I, Ivy Wilson, am apparently a Queen. It sounds far fetched. I had a five-year work at the Camilla until I had enough for a deposit on a shop to start the romance bookstore of my dreams, write my regency romance novels, and survive my pestering mother.
All that crumbles when they appear. Adrian, Rowan, Elias, and Maeve. They claim they’re here for me—the new Queen of Nyx, the rightful heir to the throne of all supernaturals.
But I’m being hunted by fate, darkness, and someone who wants to see the line of Nyx end. If I’m going to survive, I have to trust them. They see me as a job, and I feel more power when they’re close. I don’t know why, and they seem just as uncertain as I am. It’s time for a new Queen to rise…
This book is the first in a brand new paranormal why choose romance, and each book must be read in order. Expect a heroine who loves herself, mates who worship the ground she walks on, and dangers that'll change everything.
I need the next book and I need it yesterday. This is amazing honestly I loved every part of it so much. I need to know what happens next. The storyline is great I love it and the characters, something else I love them all so far in this so I can’t wait for the next one. I highly suggest this to people who love a - why choose - fated mates - FMC - spice This story is written so beautifully with the FMC being a bigger beautiful girl who loves to write being thrown into the supernatural world and figuring her way around her 4 breathtaking protectors. My favourite character so far in this soon to be series is Adrian but I love Ivy and Elias aswell. I can’t wait for everyone else to be able to read this and I can’t wait for the next one 😍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️
I was hooked right from the beginning! I relate to Ivy a lot, and I'm so glad Audrey Moore decided to write this book 💖 The characters are intriguing and complex in their own right. I'm excited for the relationships to develop further as the series progresses since we only got bits here and there from the love interests!
I NEED the next book right now because of the cliffy! I need to know what happens next 😭😭 I can't wait because I know the next couple of books are gonna be even wilder 🤌
So here’s a quick l👀k at the vibe. We’ve got fated mates, multiple relationship parings involving the main characters where none of them are willing to jump in feet first. Everybody is in a little bit of denial. It happens to the best of us. I’m sure everyone will get with the program in their own time. It’s not like it’s a matter of life and death…….. except when it is.
There’s some F/M, some F/F, and even some MFM. Being the first book of the series the 🌶️ was pretty mild, but it feels like that will probably kick up later on in the series. The potential for some heavier 🌶️ is definitely there. FMC is plus size hottie who really embraces self love and breaking the trauma of living with the weight of parental expectations. Gold star ⭐️ for that. We should all be so lucky.
So on to the gist of the storyline. Basically out with the old 👸🏻 and in with the new. Not a bad thing, it’s just time. Apparently not everyone in the realm is exactly on board, but alas you can’t please everyone all the time. A team is selected and sent to the mortal world to intercept the new incoming 👸🏻 and bring her back to take her place. Unfortunately she has zero clue that she’s the new it girl or that supernatural beings even exist.
This being the first book is a lot of foundation laying, which normally is not my jam, but honestly I liked it. The majority of the time in this first installment is intercepting our future Royal and convincing her that everything is real and that despite feeling like she is losing her mind, that she should in fact go with these strangers to a magical land to rule over that land and to trust them with her safety. Then 😈 shenanigans come a knockin’.
All and all it was a pretty fun read and I’m ready to see where the story goes next. I definitely can’t wait to grab 📕 2 when it comes out and see what our future queen and her band of supernatural protectors have in store for us.
This would be a great read for someone just dipping their toes into a sassier style of fantasy romance. It doesn’t jump off the deep end right out the gate and just sort of primes you for some darker things to come. Not everyone comes into it craving the trauma and carnage as much as others. It’s me, I’m others. Nevertheless I’m still on board and ready for more.
Mostly I just got frustrated with THE DAUGHTERS OF NYX which is unfortunate because I thought the beginning started out really strong. However, the middle was dragging so much and literally nothing was happening, it was just Ivy going to work and the team trading out shifts to guard her. Also, why were we told Adrian was shy, quiet, and clumsy when after a brief moment of being flustered he turned into a charming, flirty, and confident guy.
