The E stands for Elizabeth, but I also go by Liz. I am a complete Lord of the Rings and cat enthusiast, but not necessarily always in that order. Books hold such a special place in my heart. They have taught me so many things about the world and myself, and of course, plenty of other fantasy worlds as well. If I have learned anything over the years, it's that books can be a safe place. I hope that my words make you feel loved, seen, and accepted. You deserve it.

Magical sirens, nefarious pirates, enchanted objects, and revenge plots – A Kiss of the Siren’s Song is a fantastical and endearing Sapphic pirate adventure.

Summary: When Captain Drakkon visits a tavern seeking crew for a dangerous (and mysterious) voyage, bystanders Sybine and Elora each sign on. Sybine, a wanted thief, seizes this opportunity to evade her warrants, while Elora joins the Vindicta to execute a long-anticipated revenge. When it becomes apparent that their villainous captain seeks a mythical weapon, the pair join forces to stop Drakkon before he acquires limitless destructive power.

Review: AKOTSS delivers a vibrant and engrossing story. I think a lot of people will love this book. The intriguing, vaguely sinister voyage grasps readers attention right away, drawn in by the desire to uncover the captain’s true motives. The protagonists have great chemistry, and the book features several much-adored romance tropes. I particularly enjoyed the magical imagery, especially that surrounding the antagonists; the striking visuals really set the tone and enhance the action.

Those seeking a classic pirate adventure will not be disappointed. For me, this book evoked Muppet Treasure Island—strictly in a “Sailing for adventure on the bounding main” way! You know, someone joins a ship crew out of necessity and gets more adventure than they bargained for. Most normal people would probably just say “Treasure Island” but MTI was my favorite childhood movie and is permanently ingrained in my memory, so I’m sticking with the comparison.

As terrible as this probably is to admit, Captain Drakkon was my favorite character. What can I say? I LOVE A VILLAIN. And Drakkon was satisfactorily despicable, deranged, and tortured—all while looking completely badass. This man is so worked up after his wife and child drown that he is willing to go to the ends of the earth just to fight the physical embodiment of the sea?? Say less.

Overall, AKOTSS is a pretty wholesome book. Good overcomes evil. Virtues like trust, truth, compassion, and love are rewarded. It’s engaging, tropey, and delivers as promised on action, adventure, and Sapphic romance.

May 20, 2025 re-read/first audiobook listen:

Thank you to the author for the Audible download! Laura Horowitz's narration is everything! She really captured both the cute romantic moments and the pirate fantasy vibes. It really elevated my re-read/listen. If you're a fan of audiobooks, I'd definitely recommend the audiobook version.

Original review:

This a lovely sapphic pirate adventure that starts out really cute and gets progressively darker plotwise (which I wasn't expecting but I dig it lmao).

The relationship between Elora and Sybine is healthy and supportive and I'm here for it. It also reads realistic because their love is built on trust and friendship. I'm someone who's not a fan of romance in general, but I'll definitely vouch for this pairing lol

I just wish the back and forth POV chapters weren't so short and abrupt though. It's hard to get into a character's headspace and then have to switch to the other character. In some parts of the book, the two POVs feel like they're blending together because of this. But ymmv because I know this is a me problem with multiple POV books.

Overall, I absolutely loved how this novel emphasizes the importance of having a support system. I feel like this was the main lesson in the story. This is a romance novel that doesn't feel overtly in-your-face. It's sweet and lovely with enough dark fantasy to keep you on your toes.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review, so here is my honest review 🧜‍♀️.

I adore pirates and I have the overwhelming need to consume more sapphic literature, that's the reason why I picked up this book in the first place- and as promised, I was delivered a love story of a withdrawn pirate and a silly siren on the run.

I want to speak little bit of the main pair and their characters as they definetly take up all of the time in this book. Elora is very early on described as a hard faced pirate who isn't exactly afraid to get her hands dirtied. I struggled a little to connect with her for this reason. There were constant descriptions of her capabilities to fight/her stoicism was brought up heavily. She was also pretty much very arrogant when talking of overpowering other people which made me a little annoyed from time to time. My problem isn't exactly with her outer cold nature, but rather the way it was shown in rough sentences instead of slowly taking a deeper look into her character. I also felt like she trusted Sybine very early on considering the way her character was written, I was expecting to see more doubting and internal struggle on her behalf in the process of forming trust.

