Jane’s future, the desperate dreams she’s locked in her heart for so long, rest on faraway shores, but being ashore comes with its own challenges; ones that force Jane and Bennett to change their identities, yet again.
But, in a life of piracy, grudges are often long-held and blood-tainted. Jane couldn’t have known that when pirates crossed long ago set their vengeful gazes upon her. She isn’t the same woman she was when she climbed aboard Sneaky Lass a lifetime ago. Watching her hopes of beginning a new and lawful life deflate like sails on a windless sea is not who she is anymore.
Neither is running away.
Struggling to come to terms with their new roles aboard Blessed Gun, Jane, Bennett, and the rest of the crew need to chisel a place for themselves in the new life they mean to create together.
The real challenge lies in facing who they are beneath the disguises and aliases, under the salty crust the ocean leaves behind, and through the indelible stain a life of piracy has marked them with in order to determine how much further they are willing to go for the promise of a clean slate.
ARC received for an honest review. This book continues the story of Jane and Bennet. Another great book and ending to this series. Months ago I saw a video on Tim too of the author just hoping to get her book out there. I wanted to support her and got her first book The Sneaky Lass. At first I read the description and saw it was about pirates in I didn’t think I would like a pirate book but boy was I wrong. This story got my attention and the more I read the more I loved these characters. Such a GREAT SERIES and a great author.
This book was a marvelous end to the series. Going in, I was worried: how could there be enough action in such a bid for peace? Would it feel contrived? How many people were going to die and rip my heart out along with them?
Kennedy Sutton did it once again, with this action-packed ending to the Silver Locket series. The book is well-written and flowed naturally, from the perspective of character actions and events both. I laughed, I gasped, I laughed again, I raged at all of it, and I finally cried. The characters never give up or falter on their core beliefs and desires, and we see them maintain it all right to the end. I was more pleased than words can convey with this resolution. What an absolute joy and a privilege, to read the finale for Jane and so many other characters I have grown to care for. By the end, everything has been truly wrapped up in a bow (one way or another).
Do yourself a favor and read this book. Oh, and make sure you have some tissues handy.

"...somehow, the woman who ran away from Grand Port, the boy on a ship who could scarcely look up from his boots, the she-pirate who burned ships...the woman Bennet knows inside and out and loves anyway, she is me."
In this final book, Jane has to come to terms with every ghost she has been running in her life. Some are easy and others tear her apart. She cycles through all of her selves that she has been until she can find the version of herself she can live with, and even that isn't an easy decision.
I absolutely sobbed for Jane's growth in this book as she mourned not only what she lost, but also what she could never have. While this book did finally give us a happy ending, there certainly wasn't a straight and happy path to that ending by any means. Jane, Bennet, Michael, Hugh, and the rest fought tooth and nail for what they got.
I didn't expect any less from Sutton, but the masterpiece of a series she delivered will stay with me forever. I already knew from the first book that this would be one I recommend to anyone who wants to know my favorite books, but the ending put it up there with Robin Hobb's Farseer series. Very rarely does a series deliver such a phenomenal conclusion, but there it is.
Kennedy Sutton has masterfully written the perfect conclusion to Jane's story. Although it saddens me greatly to see this series end, it couldn't have been better.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading every single book in the Silver Locket series. Kennedy has such a way with putting you in the moment with her characters. In this series I have laughed and cried and sought vengeance with every turn of the page. I got to see characters grow into their own and overcome so much. As silly as it may sound, I feel as if I have found friends and family among Kennedy's written words.
The pacing was perfect, the writing is exquisite, and I absolutely could not put a single one of these books down. I've learned so much about the era of Pirates and nautical facts as well. You can see how much work and research that has gone into these books.
If you've been debating on whether or not to start this series, let yhis be your sign to get started! This is honestly one of my absolute favorite series and I'm honored to have been able to read it. You won't regret it!