I was also really excited about Maeve because it's rare to find why choose books that have a woman included in the love interests and to sweeten the deal she's also a badass vampire warrior who is leading this mission. But instead of being interesting she's completely looked over in the book. There's minimal scenes with her (up to the point I DNFed) and she hasn't really done anything except decide the guard shifts.
3.5 ⭐️ / 1.5 🌶️ — The FMC wasn’t my favorite, but I liked the love interests, especially the other female character. The world building was a bit sparse, but maybe it will be fleshed out more in the next book.
What a great debut novel. This was such a pleasurable read as it was fast paced, a plus size FMC, 4 why choose love interests that all were interesting and intriguing to read. I loved reading about a female character who was curvier, the only other I've read was Crescent City but even then the representation felt off for Bryce. The supernatural element to the plot was done well and it has a whimsical YA notion to it with the potential to get more gorey and New Adult with another sequel on the way soon!
Overall the pacing of the events was great and the drama to read about was an easy 4 hour read for me. Sometimes it's nice to read books that aren't to intense with politics and the world building but I can definitely see interest in where this series will go. I think their names were hard to relate to only since they seemed common but Rowan and Adrian have a special place for me - and there is so much more to come. 👀 The cliches felt a bit too one the nose for me but we all had a 2008-2012 era phases we all thought were hyped. I rated this one ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨.
So far it's quite bland and inconsistent. The FMC is so poor she moans and complains about minor expenses, but can also afford to take a stay in a hotel for some reason (writer's retreat... I mean, sure, but how is it different from your own home if you spend all day on the phone to your flatmate? If you can afford to throw away a few hundred dollars for no reason I guess, why not pay for a random hotel room instead of just writing in a library or cafe like a normal person).
Everything is super urgent... which is why the harem barely interact with her and just hover around hoping she'll spontaneously figure out what's going on and agree to go with them? They are constantly reading 'reports'... um, from who? it's a secret mission? Who is writing these reports about the thing they're not supposed to talk about?
And it makes no sense why all of them have decided it MUST be a tragic love story... surely the queen's mates will be important, powerful people, like, oh I dunno, the people chosen to retrieve her? the author just needed a throwaway line like "the seer would have told us if we were her mates! so we can't possibly be...." instead with all the winking and nudging the seer did, if I were them I'd be more surprised if I wasn't her mate. That's the world building that should have been done instead of multiple long descriptions of dreams.
The reason no one likes hearing about dreams is because they don't have real meaning. They don't actually change anything or reveal anything, (unless it's your crush telling you they dreamed about you, in which case, go you!).
You can get away with dreams in books if they do change or reveal something... unfortunately these ones don't, aside from existing as a harbinger of dark powers or whatever. I don't need a play by play of the dream for that.
New writers are encouraged to start their story inside the action. Start when the story begins, not two weeks beforehand so we can watch someone go to work every day like usual. Honestly I'm 50% through and the whole book feels like that. Like the actual story is going to start annnyyy minute now...
My final complaint is that Ivy is a disgrace to writers everywhere. She has someone tell her she was alive during the Regency period... the period in which Ivy bases her novels... and she never asks a single question about it. I mean, she doesn't ask anything about magic or their religion or the place she's going to be ruling either, so maybe she's just not a curious person, but come on. My step-dad is a road engineer and he displays about 1000% more passion for asphalt than Ivy did for the hobby she loves so much she wants it to be her full time work. It's just sad.

This is a multi - POV, paranormal, why choose romance.
Tropes:
I received this Arc and wish I had been able to start it sooner than I did. Sadly though, life happens and gets in the way sometimes. When I finally grabbed my tea and blanket, and curled up in my favorite comfy chair, I devoured this book in one sitting. There are so many things I really liked about this book.
The FMC is curvy - Yay, for curvy girl representation. Ivy, our FMC, thinks she is just your everyday, curvy, witchyish … human. Little does she know, there are secrets to be revealed that will change everything. Thea, is quirky, supportive and a perfect sidekick. The characters were all fun and interesting and written well with distinguishable personalities.
