October 28, 2023Dnf. I wonder if the author would date a guy like their character Eric. No wonder he got dumped, who wouldn’t ditch such an unpleasant, ungrateful, ill-mannered and rude twat.

Voto: 3.5 stelline.
Premetto che non conosco quest’autrice ed è il suo primo libro che leggo, quindi non ho metri di paragone.
Il suo stile mi è piaciuto, anche se ci sono alcune sviste che un buon editing potrebbe sistemare, tipo le maiuscole (che non ci vanno) nei verbi reggenti dei dialoghi, qualche virgola fuori posto e qualche descrizione superflua nell’economia della storia.
Mi è piaciuta la dolcezza di questa novella di Natale.
Eric è il protagonista che all’inizio è a dir poco odioso, ma poi si ama; così come si apprezza il suo sforzo di raggiungere il suo sogno da solo, senza favoritismi con i soldi di famiglia.
Certo, in almeno un paio di punti l’avrei fatto rinsavire a suon di ceffoni, soprattutto verso il finale, dove ho trovato francamente sciocca la sua risposta.
Ci vuole un po’ di sospensione dell’incredulità su un paio di scelte, perché il primo chef di un rinomato ristorante non può certo assentarsi a random, né i ristoranti chiudono proprio sotto le festività (se non vogliono boicottarsi la clientela).
Ma detto questo… se cercate una storia leggera, dolce e non siete troppo pignoli, io ve la consiglio.
Sean è un adorabile personaggio che conquista e anche sua sorella e Jake arricchiscono la trama, come nonna Evelyn.

Tre stelle. Un po’ mi spiace… Amo tanto questi due…
Ho iniziato a leggere questo libro e mi sono subito entusiasmata. Scritto benissimo. Un ritmo fantastico. E due protagonisti interessanti. Tanto interessanti.
A un quarto della storia ero così contenta di aver trovato un nuovo autore e qualcosa che valesse cinque stelle…
Poi però è diventato tanto. Tanto inutile masochismo senza senso.
Due persone sempre più prese l’uno dall’altro che continuano ad allontanarsi (con sofferenza) in nome di non si sa bene quale paura.
“Non possiamo”
“È uno sbaglio”
E chi lo dice?
“Non spezzarmi il cuore”
“Non ti innamorare di me”
E perché mai?
“Sarà un disastro”
Ancora?
E le stelle diventano quattro.
E poi arriva il finale. Quando finalmente pensavo di aver scansato la confessione (o la scoperta) sulla finta relazione, bam. Eccola qua.
E tutto va (ovviamente e molto molto rapidamente) a rotoli. Appena prima della cena di Natale.
E poi?
Duecento pagine di sospiri (forzati) e poi la storia termina bruscamente, con poche parole e ancor meno azioni, senza che nessuno più si curi del Natale, della cena, delle rivelazioni in vista… nulla.
Senza che si dia a Eric la possibilità dell’agognata e più che meritata rivalsa verso una famiglia ostile e un ex fidanzato tossico.
Piantando in asso anche la nonna che ha invece sempre creduto in lui.
La povera nonna… come avrà reagito?
Non lo sappiamo. Non ce lo dice nessuno.
E io che ero lì a pregustarmi l’imbarazzo, o ancora meglio, lo sgomento di madre e padre alle prese con piatti da capogiro, un ex fidanzato messo all’angolo da un innamorato intelligente e arguto, e il maggiordomo seduto al tavolo d’onore mano nella mano della nonna…
Sarebbe stata una cena di Natale davvero molto interessante.
E un’ancor più interessante simmetria con il primo incontro. Proprio a una cena di gala. Proprio dove i nostri si “vedono” per la prima volta.
Balziamo avanti nel tempo (tre giorni) e scopriamo che Eric si è semplicemente lasciato andare nel suo dolore, finché il loro migliore amico non lo conduce sulla via della ragione. Finché non conduce entrambi sulla via della ragione, in verità.
Un gesto romantico, una dichiarazione, e tutto si aggiusta.
E lui cucina per la notte di capodanno.
E le stelle diventano tre.