I don't have much to say about Sybine. I found her silly in a good way. She's carefree and not so carefree whilst running away from the mistakes of her past life. I liked her powers and her connection to the sea, but I so wished there had been more explanation for it. Her abilities were the one thing I wanted to find out more about!!

I had trouble with the pacing of this book. I found the last 100 pages to be considerably more interesting and action packed than the start of the book. I was confused at first when I started reading, there wasn't much buildup for anything before you're thrown into the ship with the characters. I didn't mind it, but I constantly felt like there was a lack of information about the world, about the waters they were sailing on. I also hoped there would have been robbing on the pirates' part since I imagine that was their main source of income, so I was a little confused when the captain didn't even mention any possible targets at least for deception in order to keep the true destination a secret?

This review is already getting too long so at last lets give a moment to the main spotlight of this book: Sybine & Elora

I can't say bad about them. They deserve to be happy and I was all too soft for them getting soft for each other. Maybe I was looking for more pining but that's just cause I'm a sucker for slow romance. Their dynamic works, though again I wished for a little slower pace for the way they so quickly gain trust on each other. Though I do understand, that in these certain situations where a person who was faced misfortunes alone for so long is offered a warm geniune embrace, it isn't exactly something that makes you want to go on defensive immediately.

Overall I'm grateful for being granted to read this book early on🙏

Overall rating: 4.5/5 ⭐
Spice level 2.5/5 🌶️
Action & adventure: 5/5 ⚔️

There is nothing better than a book that elicits emotions within a reader- A Kiss of the Siren's song was one of those books for me.
The growing love between Elora and Sybine throughout the book made me blush, giggle, and bite my nails in anticipation.
The longing for the characters' lost ones made me feel their grief and fondness, and helped build the two leads in a way that makes them genuine and familiar.
I was also left on the edge of my seat by all the secrets and revelations in the book. The author is full of intent and meaning, so nothing is just coincidence.

I highly recommend this book to any fantasy lover!

I think I'm in my pirate era because I'm devouring sea related books like crazy. I adored this spicy fantasy romance with strong heroines and morally gray characters. This is a sapphic romance, which made it all the more better. I would definitely recommend this one if you are a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean but wanted it gay.

This was such a fun sapphic pirate fantasy! It hits that sweet spot of feeling classic and unique at the same time, like it belongs on a shelf next to Pirates of the Caribbean and Treasure Island, but still manages to chart its own course.

Elora and Sybine are such a fantastic pair. Elora is a “muscle mommy” pirate—and Sybine is her perfect foil: soft-spoken, naive, sweet, but FAR from helpless. Their relationship starts from circumstance, but watching them slowly open up to each other and evolve into something genuine and emotionally rich was such a highlight. It’s that slow-burn kind of chemistry.

I listened to the audiobook, which was mostly a great experience. The narrator handled the tone shifts well, especially with the frequent POV changes. The only drawback is that the chapters were pretty short, which sometimes made the pacing feel choppy—especially when the story was gaining momentum. But otherwise, the audiobook helped bring the world to life in all the right ways.

Drakkon, the villain, deserves a shout-out too. He’s the perfect kind of terrifying: totally ruthless, but grounded in understandable (if twisted) motivations. He’s not evil for evil’s sake—he's clinging to his grief, and that made him all the more compelling.

There were a few quirks—some overly detailed diversions into things like dice games that didn’t always feel necessary (though eventually tied into larger plot points), and a few moments where the grief threads got tangled, especially since almost everyone in this book has lost someone. But those are minor issues in a story that’s otherwise rich, heartfelt, and extremely well-executed.

Seriously, if you’re craving a pirate fantasy with heart, grit, queer romance, and a healthy dose of emotional depth, this one absolutely deserves a spot on your radar. Super fun!

2.5 Stars

Unfortunately, the world building was severely lacking and inconsistent. There seemed to be more detail given to card and dice games than to main character backstory or world lore. The first two thirds or so was honestly a slough to get through. The last third or so became quite fast-paced to the point of overwhelm. I was frequently questioning if I missed something, re-reading, and finding I hadn't - the info I wanted just wasn't on the page. My suspension of disbelief was frequently broken because of these imbalances, which made it difficult for me to connect with and care for the characters. An unfortunately disappointing read overall that sadly did not live up to its potential.