This is the first book in the series and the author definitely took the time to set up the world with this book. I have a feeling that the next books will have a little more magical presence and also more spice. I will say, this had less spice than I thought. Even though it was lower on the chili pepper scale, the story didn’t suffer at all. This would be a perfect book for readers wanting to dip their toes into a why choose paranormal romance. This book is intriguing, fast paced, easy going read. Even though it a simple read, it definitely has depth and growth with the story and characters.
I was fortunate to receive an ARC for this book and I can’t thank the author enough. This is a paranormal romance with a Cliffhanger, but hear me out… it’s a good cliffhanger. Let me explain.
This is written in dual POV. With plenty of angst. And it’s intriguing! I’m rating it 0.5 for spice but the tension 10/10! The book flows well and then the last 15%… BAM!!!! Crazy action! It’s great writing, good editing. Is it perfect?… almost… do I care if it wasn’t?…not in the slightest. All I know is I need MORE of this story!
SPOILERS:
This story is about a human, Ivy, and the 4 “others” sent to retrieve their future queen ( no she doesn’t know). A 200 year old female vampire named Mauve Grey, an Alpha wolf shifter named Elias Beckham, the prince (son of the current queen and a spellcaster) Adrian Kingsley and the Seer’s son, the mage, Rowan Archer. They have to protect her from a ploy to prevent the new queen from, well, becoming the new queen and convince her to come to Avalon (the island where they all live).
This is a curvy girl with a coffee addiction (yes please) , reverse harem, I think it’s going to be MFFMM but I just don’t know yet?! I need to know! I need to know what happens next,
I have so many questions: - who is the voice? - who is the skull thingy with the crown? - who is the gross monster in her dreams? - what are those evil shadow things she sees? - what is Thea if not normal?
There are so many little nuances and details and plots that make up part of this story that make it intriguing and interesting, but I’ll let you find out for yourself.
Read it, you won’t be disappointed!

Possible spoilers. I tried not to put any spoilers, but a few may have gotten through since I'm not sure what the synopsis on the back of the book says.
I received this book as an ARC and I have to say this was such a good book I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy. I truly loved this book and couldn't put it down.
The Daughters of Nyx is about Ivy, a woman who thinks she is just a normal human who is hoping to save enough money to have a bookstore someday. Little does she know she is fated to be a Queen in another realm filled with supernaturals. The four supernatural's tasked with bringing Ivy to the current Queen; Maeve, Elias, Rowan, and Adrian all feel a special connection to Ivy. While this book doesn't get into too much detail whether they are her fated mates, it's hard to ignore the connection. I don't want to give too much away and ruin it for other readers, so I won't get into the details.
I am so happy there was plus size representation in this book. As a big girl, I find it hard to relate to characters sometimes because they are always described as thin and fit. The best part is she isn't embarrassed about it, she loves who she is and how she looks. The only thing I was a little disappointed with is I wished there were more moments with Elias. He was my favorite of the four, I just love a grumpy shifter.
I can't wait to read the next book and she what else is in store for Ivy and the gang.
The Daughters of Nyx is Audrey Moore’s debut novel and she’s honestly knocked it out of the park. Firstly, her characters are SO relatable. Ivy and Thea’s friendship is honestly such a vibe and I wish I was friends with them. They just seem so real and I loved how I could relate to them. I mean come on, they read romance novels, and Ivy writes them, Thea bakes, they love coffee and devouring said baked goods and their dream to have a bookshop/cafe combo?!? I’m SOLD.
This book has great pacing, 4 hot supernatural creatures as love interests, mild spice, only one major scene, but it was 🔥🔥🔥. Adrian is a literal cinnamon roll of a man, and he must be protected at all costs. There’s a bit more of an urban/modern setting, and I’m hoping in book two we will see more of the supernatural/paranormal world.
There’s some little bread crumbs that I either picked up on or imagined throughly the book that come to fruition at the end which was so cool to pick up on, and satisfying to see things coming together in the way I was hoping they would.
