This book is a celebration of LGBTQIA+ activists, artists, comedians, writers, musicians, and pop-culture giants who have shaped our worlds, expanded our horizons, and radically increased queer visibility.
Featuring trailblazing queer icons such as James Baldwin, George Michael, Frida Kahlo, George Takei, Elliot Page, Virginia Woolf, Leigh Bowery, and Divine, The Little Book of Pride Heroes is a colorfully illustrated homage to the power of pride and the enduring legacy of those who have fought for LGBTQIA+ rights.
In all honesty, I received this as an ebook back in March, read all of it (almost all of it?) and promptly forgot about it because I suck. So have it marked as read today because of that.
In this gorgeous book there are many iconic LGBTQ+ trailblazers!
I was so kindly offered a digital copy of The Little Book of Pride Heroes by Jared Richards to read in exchange for an honest review.
This book has so many amazing people in it, some most of us will recognise by name alone (Marsha P Johnson), to some that may be less known, but are still amazing people to read about.
The layout of this book is wonderful, complete with gorgeous illustrations.
It is a perfect starting off point for queer figures not only throughout history, but recent ones as well (Lil Nas X is in here, too).
If you’re a fan of quick reads that are also informative, I highly recommend this one!
The Little Book of Pride Heroes is a vibrant, joyful tribute to LGBTQIA+ icons who’ve changed the world. With powerful illustrations and inspiring stories, it celebrates visibility, courage, and pride. A must-have for every bookshelf!
Highly recommend. Enjoyable format, wide but relevant selection of Pride Heroes. Educational and entertaining non-fiction with pretty and colourful illustrations.