That being said, there is a lot to love in these pages. Normalization of queer relationships and demonstrating what consent can look like is so so important - this particular book just didn't resonate otherwise.

Let me start off by saying this was an exquisite read! I was hooked right from the start. The story began strong as two women plotted to board a pirate ship as men, each with their own agenda. This drew me in right away! The story quickly unfolds from there, and before I knew it, I had already made my way halfway through the book. Where at first I was a bit intimidated by the size of the book, I soon knew that 600 pages wouldn't be enough, and I was right! I flew through the pages as the pacing is quite high. The ending was insane, and left me gasping. I need to know how the story continues! If you love pirates, a swoon-worthy sapphic romance, and a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more: this one is for you!

This story had me hooked right from the start, and I loved how the slow burn between the characters contributed to some truly solid world-building that felt incredibly organic. It’s as if the world itself was unfolding alongside the characters, allowing me to immerse myself fully in their journey.

I cherished how the slow burning tension wasn’t just about romance; it enhanced the story’s richness and made every revelation about the world feel earned and meaningful. The vibrant details Trofimenkoff weaves into the setting and the characters' histories kept me engaged, making it impossible to put the book down.

Also that spice hits at chapter 44, so and it is good!

Magic, adventue, vicious pirates, sirens, intrigue, betrayal, and sapphic romance.

Is it the best book you'll ever read? No. But I still devoured it ( i'm on my pitate era). I was really invested in the characters. The book is slow-paced though, so sometimes I wanted to toss it through a window or something. And I was questioning my life decision as a reader half of the time. Still, I end up liking the characters development and the plot.

Just another example of Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

How are we supposed to take these ladies seriously, mainly Sybine, when this initially begins. It is an entirely male crew, no women allowed. And Sybine...the blushing, her speech, I mean, she doesn't try at all to pass as a man. So you're telling me that no one is curious as to why the rookie is so feminine? It just doesn't fit the context and really breaks the immersion.

What also breaks the immersion, is the surface-level plot and language such as, Gramps, Kiddo, and Squiddo. Sybine is a ditz. Elora is the only character with some substance. But again, you're telling me the rest of the crew are all background characters we never interact with and no one blinks an eye at two very feminine looking men? I mean, she rubs dirt on her face and the other one has short hair and they wear binders and we are supposed to believe no one thinks twice about who they really are?

And this plot!!! There's nothing to the villain except he is just an evil guy. This whole story wasn't convincing. I had no reason to be entranced.

So she just wonders her whole life who she is? And suddenly realizes she is a siren? I don't know. This was just all so lame. Just because there are lesbian "pirates" doesn't make this good enough to deserve anything other than 1 star (I originally was going to give it 2 stars but at 80% it just got even worse). This book was LGBT for sh*ts and giggles but it wasn't done well. Really? Everyone just happens to be bi or whatever and suggesting polyamory for funnsies. I'm pretty sure this isn't the diverse plot and representation people asked for. These details felt more like throwing crap at the wall and hoping it sticks just to say you were trying to reach a wider audience.

Also, are Elora and Sybine related or did I miss something? This entire book suffers from meaningless details and absolutely no substance. At least try to be convincing!

Read this book if you want a headache.

4.5/⭐️ 2/🌶️ Do you love pirates but make it more intriguing? Hidden identities, secret, and magic? Well look no further, have I got the book for you! Elora and Sybine are both on a mission. One is on the run and the other is looking for revenge. Their paths cross and before long a connection begins to form between them.

Elora has a hard time trusting others and it takes time for her to open up more to Sybine. Sybine is the first person in a long time she truly feels she can trust. The characters development in this story was so well done. The plot was light in the first half but builds in the second half.

There was great tension and romance. There is some spice in there too and it was well done! I highly recommend this, happy reading!

Hello! I am an editor who has grown tired of reading the same posts on Reddit complaining about how "all romantasy books are the same" and "why aren't there any new ideas??" - so I have started a review series called "An Editor Read This So You Don't Have To." The idea is to give readers an idea of all the new and amazing books coming out, as well as the quality of some older ones, from the view of a professional reader. I hope my review of this novel will come in handy for anyone browsing for a new must-read!

