Dungeon Bound 4

Rate this book
With the return of the Domain Crystal, Merideva is secure for the moment, despite the terrifying darkness hidden in the dungeon’s depths.
Gabriel and his bonded have spent three weeks working to stabilize the Dungeon Core’s much enlarged Domain.
But increasing undead incursions have them scurrying to keep the monsters which lurk beneath their territory from drawing the ire of the planet-spanning Adventurer’s Guild.
Along with defense, they must find new allies to strengthen Merideva and improve their chances of survival.
Gabriel still grieves for his fallen bonded, but with the other three at his side, he is determined to protect his Core and build the power base needed to crush the Swarm infesting the lowest floors. If they wind up rejuvenating the city of Lostbarrow in the process, he can live with that.

I didn't quite love this book as much as book 3, but it's as least as good as books 1 and 2.

If you got this far in the series, you're going to like this book, so very much recommended.

That being said, it does show the same weaknesses as earlier books in the series - a strong tendency to get sidetracked into big fights that sort of come out of nowhere, take up a bunch of time, but don't progress the plot.

There's just so many times that I want to read about a bunch of undead or some asshole adventurers popping up and threatening innocent people, then the protagonist jumps in, casts some spells, gets a bit beat up, but manages to kill them by the skin of his teeth. It's fun the first couple of times, and they're always in depth and well written, but at some point it starts to feel tedious.

Especially when there's a bunch of plot threads I'm just dying to see pushed forward instead of seemingly pointless combat. Not that we don't get some progress, but more would have been nice.

I'm so glad the series is continuing

Gabrial and his bonded are back! Reyna is still dead... sorta. But she's still got a lot to say, ha. The Swarm is getting a lot more pushy, but is trying a different tactic too convince the dungeon master to join forces. Political maneuvering in the city gets taken up a notch. Invaders from other realms. A mention of dungeon cores being able to form avatars at higher levels... I wonder how THAT is going to turn out with M, eh?

It's great that the story is continuing, looking forward to book 5 soon!

Epic Side Quests

In this edition we come to know our family better as they tackle the day to day with many more battles, slow expansions and insidious creeping horrors.. growing together against a few attacks from left field. It doesn’t touch on a few of the things we are longing to see play out but was still great being with the gang again. I look forwards to where the story takes us next.

Really fun read

Big fan of this series and these characters. The MC is a fun loving ruthless SOB when needed and boy is it needed in this book. But he somehow persevere despite the odds and despite the Swarm. Looking forward to book 5 nd hopefully more beyond.

really good

A really good continuation to the series. I was worried one of the main plots was dragging on but there was enough action and character development to make up for it. I’m certain the arc will complete next time.

Good continuation

This story was a good follow up to part three. The pacing was a little slow on the build up, but over all was pretty good.

Had laughs and tears the fact that you come to sympathies some and down right hate others makes for grate characters in books and stories

Another great installment

I love this series! It's a lot better than. What K expected going into it. Now that I'm heading into book 5, I can't wait to see how it plays out.
