Three years ago, half of Mercedes’ family was murdered: the boy she loved, her father, her brother, and her sister. Luiz Suarez betrayed and killed them. Now all she has left is her mother, her beautiful baby sister, and the scars to prove she saw it all happen.
Alone and in hiding, Luiz has regretted what he did for every single moment. But his father, Roman, isn’t satisfied. He still has a score to settle: a blood debt he wants paid.
Mercedes won’t lose the people she loves most, not again. And Luiz won’t let anyone else die because of him. Even if that means they are each other’s only allies.
They’ll do whatever it takes—because they're done, and this ends now.
Gabriella Batel is a vibrant young Catholic woman with an adrenaline craving and a passion for God, family, acting, movies, fanart, YA, and good food. She's the author of the acclaimed Don’t series, the upcoming epic fantasy thriller Ending (the first in the Essence Bane saga!), and the prize-winning post-apocalyptic fantasy story “Antivenom.” She’s also the fiery audio narrator of Mary Rose Kreger’s award-winning story “Fiona’s Choice.”
Done picks up several years after Don’t, following the surviving characters who are again embroiled in a bloody battle for vengeance. But this time, the life of Mercedes’ baby sister is at stake too.
Lots of drama, imagery, and gunplay along with a heavy dose of angst. I think the book does well what it sets out to do. This installment draws less on the characters’ faith, which I missed, but the plot didn’t suffer for it.
I am such a fan of Gabriella Batel and her work! I absolutely loved Don't (that book still has my heart) and was so excited for Done, and Done did not disappoint! This book is beautifully written. The language is crisp and vivid language--I felt so immersed in every part of the story. I loved watching the relationships of the characters unfold and develop. My heart melted so many times throughout the course of this book, especially with how Mercedes and Luiz treated Kestrel. And Kestrel herself was so incredibly cute. I loved seeing more of Faith in this book. And I loved watching how the relationship between Mercedes and Luiz developed throughout the story. Mercedes is definitely one of my favorite characters now! Her perspective and how she dealt with everything that happened in the previous book felt so realistic, and, to me, she felt really relatable. Gabriella Batel definitely knows how to create suspense. It was so hard to put this book down, and there were so many times I caught myself holding my breath in anticipation of what might happen next! I cannot say enough just how much I loved this book. I will definitely be reading Batel's future books!
This one wasn't even supposed to exist. Don't was going to be a standalone, but about a year before I published it, I had the idea for this one. It's consumed me since then, and I've loved each moment.
