Lyonsbridge #3

Maid of Midnight

Rate this book
Bridget had called St. Gabriel's monastery her home since her mysterious appearance years ago. Kept far from prying eyes amidst the gentle monks, the maiden was happy to care for her protectors. But after reading fanciful tales of Arthur and Guinevere, Bridget yearned for a handsome knight of her very own....

On a quest to find his missing brother, Sir Ranulf Brand scoured the Norman countryside. Attacked by brigands and left for dead, he awoke in St. Gabriel's to visions of a golden-haired angel tending his wounds by candlelight. But the monks assured him 'twas nothing more than a phantom brought on by his injuries. Yet the petal-soft touch of her lips lingered on his mouth still....

This was awesome. About a girl who lives in an Abby with a bunch of monks. They have kept her hidden for quite a while because of who she is.

Recomendo.

These three books, Lord of Lyonsbridge, Lady of Lyonsbridge and this book, have characters that are related but they don't really return much to the area or characters in the previous books. They are all good as stand alone books though.

In this book we see a secluded monastery where there are many secrets. No new monks have joined it within twenty-two years. Just 40 older monks.
Several like to make inventions, or as they say they tinker. They don't get visitors often and that is how they like it at St. Gabriel's.

Sir Randulf Brand has traveled from Lionsbridge to search for his youngest brother, Edmund. Three years ago after the crusades Edmund left and the last letter his fiance received mentioned St Gabriel's.

Randulf is attacked on his way. Left on the roadside to die. He wakes up looking at a golden angel.

Bridget has lived at St Gabriel's all her life. She reads the books in the library about some of the love stories and the stories of knights but that is all she knows of the outside world. When a man is brought in for injuries she needs to stay away as no one can ever know she lives here. The man needs some herbs packs for his head injury though and she decides to wash him up as well. At one point when he opens his blue eyes he calls her Angel.

As Randulf heals and looks for his midnight healer the monks tell him he was dreaming but he don't stop until he finds the woman in the flesh.

Through series of many things they find out that he may have been attacked because of St Gabriel's and one of its secrets.

You are kept guessing at what is going on and who is behind some of the secrets. There is also alot of humor with the monks.

Perfectly good for a romance. Just the right blend of elements. =)