❄️ 4 Estrellas ❄️
Este libro superó mis expectativas. Debo decirlo, la portada está súper fea, pero la historia es muy bonita. Claro, no voy a mentir diciendo que este es EL LIBRO. Es sólo una historia corta de romance entre dos chicos que tienen algunas experiencias no tan buenas en el amor y, por cosas de la vida, acaban fingiendo ser novios durante 21 dias, en los que suceden muchas cosas.
🥀 Puntos buenos: Los capítulos son cortos, fáciles de leer. La historia es muy adictiva. El romance entre Eric y Sean es demasiado tierno, hay mucha tensión entre ellos desde el minuto cero y no les puedo contar la satisfacción que sentí cuando al fin se rindieron ante el corazón. Los personajes no son muchos y, claro, no están desarrollados a la perfección, pero todos lograron ganarse un trocito de mi corazón. (Excepto Colm y Wash, a esos los odio). En fin, es un libro para leer un día tranquilo de invierno con un chocolate caliente. ☕ (Por cierto, giene spicy y... está bueno, gente 🤭🫦).
🥀 Puntos malos: La traducción. Es una basura, debo decirlo. Los que tradujeron este libro al español deberían estar despedidos. La maquetación, todo está horrible, incluyendo la portada. Necesito una edición nueva de este libro. 😭 También me hubiera gustado que se profundizara más en los miedos de los personajes, sus familias, etc. Siento que pudo haber dado más el libro, y el final fue un poco apresurado a decir verdad. De ahí que le de cuatro estrellas.
Así y todo, me alegra haberle dado la oportunidad a esta bonita historia que me hizo sentir de todo. Fue ligera, divertida y tierna. Justo lo que necesitaba. La historia pudo haber dado más, pero bueno. Sí lo recomiendo para alguien que quiera pasar el rato y ya. 🌷✨

Una historia bonita, muy cuqui 🥰 . De las que se cuecen a fuego lento, personajes entrañables y aunque sea una comedia romántica sin grandes sorpresas te tendrá enganchada desde el comienzo .
Con un pacto que a ambos personajes se les irá de las manos. Situaciones del día a día y que te envolverán en una atmósfera invernal.
Es la primera novela que traduce la autora y espero que no sea la única.

The 21-Day Boyfriend written by A.S. Kelly, is a funny MM romance. It's a dating-my-best-friend's-best-friend story. It's funny and sweet, with a great deal of denial on the side.
Eric O'Shea needs a date for a family event. Not only does he not fit into his parents' world, his ex and the man he left Eric for will be there as guests. His best friend, Jake, offers to set him up with his other best friend, Sean. There's always been some jealousy over their friendship so Eric is hesitant to even meet him at all. When Sean agrees to help, and even sticks up for him to his family, he knows he's In trouble. When he agrees to keep helping him through the holiday season, he knows things aren't as pretend as they once were.
Professor Sean Quinn has a terrible problem of never being able to say no to people. He agrees to dinner with Eric's family. He immediately sees why he wouldn't want to be there alone. He begins to see who Eric is underneath all the bitterness and sadness. When Sean needs him to help with his sister missing, Eric doesn't miss a beat. He's there within minutes, without question. And when Eric's grandmother insists on getting to know him better and invites him to Christmas, they'll have to find a way to either continue lying to themselves or admit that they stopped pretending some time ago.
This book had quite a few twists and turns but all lead up to a great ending. There are also jerk-faced exes and nosy family galore. I really enjoyed this trope. It gives enemies to lovers vibes which can be a treat to read. Watching these men navigate their feelings for each other felt real and was easy to kind of connect to. I enjoyed their banter best.
Overall, I think this was a great read. I think it's a fun holiday story with fantastic characters and a good plot. This is my first time reading anything by this author but it certainly won't be my last.

✔ Letto! Qui conosco Sean ed Eric. Due ragazzi con un migliore amico in comune, ma che per gelosia non si sono mai voluto conoscere. Poi Eric non volendo incontrare da solo i suoi genitori con cui ha svariati problemi e il suo ex, un grangratraculoarrivista e protteto da loro, propone un patto a Sean, grazie al loro amico Jack. Fingersi fidanzati per una serata e poi per altri 21 giorni fino a Natale e adio per sempre.
Solo che succede che nonostante Eric abbia il cuore spezzato e gli vada bene i suoi molti incontri casuali, e Sean ormai si sia arreso al suo destino di essere un maestro, noioso (non è vero) e topo da biblioteca (forse), che essere come al solito sfruttato e abbandonato da ragazzi cariniecrettrini. I due pieni di paure, paranoie proprio e detta, dubbi, dubbi e mille volte dubbi (Uffa😥)e continui ripensamenti cominciano a provare desiderio che sia vero, voglia di qualcosa di più.
Sinceramente ho tentennato un po' su questa recensione, di solito i libri che non mi piaciono, scrivo solo per me il perché ma non li rendo pubblico, ognuno che si faccia la propria opinione.
Ma nonostante i buchi, e ci sono tanti e la mia mente ne ha prodotti un sacco di domande a riguardo, il libro mi è piaciuto. L'ho anche comprato, anche se ho KU! Ho adorato Sean, troppo buono, ma proprio troppo buono per tutti quanto principalmente per Alex che booh, forse mi è piaciuto un po' meno, ma non è male, ha il suo perché e alla fine un gran cuore ereditato dalla nonna.
Secondo me questo libro poteva essere un capolavoro se ci fosse stata una revisione da un(a) betareader con le ⚽⚽
Mi piace la Kelly, ma in questo libro manca qualcosa....