This is the last book in the Silver Locket Series, and there could not have been a more perfect way to wrap up this series.
this one was kind of bittersweet, I struggled to start it because I knew it was the last time we would hear about the tales of Jane Ables a prostitute turned fearsome pirate. I love how this book had you looking back on the many versions of Jane and all of the different trials that happened throughout the entire series.
there is so much action, trials, and tough decisions in this final book. Jane will do anything to keep the ones she loves safe though even if that means the loss of others and I love her so much for this. after all she's been through seeing her get her HEA was everything but it came with a great cost.
this series will forever hold a special place in my heart.
This is the last book in the Silver Locket Series so if you're intrigued stop right there and read the rest of the series first.
I have been reading this series for the last year and a half as they have come out and to say I have laughed and wept and lived with these characters with each installment would be accurate.
It being the last is bittersweet heavier on the sweet. We get the happy ending we were promised but not without a little heartache and pirate adventure to round it out.
Hugh is reunited with his niece Lil who is perceptive and naive all at the same time. Jon who Jane has finally claimed as her own is growing up. And Bennett and Jane are finally together racing the seas towards something new and theirs.
I love this series and will revisit it again after my happy heart recovers from all it has lived.
Every other book in the Silver Locket series has taken me two days or less to read because I couldn’t put it down. This one took me several days longer to read. I think I kept putting it off because I didn’t want it to be over. I love the characters so much, and I am comforted by the fact that they will all still be waiting for me in these pages. I cannot recommend this series enough. Read them all. Fall in love with the characters. And read them all again. This is the series that I will always tell anyone who will listen, and even those that don’t, to read. Every book is five stars.
This is the perfect ending to one of my all time favorite series. Kennedy Sutton has tied everything together in a way that will please all her readers. It wasn't an easy road, these characters had to EARN this happy ending, but it felt seamless, never forced.
It is so bittersweet to blow kisses to these characters for the final time. If this were a play, I would throw a bouquet. I would demand an encore.
The world is a better place because these books are in it. I will never forget them.
I couldn't figure out why this book was taking me longer to read than the other 6 in the series, but I finally understand. I didn't want it to end. My heart is sad to leave these characters behind. (Thank goodness Kennedy has prequels and possibly other stories in the works!)
A fantastic end to my favorite pirate story. 🖤 I wasn't sure how it was going to feel at the end, but I feel like it was exactly what was needed for these characters!
Do yourself a massive favor and go read these books!
I wish I could give this book more than just five stars. I wondered how any ending could possibly do this series justice and Ms. Sutton has done just that. This book made me laugh, and in the darkest moments I cried for the characters who have become like my friends. I am so sad to tell them farewell and yet I could not ask for a better conclusion. Ms. Sutton should be very proud of herself for writing this beautiful series, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Take a bow, Captain. Your devoted crew will follow you to the ends of the earth... and beyond.
This conclusion to the sneaky lass series had improved in tears more than once. It was poignant, emotional, and ends just as it should.
This book opens with bad news on good tides with losing Helena Digby. This decides the crew path as Lil now needs to be protected- Zachary is also staying on plus a surprise. Heading for Hiacin, the crew must face pirates, new names, and a sense of displacement as they work towards becoming honest men (and women) and leave piracy behind
Only a handful of chapters in and I was already in tears. I loved Mickey so much I was furious when he died so early in the series. I really loved having Lil as such a pilar for this book. The way she tells stories like him, keeps her journals. It was like having him back and I cried, a lot. I’m so happy with how everyone’s stories wrapped up. This series was such an emotional ride but I’m so glad I found it. I think with 8 books in one year, Kennedy Sutton is definitely my most read author of 2023:
This last book provides the perfect endcap to the The Silver Locket Series. All the tension and heartbreak return for one final volley before the conclusion comes for the saga of Bennett and Jane. I love how things come full circle but also start anew. I want everyone to read this series - I'm always recommending it! If you want to feel all the emotions, root for your favorite characters, and feel your heart burn through all the twists and turns, get this series, finish this series, and then read it all again! You WILL love it.