My Review:

Spice Level: 3/5 (Open Door, Mildly Explicit) - Consistently adult (possibly NA). Would not recommend for young teens due to the explicit nature of the romance scenes.

My Means of Reading: Kindle Paper-White (I read Kindle Unlimited version)

Review TLDR: Worth a rent on Kindle Unlimited, maybe wait for it to go on sale if you really like it.

Overall: I found this book well-written and above average in quality. It won't win any awards for its prose, but there were several lines that made me stop and think while the overarching plot was engaging. The ending was sweet, and I liked the reveal with one of the characters, but the epilogue felt...odd. I will give it points for being original and for not relying on melodrama to push the plot forward. I also really liked the setting of the ship, but the world building was light and I honestly couldn't tell you anything about the planet they are on if I tried.

Pacing: Smooth and steady wins the race in this book. No big, flashy reveals to bounce between (not that there aren't reveals! There is even a cliff-hanger at the end of the novel) means that the author can take their time and tell the story they want to tell. Props to the author for not leaning into unnecessary drama just for the sake of it.

Character Development: The characters act their ages (seemingly mid-twenties). They are mature enough to have hard conversations, but young enough to want to avoid them when they can. Still, when secrets are shared, no acts like they were personally harmed or wronged and the plot keeps moving. I did side-eye on of the character's choices to be so trusting of others, but the more I thought about it the more I realized...that's just a common theme for that character. It's presented as a positive trait and it later helps her, so I won't say it was a "character acts dumb so the plot can move" situation, but that is how it felt on my first pass. I will be interested in knowing what you all think when you get there.

Filler/Padding: Very little padding, if any. The plot moves consistently, without big ups and downs, so the author didn't need to fill in spaces between big reveals.

Obvious Errors an Author/Editor Should Have Caught: I didn't notice too many misspellings and words were used used correctly, but I did have a few moments where the language felt too modern for me (uses of the word "weird" and the phrase "that frost thing I do"). YMMV, but the writing felt appropriate for the setting in 98% of the cases, so the modern colloquialisms took me out. That said, I found nothing I would grab my pitchfork over. One thing I did notice is that occasionally one of the characters will give mini speeches that clearly are intended to push the book's themes, which is a little jarring. It helped after a while to think of her as a Greek chorus instead of just a character. An editor probably would have asked the author to tone the speeches down a little just to keep them from being so on the nose.

Pirates, sirens, and sapphic romance.... Where has this book been?? And why didn't I know about it?! I mean, really, what more does a fantasy need?

Let's get the why-wasn't-it-4/5-stars out of the way. I ended the book with way too many questions. A few are fine, especially with fantasy, and with a sequel on the way. But...this was a lot of questions. Like, I'm a little confused, even after talking it out with a friend. One of these questions borders on a plot hole, but I am holding out hope the sequel answers some things.

There are two specific things I must point out. First, Loren watches this crew get put together, and while something is obviously off in this situation, it isn't until they have set sail and she watches the general lack of order, no specific assignments, and ensuing chaos on the first day that she is suspicious. She is a seasoned pirate, has an agenda of her own, and knows this captain better than anyone on board. So why did it take until they set sail for her to question the true purpose of this mission? To be clear, this is a minor thing, maybe she just didn't focus on the thought until they set sail, because she was more worried about getting in, blending in, and not being recognized. But it just made me pause.

And one scene I just cannot stop thinking about. So both Loren and Sybine are hiding their identities, right? Due to the fact that they are women and women aren't allowed on the voyage (and Loren has to hide her real identity because of her past with Drakkon). But eventually, as they grow closer, they come clean with each other, eventually sharing their true names. I thought that was sweet and trusting and I liked that they had this shared secret. Until in one scene, when Loren says Sybine's real name in front of another pirate, and no one reacts. She is supposed to be Sebastien aboard this ship, but Loren says 'Sybine'...and nothing happens. That is very clearly a writer mistake, and kind of a huge one. This book revolves around their secret and why they are keeping their identities a secret (other than gender), and yet the author does the name flub. I'm just.... No, I can't let it go, sorry.