“Andrà tutto bene,” lo rassicuro.
Lui annuisce contro la mia spalla.
“Mr. Quinn?”
“Mmm?”
“Non innamorarti di me, okay?”
Non credevo potesse fare tutto questo rumore e questi danni, forse perché non credevo di essere già così tanto avanti in questa assurda follia.
“Solo se tu mi prometti che non ti innamorerai di me.”
Per me è sempre un enorme piacere leggere le sue storie. I romanzi a tema MM sono tra quelli che preferisco in assoluto e che mi riempiono il cuore di forti emozioni.
Ciò che rende le storie di Kelly diverse dalle altre è poter vedere piangere i suoi personaggi senza che questi si vergognino della loro debolezza.
Credo che siano le persone più vere e reali, amano fino in fondo, si lasciano guidare dagli amici e trovano supporto nella famiglia, pur non sempre in toto.
Avevo da tempo questo titolo sul mio kindle, ma non ho trovato il tempo fino ad oggi per leggerlo, i due protagonisti sono anime che persone non buone hanno reso diffidenti e poco propensi a fidarsi di nuovo dell’altro, eppure dopo vari tentativi da parte di un amico comune a farli incontrare, ecco profilarsi all’orizzonte l’evento che dà il via a tutta una serie di per finta, solo per pochi giorni, fino ad un massimo di 21.
21 giorni in cui il cuore di entrambi viene scosso e scombussolato, 21 giorni in cui tutto ciò che è finzione diventa realtà e che solo il non arrendersi porterà la felicità desiderata.
Una storia che si legge speditamente e che, arricchita da dettagli e sapori, conquista il lettore che ringrazia l’autrice per questa sua nuova uscita e che spera di leggerne un’altra appena possibile.
Una storia che consiglio!!!

Per me è sempre un enorme piacere leggere le sue storie. I romanzi a tema MM sono tra quelli che preferisco in assoluto e che mi riempiono il cuore di forti emozioni.
Ciò che rende le storie di Kelly diverse dalle altre è poter vedere piangere i suoi personaggi senza che questi si vergognino della loro debolezza.
Credo che siano le persone più vere e reali, amano fino in fondo, si lasciano guidare dagli amici e trovano supporto nella famiglia, pur non sempre in toto.
Avevo da tempo questo titolo sul mio kindle, ma non ho trovato il tempo fino ad oggi per leggerlo, i due protagonisti sono anime che persone non buone hanno reso diffidenti e poco propensi a fidarsi di nuovo dell’altro, eppure dopo vari tentativi da parte di un amico comune a farli incontrare, ecco profilarsi all’orizzonte l’evento che dà il via a tutta una serie di per finta, solo per pochi giorni, fino ad un massimo di 21.
21 giorni in cui il cuore di entrambi viene scosso e scombussolato, 21 giorni in cui tutto ciò che è finzione diventa realtà e che solo il non arrendersi porterà la felicità desiderata.
Una storia che si legge speditamente e che, arricchita da dettagli e sapori, conquista il lettore che ringrazia l’autrice per questa sua nuova uscita e che spera di leggerne un’altra appena possibile.

