Story Of The Dragon

Rate this book
The world is guarded by dragons. Lurking in the shadows and keeping out of sight, they keep evil at bay.

The Dragon Protectorate assigned Artemisia to protect Earth from the corruption, a hive-like race that infect every living being they touch. Hidden from Earth and the corruption, she stands guard over humanity.

Her magic and skills as a dragon are the only line of defense stopping the relentless horde from taking over the planet and wiping out every living creature. She’s done her duty faithfully, watching humanity grow and flourish with only the sphynx, Matraphiel, for company. All her life, she blended in, disguised as a human to fight the enemy.

Until the day everything changes.

The corruption steps up the attacks, putting Artemisia under immense pressure to fulfil her duty as protector.

Can she defend a whole planet alone? Or will she need help from someone who’s faced the corruption before?

Can the Dragon Protectorate triumph over evil? Or will humanity be culled?

Story of the Dragon

A very enjoyable read. Artemisa is the protector of earth that nobody knows about. Talk about a lonely life, except for the grocery store boyfriend who ends up having to back her up to save the planet. All in all it ended up being a good book, and I am looking forward to book 2.

(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)

I did not realise that this was a sequel to another series.

IMHO it's not a book that you can read and fully understand the world, without having read the previous books. Although that would be me guessing that the world-building was more thorough in the preceding series.

I've not got strong feelings of like or dislike for anything in the book, which is why it's a 2 star.

First time read the author's work?: Yes

Will you be reading more?: Possibly

Would you recommend?: Probably, if you have read the series this is a sequel to and enjoyed it!

------------
How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author)
4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author).
3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series)
or
3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)

All of the above scores means I would recommend them!
-
2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.)
1* = Disliked

Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)

I do a lot of reading, 334 books this last year. I found the book to be well written, entertaining and rich in story. What grabbed me was an 'original concept', a unique MC with a similar unique sidekick for a non intimate partner. I realize that may change, but book one for me was a 'macguffin', a slow reel you in and get your feet wet for what's to come, not the whole story in nutshell. The lack of mature theme(s), with only a hint of romance was refreshing I can't wait to see who her love interest will be. I'm a fan of steamy, but not 3 pages into a book, which added to my excitement and hope for chance at romance. The fact the MC has a male name and genders female in a human made for an interesting surprise in character dept. Maps and dictionary are forthcoming I hope, but if not it won't stop me from reading the rest of the set.

DNF - quit at 10%
This was so confusing to me. There’s not really a world building to help me figure out what’s what, it just jumps right in, leaving me disoriented of who, what, where, why - is going on. It makes me suspect that this was splintered off another series or there was a prequel I missed. I hate feeling lost so quickly in a story.

At my age (62), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

Great read!

I want to take the time to write a proper review. However, I must start book 2 in the Story of the Dragon series. This series picks up on Scarlet after the defeat of the demon on Earth. New dragons on and off Warth. Portals to other planets. I'll write more later. Get the books!

The dragons are here to protect you. You didn't know it, you didn't recognize them but that's who they are.

This story is the battle against corruption for planet earth. It is nonstop battle as portals are opened to let corruption through. If you enjoy the dragons disguised as human while they fight never ending stream of corruption, this is your book.

Dragons, Magic and War!

One lone dragon protecting earth from corruption. He has it under control until they start attacking every 3 hours. With more and more corrupted beings attacking the portal.

Great book

This book was different than what I thought it would be. It surprised me and sucked me in at the same time. I like this different twist to dragons and the danger they face in this book. I can't wait to continue to read and see what else happens.

Picked this book because I like the cover and dragons. I was glad I did and hope you hang in there because it starts a little slow but it is all action after that. I am on to book two.

Good story overall

I enjoyed the story for the majority, the return of alot of great characters a definite plus thought the beginning was a bit of a slow burn but still enjoyable.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the story included Scarlet the red dragon queen. I could hardly put it down. Just downloaded Part 2. Can't wait to see what happens next
