Only part-way though this book and find myself dipping into reading it rather than starting at the beginning, for the time being, but I chose it because it looks easy to understand, straightforward, and not “religious”. Nicely written. I think I’ll want to work my way through it slowly as there’s a lot to consider in it. There are two sections I’m drawn to especially - one “getting rid of unhelpful habits and behaviour patterns”, and “becoming more mindful”. If these two sections work for me, then the book will have done its job. Someone once said “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there”, so I’m looking forward to finding out from this book where I should be going so I can get to where I want to be.
This short book packs in a lot of information regarding the Buddhist way. Fourteen chapters explaining Buddhist teachings including The four noble truths and the eightfold path. I think I would have enjoyed it more if there had been examples included more and also some illustrative content. Not really a negative, just my personal preference. I will be reading more about Buddhism.
This was an excellent plain language introduction to Buddhism. It contained actionable steps throughout on how to apply what was discussed in real life. I am feeling hopeful about this journey.