I have to share my favorite quote, though, because it is one of the only times I have ever highlighted anything in an ebook.
"There's a darkness in me, Sybine. Whatever light you bring out in me can't erase that. It will stain you."
"Then it stains me. I will wear it with pride."
Would that work on me. ....Yeah, it kinda would. What can I say?

The last third of the book really speeds things up. We go from pirates and hidden identities to demons and magic. The magic is hinted at, with Sybine having this inexplicable power over men and their minds (did she never question why she could do that?), but it goes to a whole other level. And that is a part of why I have so many questions. So I really hope the sequel clears some of that up.

Overall, I genuinely did enjoy this, and the sequel feels WAY too far away(4 months)! I loved the dynamic between the FMC's, and despite Sybine's lack of experience on a ship, she wasn't a damsel in distress. The end fight scene felt a little repetitive, but the ending wasn't unsatisfying. I definitely want more mermaid/siren stories, I can tell you that.

I did not love this book. Usually when I'm reading a book, I'll jot notes down as I read and formulate my thoughts into a review later on. But sometimes... Sometimes in times like this, I feel like it's just better to publish my unfiltered, unedited thoughts as recorded along the way. So here we go...

1. Badass bisexual female pirates should be my jam, but these particular badass female bisexual pirates are coming across like they're trying way too hard. Like, instead of looking like bad-asses, they come out looking like psychopaths.

2. Also, we've got a whole chapter here devoted to a card game that as far as I can tell is a made up game just for this book, with cards that are also made up just for this book. And it's a whole chapter about a card game with the reader does not understand. "Six of water, fuck. Not an ace or a two and not low enough to keep." What does that mean?! Why did we spend a whole chapter here?!

3. The characters are very repetitive in their narration. Like, they don't have to remind us every other sentence that they've got a secret hidden agenda. We know that they're up to something, we know that they've got other goals, but every other line is something that reminds us about it so we don't forget.

4. Okay, This might have been addressed in an earlier chapter, but I can't help but wonder where Sabine is getting the dirt from that she's smudging out to her face. Aren't they on a ship? Are there any potted plants on the pirate ship?

5. I just can't get a beat on these characters. Like, they go from absolutely psychotic to kind and sympathetic in a split second. This is before they found out each other's secrets by the way, they're just inexplicably soft to one another even though, as far as they both know, the other person is just some random dude on the ship. And they both have been pretty explicit about hating all the men. Like, we're going straight from "I'm here if you want to talk." To "his will be a nice addition to my tongue collection."

6. Maybe this is an example of my own ignorance again, but as far as I know it, pirate ships don't usually have individual rooms unless you're the captain or maybe-MAYBE- some other higher up on the crew. Then you might get your own cabin or a stateroom. But individual rooms with 2 bunks each to accommodate the rest of the sailors? That's wild. Space is at a premium on ships, don't they usually just have like.... Mass sleeping barracks and shit?

7. TF? Where the hell did this demon come from? You can't just drop that shit in halfway through the book. There was no mention of any demon or even of demons existing before this. What the fuck is going on? Where is this plot coming from? Where is it going?

8. "Nothing is ever truly hopeless." These characters are so inconsistent!! You were the world's biggest cynic a few chapters ago!

9. Thoughts during the final chapter: wow, this Prince is a dick.
Thoughts during the epilogue: wow, this prince is canonically a dick in a way that's relevant to the plot.

10. The ending here was wild. I spent pretty much the whole book thinking Harlen was the best character, and then I guess it turns out Harlen was almost every other character the whole time anyway.

I didn't love this book. It wasn't a bad read, it just wasn't something I enjoyed reading, even though it's in my most frequently read genre.

I found that this book read like a first novel that could have used some further development before publishing for the following reasons:

- I will admit my first complaint will seem silly to many, but I take issue with the spacing and font size in the printed copy of this book. It is set up more like a new reader Y/A novel with double-spaced lines and a comparatively large font size for the genre. Had the structure of the book been more in line with genre standards this book would have far fewer pages and made fewer promises to readers who chose the book "by its cover" the way I did. I was expecting more of an epic fantasy based on the size of the book and received something of a short story/light reading novel. The cover is nicely done, though the graphics could use some polish to avoid any issues with the image layering. I assume that the margins are a symptom of Amazon's printing service, as all of the books that come from these printers tend to have this same printing flaw, image quality issues may also be from formatting struggles in this regard.

