All Mixed Up starts out with a bang, well, a car accident, actually, definitely not the best way to "run into" the ex you can't forget.
The producer and the professor, Nikki and André haven't spoken in years, since The Ghosting, except for the drunk dial debacle neither one wants to remember.
It had to end. They are so different.
"She was a blabbermouth, constantly spilling her heart all over the place as if to trick someone into slipping and falling in love with her. And André kept his heart locked inside a vault surrounded by puzzles and mazes and miles of jungle overgrowth like a treasure hunter’s one last quest."
Of course, there ARE tacos...and music...and ride or die friendships, Sunshine, all the beautiful things we have come to love from Heidi Hutchinson. There are new things, too, including shirtless suspenders, renovations, hedge diving (with shrimp!) and archaeology.
As adept with feelings as she is with words, Heidi tells a deep, emotional story about broken love and its underlying themes (hurt people hurt people, imposter syndrome, fear), healing, trust, friendship, being seen, second chances, growing confidence and chasing joy.
