Superfood Superfoods with Smoothies for Weightloss
The Superfood Smoothies book features two sections covering two different Smoothie Diet recipe plans. Superfoods are foods that are packed with nutrition like anti oxidants. By consuming these foods we help to build stronger bodies, a strong immune system, a more alert brain, and stronger bones. Our diets can act as both treatments and as preventative for certain health conditions. It makes it easy to be healthy just by watching what we eat. Smoothie diets are helpful if you wish to jumpstart the process to a healthier lifestyle. Weight loss is also easier on a smoothie diet.
The first section of the Superfood Smoothies book covers the Smoothie Diet Cookbook with these The Benefits of a Smoothie Diet, Fruits in Particular, The Benefits of Drinking Green Smoothies, Lose Weight and Fat on the Smoothie Diet, Smoothie Creations - a Quick How to Guide, Tips for Making Good Smoothies, Fruit Smoothies, Vegetable Smoothies (Also Known as Green Smoothies), Tofu Smoothies, and a 5 Day Sample Menu. A sampling of the recipes Apple Peach Banana Smoothie, Banana Berry Tofu Smoothie, Banana Kale Orange Smoothie, Creamy Papaya Smoothie, Pomegranate Smoothie, and the Blackberry Banana Smoothie.
The second section of the Superfood Smoothies book covers the Smoothie Diet with these Common Smoothie Ingredients, Liver Detox and You, Smoothies and Weight Loss, Fruit Smoothies, Green Smoothies, Breakfast Smoothies, Energy Smoothies, and The Five Day Meal Plan. A sampling of the recipes Super Energy Smoothie, All Day Energy Smoothie, Pomegranate Smoothie, Banana Crunch Smoothie, Oatmeal Strawberry Smoothie, Celery Red Grape Smoothie, Dandelion Smoothie, Tangerine Pineapple Smoothie, Watermelon Banana Smoothie, Cantaloupe Apple Smoothie, The Frozen Banana Smoothie, The Basic Grape Smoothie, Kiwi Apple Smoothie, Pear Nut Smoothie, Apple Blueberry Smoothie, Cherry Apple Smoothie, and Plum Apple Lemon Smoothie.
To Start: I'm not sure if I had the whole book. It ended abruptly and around 100 pages before the Goodreads page count. Was the count wrong? Was the Hoopla version corrupted? I'm not sure.
That being said, this book is jam-packed with smoothie recipes. Over 100, at least. Are they all tasty? Who knows. That's up to the person drinking them. But I found quite a few that sounded delicious. I'll definitely give it a go.
We've been consciously trying to eat superfoods more often, and smoothies are a wonderfully refreshing way to get them when it's hot out like it is now. No oven needed - hooray!
Section 1 Smoothie Diet Cookbook discusses what a smoothie is as well as what a green smoothie is, what benefits these drinks can offer for your health and includes some info about which ingredients contain specific nutrients, like potassium or vitamin C. There's also some tips on how to modify the smoothies to suit your tastes, for example natural sweeteners, healthy fats, and spices can enhance flavor. Tips for fruits and veggies that aren't easily blended are also included.
Fruit Smoothies is the first recipe section. The Berry Smoothie recipe is different from the ones I usually find and it's delicious. Other standouts include the Spicy Banana Smoothie, the Apple Spice Smoothie, the Fig Smoothie and the Nothing But Fruit Smoothie, but they're all very good in this section.
Vegetable Smoothie recipes are next. The Zucchini Orange Smoothie, California Delight Smoothie, Melon Cucumber Broccoli Smoothie are all particularly good. The CocoCranNut Smoothie is a new favorite, but all the recipes in this section are worth trying as they're very well put together. Not all of these are green smoothies, some are fruit and protein based with no veggies, but these are still good. It wouldn't be hard to add some spinach, kale, parsley, etc to these. A five day sample meal plan is included to help you get started.
Smoothie Diet is the next section and starts by discussing the importance of liver health and the value of soy milk. Fruit Smoothie recipes is the first section. The Cherry Vanilla Smoothie, Pomegranate Smoothie and Coffee Banana Smoothie are favorites. Some of th recipes had sugar or sweeteners added which I didn't find necessary and noted on the recipes to not add it. There's not very many recipes in this section.
Energy Smoothie recipes is the following section. This is another small section that includes recipes I found did pack some healthy energy like Blueberry Soy Smoothie, Super Energy Smoothie and Cocoa Peanut Butter Smoothie. To end the book there's some meat based Solid Meal recipes. My SO really liked the five recipes given which included Pan Seared Beef and Pesto Sauce Chicken.
My SO prefers, and actually so do I, that the recipe steps are numbered and these aren't. Nevertheless, the recipes are still clear and easy to follow. There's a lot of great recipes in this book which are different from many other smoothie recipes floating around. These are well-constructed and not boring at all. This is much more of a fruit or fruit and protein based book than a green smoothie book, but none of the recipes I tried suffered from adding one to three green or veggie ingredients like spinach, chard, parsley, red leaf, butter leaf, zucchini, cucumber, mint, basil, etc to the mix. I highly recommend adding this book to your smoothie repertoire. I received this book at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review.
