I read this at some point in the last 5 years and completely forgot it ends on a cliffhanger 😂 anyways, a pretty mindless read and I found it (mostly) enjoyable!

Loved the cover for this book and the upcoming book 2.

However, I will not be continuing with the series. I kept on start, stopping, losing interest, starting other books, leaving them, then ultimately coming back to this one because I was invested in the story and also just wanted to get to the end.

Well, the end was a cliff hanger that I didn't feel was necessary.

I appreciated and also in the same turn resented/couldn't be bothered with the fact that Cora, Jay and Marcos each had their past/trauma and how it is now impacting them as they set up their throuple. Working through it, together with the work drama, in some ways bored me as it is taking way too long and now the same will basically continue on in book 2.

Cora at times came off as being naive/too idealistic, when it came to the work drama (we all know who it is) and also when it came to their sex scenes. If it happens once, it's okay to be shocked. If it keeps on happening and you do not take the initiative to understand your own body, or even using the reference material that Marco gave you, or hell, if he's your reference point because Google apparently doesn't exist in your world, discussing what your body is doing and try to understand it without shame, you are edging towards being purposefully ignorant.

I think the story would have been better as a more concise one book story as opposed to a duet. So, if interested in a spicy, polyamorous read with in depth, at times dragging back story for the characters, I'd definitely recommend this for you.

This was such a sweet book with lots of emotion. The characters were easy to fall in love with and even better was a curvy FMC. The spice was also a 4/5 with lots of detail. I look forward to the next book!

Started so good and crashed/burned SO quickly. I truly enjoyed the beginning immensely - I loved the friend group, the banter, the dynamic, the characters but then it turned into insta smut with no warning. I became exhausted reading it because the pacing felt so unrealistic and gave me whiplash. How these three fell so quickly with next to no conversations was beyond me. Smut was decent, plot was lacking.

I received an ARC copy of this book, the characters are so easy to fall in love with and their dynamics are done really well. I ate this book up, and was sad when it came to an end. Please read trigger warnings before reading as this book does tackle some sensitive topics, but it’s done with grace. I can’t wait to read more about these characters in the future!

4.5🌶️🥵
I finished this in one sitting 🙈. Absolutely loved the character dynamics and gosh this was 🥵.

Edit 11.09.2023 - it’s been a day and I haven’t recovered.

Loving the why choose theme and the relaxing/massage part of it. The author even included my fav audio app (Quinn).
Definitely a spicy fever dream 😁

I received this book for free from the author; all thoughts are my own.

This book had me hooked from the get-go and kept me hooked throughout. There was a lot of information to take in, but that just keeps me even more excited for the next book!

I don't know what it was about Sloan's writing style, but it really resonated with me. I had an easy time reading this book and her writing had me deeply engaged. I'm not much of a reader that is focused on writing styles, or things like that. Normally if a book makes me feel an emotion, I'm hooked, but this book had it all.

The only reason I didn't give this the full five stars was due to the fact there was *a lot* of info. At some points, I was a bit overwhelmed.

I would recommend checking the trigger warnings; the spice was fantastic to read.

The book starts a few years in the past just as Cora is coming off a divorce (be sure you read the trigger warnings for the reason). I struggled with this first section for readability. However, as soon as the book resumed in the present, it was incredibly enjoyable. The intimate scenes are spicy and full of kink. There are so few authors who get the BDSM world right and Sloan does.
Overall it was a great read with the exception of the first 20-40 pages.

DNF @ 35%

This DNF is mostly because I lost interest in reading STRUCTURAL DAMAGE and it's been almost 2 months since I picked it up last. I liked the characters but I will say that I didn't particularly love the way Jay was keeping secrets and the way he decided to surprise Marco with who Cora really was during a public work event; this just felt manipulative considering the circumstances.

No. Just no.

DNFing at 66%

There’s so many thing that are going against this book for me.

Let’s start with the title or I guess it would be called the subtitle. Amazon lists this book being named “Structural Damage: MMF Why Choose Romance (Structural Duet Book 1)”
There are rules to certain sub genres of romance. The number one rule for a Why Choose subgenre is that there are no fewer than 3 partners for the one woman identifying main character. This book lacks a whole third partner for this to be labeled correctly. This should could be replaced with MMF Ménage Romance or MMF Polyamorous Romance.

I walked into this book not knowing that Cora’s profession was in the architecture field, but once I found out I’ll admit I was excited. There has only been one other book I’ve read that had the FMC be an architect. Most of the design jargon was correct and used appropriately, with the exception of ‘soils engineer’ any one who has been in the industry in the recent 10 or so years, does not call them that, they are called “geotechnical engineers”. This was not that big of an issue to me, but I did notice it.

The writing itself told more than it showed. Telling me how infatuated they were with each other INSTANTLY instead of showing it to me. There was a lot of words dedicated to describing things that didn’t need to be that detailed. The dialogue was unrealistic and robotic. It lacked the flow of conversation.