“Non innamorarti di me, okay?”
Non credevo potesse fare tutto questo rumore e questi danni, forse perché non credevo di essere già così tanto avanti in questa assurda follia.
“Solo se tu mi prometti che non ti innamorerai di me.”
Per me è sempre un enorme piacere leggere le sue storie. I romanzi a tema MM sono tra quelli che preferisco in assoluto e che mi riempiono il cuore di forti emozioni.
Ciò che rende le storie di Kelly diverse dalle altre è poter vedere piangere i suoi personaggi senza che questi si vergognino della loro debolezza.
Credo che siano le persone più vere e reali, amano fino in fondo, si lasciano guidare dagli amici e trovano supporto nella famiglia, pur non sempre in toto.
Avevo da tempo questo titolo sul mio kindle, ma non ho trovato il tempo fino ad oggi per leggerlo, i due protagonisti sono anime che persone non buone hanno reso diffidenti e poco propensi a fidarsi di nuovo dell’altro, eppure dopo vari tentativi da parte di un amico comune a farli incontrare, ecco profilarsi all’orizzonte l’evento che dà il via a tutta una serie di per finta, solo per pochi giorni, fino ad un massimo di 21.
21 giorni in cui il cuore di entrambi viene scosso e scombussolato, 21 giorni in cui tutto ciò che è finzione diventa realtà e che solo il non arrendersi porterà la felicità desiderata.
Una storia che si legge speditamente e che, arricchita da dettagli e sapori, conquista il lettore che ringrazia l’autrice per questa sua nuova uscita e che spera di leggerne un’altra appena possibile.
Una storia che consiglio!!!

This was a lot of fun.
There were so many great characters and the secondary ones were just as impressive
Loved Grama! Loved Sis!
Loathed the ladder climbing ex
Felt that Mom and Dad needed to get their heads examined
Jake was the BFF everyone should have despite his own life choices (kind of a secondary storyline )
Sean and Eric started out pretty rough.
I admit there were a few times I would have given Eric a bit of a shove after I slowed to 40. It became apparent later it was his defense mechanism, just like Sean's inability to say no. These two danced around their own feelings under the guise it was all to sell the lie. It was a lot of fun to watch
This had laughs. Angst. Personal Growth. Smexy, lots of smexy. Friendship all wrapped in a solid storyline
I highly recommend it for as a winter fire night read - all the warm fuzzies

Fake boyfriend is one of my favorite tropes, so I was excited for this one. Eric comes from a wealthy family in which his parents treat him poorly, if at all. He didn’t follow in his father’s footsteps to be a surgeon, and they don’t respect the fact that he is a chef. His father treats Eric’s ex-boyfriend, Colm, very well; however, after being dumped by Colm, Eric does not want to face a family fundraiser alone. Enter Jake, Eric’s best friend, who arranges for his other best friend, Sean, to be Eric’s fake date for the party, which turns into another fake date, which turns into keeping up the pretense for 21 days, until Christmas.
I admit to being very confused by why Sean and Eric never wanted to meet. Jake has been Sean’s best friend since childhood and Eric’s best friend for years. When even Jake questions why they can’t meet, Sean’s response is, “Because things are fine as they are, and I don’t want to complicate anything.” Honestly, made no sense to me. Does Jake never have parties? Dinners? Get-togethers? How have Eric and Sean stayed isolated from each other all that time?
What Eric has is a Granny who loves him. I loved her, too. Part of the reason for the continued pretending was because Granny likes Sean, and Eric doesn’t want to disappoint her. So they begin to fake date and then get to know each other.
I have to be honest, I didn’t like Eric. At all. He begins the book and is such a jerk, to Jake and then to Sean, that I couldn’t figure out why Sean wouldn’t say forget it and move on. Eric is the one needing the favor, and he acts like such an ass. There is one point at their first meeting where Sean does say, “Could you please tell our mutual friend it wasn’t my fault and that you showed up already pissed off?” Eric repeats the jerk behavior often, and it’s maddening, more so when he acts decently, and you see he can be a good person.
Things get a little convoluted between Sean’s sister, Mila, Jake, the horrible ex-boyfriend, and so on. I liked Sean and his protectiveness towards Mila. Love Granny and Larry! There is a lot of repetitive inner dialogue from both Sean and Jake about their feelings and the pretense. There are some great food descriptions when Eric shows off his chef skills. As a fake date story, it’s not my favorite but had its moments.

Hi Y’all! Come in and grab a seat while I tell you about this book I just read.
The title is 21 Day Boyfriend by A.S. Kelly.
The cover is sexy and goes well with the title. Then I read the blurb and it really got my interest because Best friend of a best friend? That’s different.
The story is a romance with some humor .
Who’s my favorite main character ? I loved both Eric and Sean. It was impossible to pick between them. ( Was there another character I loved and why).Jake. Sneaky little toad lol!
There are significant plot twists and turns? If so, what were they? There are lots of twists. This started out to be a one off. Then turned into 2 dates then into 21 ending on Christmas or so that’s the deal. But with so many monkey wrenches what will happen. My only question was how did they go all these years and not meet.
I liked the ending. It was HEA or but a hard earned one!
If you like… opposites attract, fake date, best friends best friend, twists, slow burn and a really good romance this is for you!.