Release date is Nov 11th so add this little beauty to your tbr!
I’m a sucker for a large harem, especially when it includes unique monsters and a curvy FMC—so this series definitely had elements I enjoy. I also really appreciated the inclusivity and diversity throughout the books so far.
That said, the spice is pretty inconsistent. I understand that each harem member brings a different dynamic, but the sudden shifts—one moment it’s all-in, the next it’s cold and distant—create a bit of emotional whiplash. Still, I’ve stuck with it, hoping for more cohesion.
It’s clear you're setting up spin-offs for side characters... but the issue is, we haven’t really been given a reason to care about them yet. I’d rather see deeper development of the FMC and her current harem before being nudged toward other potential stories. Right now, those setups feel forced and premature.
As the series nears its conclusion, I’m concerned it's trying to cram too much in—introducing important plot elements only to leave them underdeveloped or forgotten. Some relationship arcs feel rushed, or thrown in for the sake of it, which is disappointing after the buildup.
Fingers crossed the final installment brings everything together in a satisfying way.
this book might’ve been good for someone, but it wasn’t for me
Perhaps, it’s because I just finished a genuinely good saga… But this wasn’t it. The pacing is off. I’m not sure I like the characters aside from Ivy, Thea and Maeve. It’s wanting to do something that I’m not sure it is nailing. Why are we halfway through the book and suddenly Elias is calling them Archer and Kingsley? It’s confusing. What’s going on with her mom and why do Maeve and Elias get to know but suddenly we’re editing ourselves so the reader doesn’t get to go know???
I almost DNF’d but didn’t want to give it that power. I don’t know if the cloak & dagger routine is because Moore doesn’t know where the book series is going, but it’s really all over the place. Because honestly, what is going on.
The ending is whatever. There is a cliffhanger but I genuinely don’t care enough to continue. I gave it a second star cause there’s some intrigue at the end, but you have to suffer to make it there. Then there’s also the fact that if you’re like me, a review with one star might make you interested- it’s honestly not worth it. May reconsider when the series ends in May with the last release, but probably not.
Well fuck I’m in trouble because this book is incredibly gripping and addictive. I love everything about it and I can’t formulate anything of value right now because I’ve literally just finished this ARC. All I want is to dive into the next book because of how that just ended.
So many thoughts.
I just know the next books are going to be insane, the character development is going to be top notch, especially with added characters. I honestly loved that the relationships weren’t so instant and forced, each relationship within the group is developing at a really lovely and refreshing rate, I can’t wait for people to be added and secrets to be revealed.
Ivy is such a refreshing character, reading her pov was so easy and I felt instantly connected to her story, as well as those around her. Each character feels well thought out and developed in a way that you don’t need to know everything about them just yet, just like We’ll get to know them more when Ivy does which is great as I feel so eager to complete the series.
I have so many questions right now. Thankyou so much for allowing me to read this, truly cannot wait for the series to be completed.
Should have checked when the next one came out cuzzz danngggg I need the next one fast!!! Thank God it's only a month
Good stuff, idk maybe cuz I'm paranoid but I didn't trust Thea at all which sucks cuz I really do. MC is cool albeit a bit boring. Kinda weird what happened with Rowan though, wish she had explored that more but oh well. Also, I get that she doesn't feel they're mates, but why don't they? I mean it's really obvious they're all mates (although not sure if Maeve is, but would be an interesting take if she was) so the ending wasn't such a huge deal. The book is really predictable but I don't mind, that's not why I read it, I like it a lot. Lastly, this is just a general comment but I always find it odd why her being plus sized is being made such a big deal... If it works for the character, I guess yeah. But in this case, does it need to be a selling point to read this book on her Insta and even in the blurb?
It's cuz this book was short but I do nothing nothing really happened, you have solid characters, even mult POV but they are not explored at all. Just Ivy going to work and guarding her.... It needs to step up
After some more thinking... This was definitely written by someone who wants this to happen to her and wrote a book about it, and I'm not made about it, I wish it was me too, and that's why I like it, beyond that, not much else

I have been hooked on this story and these characters from the beginning to the end, it's a perfect start to the series, written beautifully.