A wonderful end to this series Jane and Bennett along with their crew decide after all this time struggles they once more want to give honest living a go but their struggles do not end even as they try to forge new identities and a life. The sea calls to them once more in their quest for a clean slate and they must once more face the past and the choices they made with love and loss and the future on the horizon
This satisfying final installment was so hard to put down, yet so heartbreaking to reach the end of, I didn't want the magic to end. Jane, Bennet and the crew want to turn over a new leaf, but trouble is never far behind them. Kennedy Sutton wraps up the series perfectly, the ending isn't contrived. You will devour this series from beginning to end! I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
I enjoyed this series and was hooked from the start. I’ve never read heartbreak romance before and it was true to its name but all ends up ok. I loved reading the development of the characters and getting closure with all our friends. I wanted to learn how Captain Li took the news of Darr; however, I think it’s fitting that we only know as much as Jane and she is still sailing and learning the answers of many things herself.
I cried very quickly with this one not even going to lie. I have loved this series so much and this last book finally gave me the ending I needed after so much heart break throughout. Jane & Bennett have been through so much throughout these books and deserve everything they have worked towards! I definitely need a spinoff for more Jon as he grows up more though because I have loved him being a part of everything and learning along the way.
Last book in the series. I am so sad to see it end. Over the course of 7 books, i have fallen in love with the characters and their adventures. I have smiled, cried, and my heart grew 2 sizes bigger. I absolutely adore Kennedys writing style. The character and world building are absolutely wonderful.
A perfect ending. If you've read the series and you know Jane, you know that fate has always been a roller coaster with her. This book does not disappoint and ends with a satisfactory twist of Fate. If you have not read this series, I highly recommend it! Each book is like a season of a TV series you just keep coming back for more!
This book exceeds all expectations as the spectacular ending to a wonderful series. Jane's story weaves magic throughout all 7 books and Kennedy tied them all up neatly in this amazing read. Full of twists and turns, I laughed, cried, cursed and cheered. Forever recommended, I cannot speak more highly of this series. 10/10 recommend!
What a beautiful ending to a fantastic roller coaster ride of stories. I absolutely love how reflective this book is. The growth and journey all of the characters have taken. Especially Jane. The other books end on such cliff hangers I was interested to see how the end of the end would be. It's amazing. Everything is resolved, but it's not rushed.
I think I devoured this book. It was such a good ending with Bennett and Jane getting their happily every after^^ you get to see a lot more of Mickey’s daughter in this story, and I’m so glad that we do. She’s a great addition to the small family that Bennett and Jane have made. I hope these characters continue to live on^^
A beautiful ending ❤️. This series does morally grey characters right - life is too complicated not to live in the grey. Jane, Bennette, and Hugh answered to their own code, and I found that really interesting. But shout out to Michael, Zachary, and Jon for adding even more heart to the crew. Please, I beg you, have a spin off of Jon and Lil all grown up 🙏.
this was the perfect ending to an emotional roller coaster of a series! We finally see our Jane get a satisfying, plausible, HEA. And no one deserves an HEA more than Jane. Now I just need to know what happens to Lil and Jon...
In keeping with the entire series, this was a brilliant read. I am very much a fan of the author and will be looking out for more from them in the future.
I got 50% into this story, and knew that the sadness hadn’t come yet. When it finally hit I was yelling so loud my children woke up. What a wonderful ending to an amazing tale!
Oh, where do I even begin with A Gambit in the Tons? Kennedy Sutton's final installment in the Silver Locket Series is an absolute triumph! From the moment I cracked open the first book The Sneaky Lass I was hooked. Sutton's storytelling is just...wow. Every twist and turn had me on the edge of my seat, eagerly flipping pages to see what would happen next. And the cast! They're like old friends by now, and seeing their journeys come to such a satisfying conclusion was everything I could have hoped for. In short, the Silver Locket series is an absolute must-read for fans of historical romance. Trust me, you won't be able to put it down!