I liked Sean a lot, though he had serious problems saying no to people. Frankly, after his first encounter with Eric, I would've run away and not looked back. Eric had issues and I found it difficult to like him after the way he behaved with Sean at first. In fact, I nearly DNF'd the book because of him on several occasions, but I persevered and the book ended up getting better in the end, despite a couple of hiccups here and there.
I didn't care for Eric's family, or his ex (who was horrible). His granny, however, was awesome and I wish she would've been in every scene.
Overall, a fun and sweet Christmassy story. Recommendable!

Mi è piaciuta ogni cosa di questo libro.
La trama che ti tiene incollata alle pagine in attesa del prossimo passo.
L’ambientazione natalizia, una delle mie preferite, sembra di guardare tante cartoline.
Eric e Sean, il loro passato, la loro paura di ricominciare, di riprovare, di lasciarsi di nuovo andare all'amore.
Così diversi, tanto da non volersi nemmeno conoscere ma, come dice anche il loro migliore amico Jake, in realtà così simili.
Se avete voglia di sognare, non fatevelo scappare.
La trama che ti tiene incollata alle pagine in attesa del prossimo passo.

Bellissima commedia romantica … Sean e Eric due persone ferite che riscoprono l amore e la sincerità .. ho amato la storia d amore e ho sorriso per le battute simpatiche tra i personaggi.. amore 🧡 sofferenza amicizia e famiglia sono i sentimenti che escono fuori da ogni pagina.. ne ho adorato ogni pagina e ne consiglio la Lettura!!

Y la disfruten tanto como yo. Adore al profesor y el chef que hacen soltar algunas lágrimas , sonrisas , sonrojos y sobre todo nos enseña que no importa nuestras vivencias pasadas , aún se puede volver a empezar

Un fidanzato per 21 giorni A.S. Kelly
Volevo leggere questa autrice da molto tempo, sono molto affascinata da chi riesce a scrivere romanzi etero e M/M , sono molto rare e le apprezzo perché vuol dire che hanno davvero argomenti e non si fossilizzano su un genere soltanto.
La trama è piuttosto semplice alla fine; c’è Eric figlio di una famiglia molto facoltosa che ha bisogno di un finto partner per affrontare un evento di beneficenza e soprattutto l’ex fidanzato che l’ha mollato. Jake il suo migliore amico,ha un altro migliore amico Sean, anche lui gay che farebbe assolutamente al caso suo. questo libro è strutturato su uno slow burn, perché rispetta un po’ lo schema hate to friend- friend to lovers, prendendosi tutto il tempo necessario per far agognare al lettore anche un semplice sfioramento di mano. Egregiamente condotto direi, insomma sappiamo tutti come andrà finire ,però il bello non è la meta ma il viaggio.
Impeccabile la descrizione dei due personaggi principali . Frederick “ Eric” O’Shea doveva essere il rampollo di una famiglia lanciatissima nel campo medico solo che ha deciso di scegliere una strada completamente diversa quella dello chef, cosa che l’ha allontanato dalla famiglia e dal fidanzato stesso che platealmente stava con lui per interesse.
Sean Quinn è un professore universitario un carattere molto dolce,un “buono” come viene spesso detto nel libro. Molto intelligente compassato, un po’ nerd… insomma l’esatto opposto di Eric.
Davvero una coppia improbabile ma decidono di fingere per 21 giorni un legame serio davanti a tutta la famiglia O’Shea e soprattutto davanti all’ex di Eric… un vero bastardo.
Tutto il libro è filato via che è un piacere, con una stilistica molto semplice snella senza fronzoli, ma efficace. Un finale che ci si aspetta, ma dolcissimo.
Una nota a parte va fatta per tutti i personaggi secondari per primo Jake che come migliore amico di entrambi era addirittura irresistibile,tanto che spero che ci possa essere spazio per un libro a parte su di lui.

This book was wow!!! The love story of Eric and Sean was so nice to read and the comic part was well done.

Letto in 1 giorni, scelto perché aveva tutti i trope che amo ( fake dating, i due protagonisti non si sopportano). Devo dire che ero partita con basse aspettative invece la penna dell’autrice mi ha catturato subito sono riuscita a leggerlo in 1 solo giorno tutto di fila e mi ha preso così tanto da avere le farfalle nello stomaco ad ogni interazione tra i due personaggi. Seppur ci siano delle cose che mi hanno fatto storcere il naso devo dire che tutto sommato è una bella commedia romantica.