I immediately connected with all the characters, they are all wonderful and complex and there's still a lot to know about them.
Ivy, our amazing MC, who stands up for herself with conviction. I've related a lot to her as a bigger girl + older sister, and I've loved her.
Elias, a grumpy wolf shifter, is my type so obviously is my favorite🤭
Maeve is a hot perfect-soldier vampire. I'm so intrigued by her, being the leader of the mission she has behaved very professionally and I want to see her let herself go with Ivy.
Adrian, a sweet prince mage and Rowan, a cocky mage, they are the ones we know the most about and I really liked seeing their flirtatious side and their vulnerable side.
Thea, Ivy's (also plus-size) bestie, is her greatest support and she herself is very funny and is the best.
Ivy adjusted surprisingly well to finding out supernatural creatures exist, and she is the next Queen of their world! Because of how quickly she adjusted, I cannot wait to see the absolute force I know she is going to become throughout this series! The cliffhanger at the end of this book had my heart racing and me dying to know what is going to happen to one particular character…and the political intrigue happening is bound to have a lot of upcoming surprises.
I love that this why-choose has a female partner as part of the group, and while it appears this may be a pretty slow burn, one book per partner type of series (a la Madison Kate) the chemistry between the characters is palpable. I love that they all have very distinct personalities-sometimes in why-choose books the partners all sort of run together if they aren’t written well enough. In this case, they all have different personalities and are easy to tell apart. I am very much looking forward to Ivy exploring the connection she has with these partners, and I am so so curious to find out more about her bff, Thea!
Cute but slow. Things I liked about this book: Best friends forever, Independent women, Coffee, long term goal/ planning, Openly Bi and Gay female characters that know their preferences and aren't ashamed of them and not being afraid of their own sexual needs. Things I didn't like about this book: characters that claim to be body positive but don't really love themselves, only standing up to bad behaviour in a parent late in the book and only because another child is potentially in danger, believing herself to be undesirable because of her body shape, characters that recognise shame from other characters but not their internalized shame, second guessing her feelings and decisions because of how a boy might react.
This story had a lot of great plot and characters to build on but too many mistakes were made. Like the double up about the gun range and Thea's grandmother, and everything to do with the mother and sisters. The two characters I liked the most were Thea and Maeve. This story has a lot of potential and I look forward to the followups.

Before I get into the nitty gritty - I received this book as an ARC.
Spoiler free review.
This story - wow! I was a bit unsure in the beginning as it took me a little bit to get into the plot, but once I got into it, I was addicted and couldn't put it down. Some of it was a tad predictable, but find me a romance novel that doesn't have some predictability. The ending makes me absolutely impatient for the sequel and I cannot wait! Thankfully not too long, as it's supposed to come out May next year. I highly recommend this book!
Finally, I want to say that as a fellow curvy woman, I appreciate how Audrey Moore describes Ivy. I feel like curvy women are underrepresented in the book industry, and the handful I have found did not do them justice. Thank you Audrey Moore for doing us curvy women justice with your writing.
This is such a good book. I loved the different POVs we got from most of the characters. Ivy , the FMC, does kinda one off as a bit of a pain and wishy-washy, but honestly her reaction is relatable and justified.
A detail I wanted to share, that I loved was both the FMC and her bff were both curvy girls. The thin girl being friends with the curvy girl routine, sometimes comes off as condescending.
The only reason I’m taking a star is because of the formatting. Usually formatting issue get in my nerves, and I have to DNF, but these weren’t too bad and spread out. One thing I did also want to note was that the formatting did change halfway through and idk if it’s because they actually fixed it, or if it’s because I’m on the app instead of a normal kindle. Either way, I’m glad it’s fixed.
I can’t wait to get into the rest of the series!!!