- Some plot points seemed disconnected and drawn out, kind of like the author had an outline and stuck too closely to it, while at the same time not giving the time and attention needed to develop the character's relationships and motivations. I got the main points but, craved more depth, detail, and meaning from the scenes.

Overall, those are my only real complaints. As mentioned this isn't a bad book however, it kind of just plods along from one scene to the next without much character growth, and without the reader really understanding why this journey is happening. The book also ends with a cliffhanger that reads as if we as readers are supposed to have significantly more information about the main character's backstory, the structure of the world, etc. As readers, we just don't have anywhere near enough information about the world or story for the ending to make any kind of sense.

I hope that this review is taken in the tone in which it is meant, as I intended only to provide constructive criticism, for the benefit of the author as well as anyone making a decision to read this book or not.

Sybine is on the run after stealing something valuable from a prince. With posters continuing to spread all around with her picture on them. She decides to change her name to Sebastian and hop on the Vindicta.

On the ship, she meets Elora, who also is hiding her identity. She goes by the name Loren and joins Vindicta for revenge for what happened to her father.

“This old man’s seen it all. And although these eyes have had their share of years, I always know what I see.”

While joining a crew and hiding who she is. Harlen looks after Sybine from the beginning. It was so easy to fall in love with Harlen because of his advice, his courage, and his heart. He made things a lot easier for both Elora and Sybine.

This book is action-packed with lies and secrets you will easily find yourself lost in the book and world. I could not put this book down once I started it!

I enjoyed trying to figure out the secrets and read between the riddles.

“You are a dangerous creature, Sybine.”
The slow burn was torture for a while but once the spice came, I was so excited and ready for it!🔥🔥

“You have proven yourselves to be strong, courageous, smart, and honest. I might have known.”

With a hidden cave traveling through different doors. Both Elora and Sybine are tested and asked if they seek the Fang. With them wanting no one to hold that power, they discover a secret that you will not see coming!!

I was mind-blown when I found out who The Sea King was.🤯 Talk about a big surprise! But that’s not all. When Elore and Sybine assume they solved all their problems when they return to the land. Things take a twisted turn…..

“She was mine. Mine. And no other’s.”

Thank you, E. A. M. Trofimenkoff for allowing me to be a part of your ARC team! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.

This book is packed with action, adventure, and magic. It was my first pirate themed read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. But more than the adventures of pirates, it was a book filled with lines and passages about accepting yourself, and allowing yourself be loved.

I listened to the book mostly but needed to grab a few lines because they were so powerful.

“I don’t know who convinced you that beauty can only exist in one form. The setting sun is beautiful, and so is dim candlelight, and they are nowhere near the same. The beauty of the world, and everything in it, does not take away from or distract me from yours, because make no mistake, Elora, you are beautiful.”

“Love is not transactional. You can’t buy it. You can’t trade it. You definitely can’t own it. Love is a gift.”

Just look at that! To find that alongside magic and demons and vengeance and escape... Amazing! I loves our main couple and really felt their friendship form and develop. Some side characters were fun too, and I loved how it all ties together.

And just when everything seems like it's coming together to end well, that wee epilogue gives us a brilliant wee cliffhanger!

The audiobook was amazing. Prase to Laura Horowitz for an absolutely incredible performance. I honestly loved all of her voices - mens, womens, women pretending to be men... Utterly fantastic!

Listen to this if you can, read it if you can't. But enjoy it whichever way you do books!

A Kiss of The Siren Song captured my heart and dragged it straight to the bottom of the ocean—in the best way possible. I actually found this book by accident after seeing a post about a different book in the series, and I am now fully obsessed.

Two women disguised as men, a cursed pirate ship, dangerous secrets, and the looming threat of the Kraken’s Fang, this book has everything I love about sapphic fantasy romance. The slow-burn tension between the leads was addictive, and the atmosphere, the creeping danger, the tangled loyalties, made it impossible to put down. Add in a truly wicked villain and a high-stakes plot, and it felt like every chapter raised the stakes and deepened the emotional pull. This story was action-packed and heartwarming, with plenty of dark magic, daring, and soft, blooming connection underneath all the danger. I loved the way the characters’ secrets unraveled alongside their feelings, each revelation pulling me in deeper.

