Nathan has for Ilsa. So sweet. But that’s exactly what I would expect from him since Nathan is such a sweetheart himself. This is a friends to lovers story, not one of my favorite tropes, but it works well here. Nathan and Ilsa truly grow from friends to lovers with all the mistakes along the way. Just like in Faultless Notion, the first book in the series, once again the main issue I have is with the female main character. In many ways Ilsa is her own worst enemy and her determination to be independent almost costs her the forever kind of love so many can only dream about. Fortunately it all works out and they get their HEA.

This is a fun, entertaining read. Nathan and Ilsa are intriguing, relatable, entertaining characters. Nathan is a new book boyfriend. He’s a sweet rockstar – best of both words. Ilsa at times I had hard time connecting with her to the point I wanted to shake her. I get why she was the way she was, but it didn’t help me like her any better as a character at time. I love the various secondary characters from the music world and those that worked with Ilsa in her store. This is a fun world, and from the brief glimpse we got at the end of this story, Theo’s romance is gonna be interesting.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Enjoyed this rockstar friends to lovers steamy romance.

Ilsa is a fashion designer who wants to be successful in the fashion world. She is hired by Prevelant Notion a famous rock band to design their outfits for their tour.

She is very independant and does not want to rely on anyone.

Book 2 of the prevalent notion series(but really book 3 as there is another book about on of there others with their back story) As much as this is Nathan’s story, Ilsa makes it hers. With her walls to stop her following in her mothers foot steps and only needing a man in order to be looked after she has to over come all of this baggage in order to let Nathan love her. Loving someone love her does not mean she owes them anything or has to give up part of who she is to get there she just needed love and a lot of patience.

Treacherous Notion: A Rockstar Romance (Prevalent Notion Book 2) by Linnea March is another outstanding read! Linnea March knows how to write snark, slow burn to raging inferno smexy scenes, including real-life dysfunctional family situations and eliciting emotions from the reader. I loved this story about Nathan, the player rocker, and Ilsa, the wardrobe e designer, who are friends, each pining with unrequited love for the other. Watching them fall in lust and then love each other within books’ pages was a delight. I can’t wait to read about the next band member Theo and the girl Maddie he let get away.

Treacherous Notion by Linnea March

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶

Treacherous Notion is book 2 in the Prevalent Notion series.

This story was enjoyable, I liked the friendship that the characters had with each other, with the dirty pick up lines they would often tell each other. I was a bit frustrated by the constant pushing the MMC away. The FMC had her independence that she focused on at all times and would often get in the way of even the smallest things. But I enjoyed the chemistry and angst, Nathan was sweet, loving and the man can cook and play the bass 😍

I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.