Debut novel by Audrey Moore. This series has so much potential, and book 1 is off to a great start. Ivy is a curvy heroine who believes she is human but discovers she is the Daughter of Nyx and destined to be Queen. A team of supernaturals are sent to bring her back to Avalon to begin her training but of course there is a group trying to stop this from happening. And while this is a why choose and you get an idea of who her mates are supposed to be, the book ends on a cliffhanger with no real answers. I'm so ready for book 2 now so I can see where this is all going. Love that Ivy is a curvy girl, love that it's not insta love and we are going a little bit of a look at the possible mates. And love the potential of where the storyline can go. Great start to a series
I really loved this book and I so can’t wait until the next in the series arrives!
Things I loved: - FMC, Ivy, is amazing. She was super strong, but sweet and caring too. - Great best friend character, Thea, who isn’t left out of all the action, gets to be in the know from the start. - There was some spice! (And it was written well) - Why Choose/ Fated Mates - loved the selection of mates so far (wondering if there will be more? ᵕ̈)
This story was well written, and had a great start to the world building that I am sure gets more developed when things move to the more supernatural parts in the next book. I love the way the storyline is developing and can’t wait to see how it will unravel.
I liked it. I think it should probably be just under 4 stars, but I rounded up because the series has a lot of promise and room to grow. It’s a slow burn and we only see minimal relationship building, but that’s because we’re getting a lot of FMC development and world building so I’m ok with it. She’s great: strong, smart, level headed. I’ve never read a RH with another female as part of the harem and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. She didn’t have a big role yet so time will tell. I did preorder the next book because it ends in a cliffhanger and I’m excited to see how it develops. Solid read with great potential in future books.
I went into this not knowing what to expect given the synopsis. Sure I knew it was meant to be some sort of paranormal RH situation, but I was not expecting such a captivating novel. The plot is intriguing and mysterious. The characters are all unique and multifaceted, and their relationships seem to be developing naturally and not forcibly. The best part? The FMC is plus sized and it's not just glossed over, it's actually part of the story and her roommate is plus sized as well showing double representation. I am definitely looking forward to the remainder of the series.
This author had me at “plus size FMC why choose” and the book itself did not disappoint! The story was well paced and oh my gods is it fantastic.
The representation of a badass plus size woman who has done the work to recover from what she has been through to love her body hits so hard that it brought me to tears.
This wasn’t a smut heavy book (truly only one scene), but I’m hoping for more of that as the series goes on.
Warning that this ends on a bit of a cliffy. When I finished it I yelled out “I NEED BOOK 2 AND I NEED IT NOW”
I officially have a new auto-buy author. I'm a slow reader, but if work hadn't gotten in the way, i would have read it in one sitting. It's a paranormal fantasy reverse harem with a plus size heroine destined to be queen of the supernatural. Well, that's what she's told by the hot new neighbors who are actually supernatural soldiers sent to retrieve and protect her. Between the romance that everyone is fighting against and the mystery of who wants to hurt her, you can't stop reading. Go dive in this world of shifters, vampires, and mages, and you won't want to come out.
Just finished *Daughters of Nyx* and what a good book that is! I couldn't put it down! Ivy is living her life trying to fulfill her dreams when five people from a different realm come to her and tell her she is the Queen of Nyx. Her powers slowly come in, and to harness her powers she needs mates.
There are some hints, and it's quite obvious that the five people (there is a woman!) are her mates, but in this book, we don't see them interact as mates. It's a wonderful start to a series. It is not spicy at all, but there are hints for a reverse harem with FF. Looking forward to reading book 2!
I really enjoyed this book. I am stoked to have gotten an ARC. I actually forgot it was an ARC because it is exactly something I would have picked for myself. The story is great. Lots of unexpected twists, and some expected or hoped for twists too. The spice is plot appropriate and not forced. Overall I recommend this one for adults who like modern fantasy with a twist, and I will be reading the next one as soon as it is available.
Fast paced read with great plus size representation. Something I really enjoyed was this book was body positive without the constant reminder that’s she’s plus size, just normal!
Why choose was done right too, we get some slow burn, some instant attraction, some possessive males and more.
The story telling was great, and I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
