When bad boy Luke Banning left Trillium Island more than a decade earlier, he broke a young Ali Conlan’s heart. Now he’s back as an investor in the resort Ali and her two siblings own and want to expand.
Ali is determined to keep things from getting personal with Luke. After all, the man being hailed as Entrepreneur of the Year isn’t likely to trade in his Manhattan penthouse and glamorous lifestyle for the small island community that once judged him so harshly. The sensible thing to do is to guard her heart so he doesn’t break it again.
Luke has made a name and life for himself in the Big Apple. The slow pace on tiny Trillium can hardly compare to the megawatt brilliance of the city that never sleeps. But coming back has stirred up a lot of memories and even more emotions. And almost all of them have to do with Ali Conlan.
She isn’t the naive girl he remembers. She’s grown into a smart, savvy businesswoman. A woman Luke can’t stop thinking about. Settling the unfinished business between them is at the top of Luke’s agenda. But can he convince Ali that the past won’t be repeated?

Ali and Luke grew up together. He left years ago, taking her heart with him. Now he's back, after making something of himself and to do business with her and her siblings. Since he's not on the island to stay, Ali really tries to keep her distance.
A story of second chances, a small town island and a twin sister that meddles.
I really enjoyed this story. I'm looking forward to reading the final siblings story, Audra and Ali's older brother, Dane.
Another great read from Jackie Braun. This is Ali and Luke’s story: Luke left Trillium Island a decade ago to “ make something of himself “ while Ali left for college then returned to work on the island. When Luke returns to enter a business deal with Ali and her siblings, is it really only business that brings Luke back to the island or is it also the girl he’s never forgotten? This is Book 2 in the Trillium trilogy but can easily be read as a standalone. However, I’m certain that once you’ve read it you’ll want to check out the first book as well.
Ali Conlon is Audra’s twin, but she is nothing like her sister either in looks or temperament. Ten years ago, Ali was in love with Luke Banning, the bad boy of Trillium Island, but he left her without a word. Since then, he’d been in the news and on social media, having made millions in real estate. When Ali and her siblings buy the Saybrook Resort, they need an additional investor, and they turn to Luke. She knows it’s the only way their business venture can succeed, but she has to keep her feelings under wraps. In the meantime, Luke is eager to show Ali that he’s made good and is now worthy of her love, but she seems unimpressed by his financial success and seems to be interested in a local developer who seems a bit shady.
Ali & Luke fell in love as teenagers & after 3 years of dating,he took off on his Harley, and if that was bad enough ,she thought her sister Audra left WITH him! Ten years pass with no communication at all from him. Audra comes home to set the record strait…he just gave her a ride to the ferry & they went their separate ways. Luke becomes a millionaire making wise investments & after the 3 siblings buy the famous resort Ali works for,he joins them & invests in a golf course. At first Ali isn’t warm to his being “back home”. With persistence Luke changes her mind & they fall in love ,or I should say back in love again.