There is a whole lawsuit happening for a building “sliding off a cliff” that the firm designed. She took over as CEO of her father’s firm after he died. For me to believe that this was the major plot driving factor, I should have heard so much more about this. I feel like it was only sprinkled in for there to me something to “worry” about.

There’s a lot of things in the 66% that I read that I felt could have used content/trigger warnings. Also this is the first book/author that I have seen have an author’s note to direct people to the back of the book after the acknowledgements to find the trigger warning list that is over 75% only sexual themes. I think both Cora’s and Jay’s family dynamics should have been included. Content warnings are there to inform the reader. I think that while having an authors’ note letting people know that they are there but at the back of the book is better than not having them at all. But if the author’s goal was not to spoil the reader, I don’t think content warnings should spoil your readers. And by that I mean things that can be listed in the content warnings should not be the “punchline” to your book. But anyway, I believe that if the author had the note to say “if you would like to see the content warning list, it is on the following page, if not feel free to continue on to the start of the story…”

All three of these characters, I can only assume that they are somewhere near their mid to late 30’s. Please tell me why all three of them are so childish, immature, unprofessional, and to be honest I think I could keep going but I won’t.

Cora literally avoided one of her EMPLOYEES at a holiday party because she was embarrassed. Jay didn’t tell Cora that her massage therapist is Jay’s boyfriend, and Jay didn’t tell Marco that his client was not only Jay’s boss, but the one night stand that ghosted him 2+ years ago that he’s low key still hung up on.

Cora, lied multiple times the night her and Jay met, only to not tell him that all she wanted was a one night stand, she goes and continues to lead him on only to block him. She was in the process of hooking up with him and came twice, and she “joked” like she was going to leave, and then continued to hook up with him. The hot and coldness of her is very flakey and disconcerting.

The unprofessional is of all of them is batshit bonkers. Tell me why Cora, on a Sunday is in the office (yes shes alone because shes the only one who USUALLY is in the office on the weekends) with an open door to her office, she is listening to some spicy audio clips and starting to touch herself? There are so many things wrong with this image. Most of all the one of WHAT IF ONE OF YOUR EMPLOYEES WALKS IN? And then one does, Jay. I swear apart from “department meetings” I don’t think we see Jay do his job AS DIRECTOR OF HR. You know was HR director he should have said something about the office being an appropriate location for this, but instead he teases her about it, several times.

Then when Cora decides to have the one night stand with them, both her and Jay think it’s an AMAZING idea to let Marco into this proposition AT HIS WORK PLACE. Yes, it’s empty but that is not the point. They go on and do lots of things in that room and on that massage table, like how is fucking where you work sexy? ESPECIALLY SINCE MARCO HAS A MASSAGE ROOM SET UP IN HIS AND JAY’S HOME. LIKE GO ROLE PLAY THERE WHAT THE FUCK.

And then we get another Jay and Cora scene while Marco is on FaceTime of Jay and Cora getting very physically intimate IN JAYS OFFICE, DURING WORK HOURS.

Nope.

Also why the fuck would Marco call Cora’s boobs, sweater puppies. Unfortunately I think this was the last straw with a list of issues that was growing exponentially, this is the straw that broke the camel’s back.

I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed.

DNF at 50%.

I like the characters but I detest sadomasochism. It will never make sense to me that partners would want to cause pain.

Also, they obviously have some convos they need to speak. They haven't even discussed whether this is once or a relationship. It's not fair to her that they don't. And it's not fair to them that she doesn't share why she walked away from Jay years ago.

I received a copy of Structural Damage as an ARC reader for Sloan. I fell in love with this story.
There are many trigger warnings, so please check those before you read.

All three main characters are wonderfully written. Each of their stories has so much depth.

There is lots of spice, love, and caring.

-Cora is a hard working lady in charge, but takes no time for herself.
-Jay is fun and carefree.
-Marco takes care of the people he loves.

This book has so much depth and even though there is tons of spicy scenes, they are filled with love also.

I can't wait for Book 2!

DNF 8%. okay, this one is on me. I have a very large physical TBR staring right at me, and I decided to go with a book I found one quote from on bookstagram.
I wanted to love this, but within one chapter, there were so many times I went "huh??", that I can not put myself through the rest of the book. maybe it gets better, but I'm going to pass on this.

Good for the most part

I liked it a lot. I was a little apprehensive after reading the authors note which felt like it bashed trigger warnings and straight up said they spoil books (this one has some very prominent triggers please check).

I did read it and enjoyed it. Would have liked some spice without BDSM but it was good. HOWEVER, it’s ends on a cliffhanger. I feel like this should have been one book.

I was hooked from chapter 1. Jay and Cora had a perfect night together and then I gasped at the time frame. (I obviously didn't read the blurb before diving in). I loved everything about the story, but there were times I wanted more plot, overall the book was fantastic! I loved the dynamic between the three of them and cannot wait to see what comes next!