If you want pirates, slow-burn sapphic romance, betrayals, ancient magic, and absolutely unhinged adventure vibes, A Kiss of The Siren Song deserves a place at the top of your TBR. I cannot wait to dive even deeper into this series.

⭐ 4.75/5 - A stunning, high-seas Sapphic fantasy that stole my breath. Adventure, magic, betrayal, romance, this is the shipwreck I wanted to drown in.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5

Thank you to E. A. M. Trofimenkoff for an eARC copy in exchange for my honest review!

Things I didn’t know I needed in my life. A sapphic pirate romance with fake identities and some slow burn action. This was my first sapphic romance and I’m hooked! I loved Sybine and Elora so much and their vulnerability. The topics of grief and healing are handled beautifully.

A Kiss of a Siren’s Song is beautifully descriptive and transportive. I lost myself in the world so quickly. The plot didn’t pick up right away but I think that was necessary to build in the rich back stories for our main characters. I do think there could have been a bit more world building at the beginning intermixed with those back stories though.

I GOT 3 WORDS FOR Y’ALL—Sapphic 👏 Pirate 👏 Romance 👏

A Kiss of the Siren’s Song is an INCREDIBLE romantasy full of action and adventure of the Pirates of the Caribbean variety, with a spïcy, swoonworthy love story inspired by real life pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read!

My favorite part is the tension-filled banter and scorching chemistry between Elora and Sybine. I’m utterly OBSESSED. I haven’t read such a poignantly quotable book in so long! UGH I love them so much and need MORE🥵

What to Expect:
—F/F Romance
—Pirates + Sirens
—Hidden Identities
—Only One Bed
—Who Did This to You?
—Plenty of 🔥

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed above are entirely my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book by EAM Trofimenkoff. Pirates, sirens (but not in the sense most of us think) so definitely read the Author’s note before diving in. The end of the book is by far the best part of the story where we learn more about Harlan, and I don’t think this could have been anywhere before that point. Some of my favourite quotes are “Love is not transactional. You can’t buy it . You can’t trade it. You definitely can’t own it. Love is a gift.”, this stuck out to me because it is so true yet so many equate buying things is love but deep down it isn’t. The other is “There is still life after loss, even if it doesn’t always feel that way.” I can’t wait to see what happens with the ending leaving us hanging…

So sorry, but this wasn't great. I enjoyed the storyline itself, but it also had some - I wouldn't call them plot holes, but more like plotlines that simply were illogical and unrealistic.

Two women on a boat, dressed as men, and no one knows. Doesn't seem realistic. One just covered her face with a hat? Wtf?

A woman who can control men is scared of men? Making her scared just to create a scene for the FMCs to kiss. Yeah no. She's a woman who barrels into a burning building, but is too scared to run when two men are running toward them. Just no.

Also, pretty sure ships like this don't have two person rooms. But maybe I'm just imagining a pirate ship and not a cruise. 🙈

So yeah, not for me.

This book was given to me as an ARC by the Author, in return for an honest review

This book is a sapphic pirate romance. I enjoyed this book a lot! I’ve been wanting to read a Pirate/Pirate romance book for a long while and that really filled that empty hole I had been craving!

Sybine and Eloras romance was so captivating! I loved every second, this was my first WLW (sapphic) romance as well and I was pleasantly surprised 🥰 I found myself rooting for them the whole way through!

However it did take me a while to get into it, but with the shorter chapters it helped pick the pace up a lot and I was hooked not too far in!

This is a spicy pirate fantasy romance with powerful female main characters and plenty of lies, mystery, and action. I really enjoyed reading this book! I have t resd too many pirate books, but the ones I have read I’ve really enjoyed, and this was no exception. I loved watching our two FMCs grow as individuals while also simultaneously growing closer together. I also really appreciated the representation of grief and thought it was so well written. Def recommend picking this one up, especially if you love Pirates of the Caribbean and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas!

Thanks to the author for gifting me a copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