Really enjoyed the characters but the pet names just weren’t doing it for me (definitely just a personal issue.) the spice was good however I thought some of the side issues didn’t seem necessary but maybe they’ll make sense in the second book! Overall, this is a good debut novel and an accessible read for someones first poly/kink read.

I think that this book just had too much going on like yeah idk and also the writing was just very meh

Weird quote: This is the kind of body built for carrying babies. For feeding them. Lush, ripe curves that I want to sink my teeth into.

If a man told me this I’d kms

THIS REVIEW INCLUDES SPOILERS!

I am excited about reading this book because I am 5 pages in and feel invested already. So, let´s see where this book goes, shall we?

OMG, this book became so filthy real quick! I am 30 pages in, and I am enjoying it so much. But do not get me wrong. It is not just dirty. It is romantic as well, and I love it. Also, Cora is so funny and easy-going. Her one-night stand with a guy named Jay was written flawlessly, but then it jumped two and a half years later. I can not wait for them to meet again. They just met again, and he told her he had a boyfriend!

Jay´s boyfriend was massaging Cora, and he got aroused! What the hell am I reading here? It is nothing I expected from this book at all. I mean, I am not disgusted or anything by it. On the contrary, I like this book, which is weird, but that is the truth.

So Jay found Cora in the office with earbuds in her ears, listening to some erotic audio, more importantly, threesome audio, and was playing with her nipples, and he caught her in action! She was so embarrassed, but they somehow brushed it off.

This book has no filter whatsoever! This book is sexy, filthy, and depravedly written with pleasure and passion. It´s almost unbearable. I have never read this kind of book before, but this book managed to be written flawlessly and cover this topic so staggeringly.

I liked this book. But something was missing there for me, so I decided it is a solid four-star read, and I recommend reading it.

First of all, Jay is the star of this book. You can not tell me any different. This man wants to cuddle after car sex but settles on cookies. Yeah, he's a keeper. I wished we had more time with unpacking his Korean heritage, but bc it ends on a cliffhanger, I have to read the next book to find out more.

Cora girl, you have so much going on, but I was rooting for you and loved that both Jay and Marco immediately wanted to make you their unicorn, which didn't even last long. Like they had one night and said nah lady, you belong to us 🤭 Quite frankly, she needed the support.

You have to be ok with on page impact play. There's a lot of it, but the author does a good job (I think) to walk you through the experience. We are living vicariously through the subs experience. Everything isn't perfect, and they have to negotiate and renegotiate, and I really liked that.

I will be reading the next book and I already bought both books for my shelves.

CN: divorce, miscarriage, PTSD (flashbacks), strained relationship with family (adoptive parents), child abuse, alcoholism, grief, parental death, child abandonment, husband wanting an abortion after down diagnosis, sexism in the workplace, skipping meals,

This book was a fun read that ended on a massive cliff hanger.

The character development was nice, and you really feel like you’re getting to know them. The dom is an absolute sweetheart who takes aftercare seriously. The FMC is strong, but very obviously broken. The two MMC’s are just the perfect fit to help her heal.

The spicy scenes are HOT. You either need an ice bath, or a primed and ready partner/BOB. The affection that is in the aforementioned scenes, is just beautiful.

This is definitely a book I will be reading again. It will be recommended to any one who is up for this style. I already cannot wait for the second book.

I received this book as an ARC from the author. Mildly spoiler-y

I felt like I was sucked into to this book from the beginning and it didn’t let go of me until I finished. Certain plot twists in the beginning seemed predictable but by the end there were some I was surprised by. Initially I felt like the pacing for this book was off because we were learning too many new things before the end of the book. When I got to the last page needing more information I then learned it was a duet so the pacing makes more sense. I did notice I wanted to learn more about what was happening about the lawsuit than we were given in this book. I hope there is a bigger resolution to it in the second book.

The spice was a 4/5 There are MM, MF, and MMF scenes. I found there to be good conversations about consent while participating in kink prior to anything happening. Please check the tags regarding what type of kink is happening on page.

I rate it 4/5 stars. I found it to be a good book that I’d recommend to friends to read when it becomes available. Please check trigger warnings for this book as these characters have experienced and discuss on page their different traumas.

This book was so beautiful. The intentionality behind each character’s emotional expressions and life stories is beautiful. There’s diverse representation. This story discusses difficult topics including but not limited to, miscarriages, PTSD, and complex family dynamics- but all are written in a very well thought out manner. The BDSM representation is *chef’s kiss.* The spice is so fucking good I was barking during every scene. I wasn’t expecting that cliffhanger, but I think it’ll set the second book up nicely.

Eh what can I say, this did disappoint me.
I do understand that this is her first book and after reading Every move you make I can promise you IT DOES GET BETTER.
This book was porn without a plot in a very bad way. Almost 400 pages of sex with a lot of build up to the storyline just for us to see the storyline wave at us and then jump of a fucking cliff…. Okay then

Do I think this had potential? Yes
Do I think the little bit of story line was good? Yes
Am I confident that the next book will be interesting? Yes
Will I read the next book? Probably not but who knows
