I received an ARC copy in return for an honest review. Jamaican Me Crazy Mon tells the story of Keisha Harper, a journalist who is covering an uptick of arson cases in the Miami area. As she works alongside the firefighters and detectives solving the arson cases, Keisha discovers that she is incredibly burnt out after the emotional baggage that comes with witnessing such atrocities firsthand including the capture of the arsonist responsible for so much death. Under the suggestion of the fire chief, Keisha takes a sabbatical to Montego Bay, Jamaica, where she meets and falls in love with one of the locals, none other than Llanzo Wright. Llanzo owns an excursion company and is still learning how to continue living a happy existence two years after his wife died in a car accident.

I have to give this book ⭐⭐ for several reasons.
1. Several sentences are repeated in nearly identical wording multiple times throughout a paragraph. This happens not once, but several times throughout the book.


2. Llanzo and Keisha know each other barely a few days before they start confessing their love for one another and planning a future, despite Keisha's need to return to the US in less than two months' time. The whole "falling for you" plot happened way too quickly to be believable, in my opinion.

3. Llanzo originally is the one who doesn't want to pursue a romantic relationship. He simply wanted to get to know Keisha and see how everything went during the rest of her trip, but, suddenly, he's the one moving in for the first kiss and basically inviting himself to spend the night with her. That was a complete 360 turn around in not even the span of 100 pages...

4. I really did enjoy the concept of this book in that I appreciated all the mentions to emotional burnout/compassion fatigue which hit closer to home for me in the recent months until I started my new job. I also really wanted to enjoy the second chance romance and I do feel like the characters were good for each other, but the plot needed longer time.

Beautiful island love

Keisha is a journalist in Miami who has been working non-stop to bring the latest news to her readers. Currently, she is working on an arson story that has taken from her mentally and physically. Now that she has reached her end, she takes a much-needed break and regroup. Keisha takes a two-month vacation to Jamaica.

Llanzo operates a tour business in Jamaica that is successful. He puts his all into the business as his way of grieving the loss of his wife two years.

Llanzo and Keisha never expected to find love at the time they did and not with each other. But love knows no bounds and their love story is lead out for us to read and enjoy.

This is a quick read! It reads beautifully and poetic. The author has a beautiful way of expressing her words. She takes you away as you read and imagine what she has written. Keisha and Llanzo have a fantastic love story! I did not rate it higher because it felt a bit repetitive at some points, especially when describing the landscapes. Ireland Lorelei is a new author to me, and I look forward to reading another book by her.

This was a brand new author to me but I’ve been excited to go to these different places with each author of this series. Unfortunately, this story wasn’t for me at all.

I think the thought behind this story was great and the first couple of chapters were amazing but then Keisha goes to Jamaica and it turns into a completely different style of writing. I couldn’t tell if we were reading from the authors point of view or if we were reading the characters. The story is heartbreaking at times and I could feel it but then other things got in the way.

I didn’t really get attached to either and I feel bad about that because the beginning was so great! The use of their names was too much as well, I don’t say the name of the person I’m talking to each time we have a conversation. It was overused and their love and connection just became the entire story instead of actually telling of the story. Explaining each moment in detail instead of constantly saying how in love they are or how they will overcome their distance. Towards the end where things were actually happening was rushed to the finish because too many descriptive words in the middle about nothing. I am so sorry that I can not give this book a great rating and I wish this author so much luck in the future.

Jamaican Me Crazy Mon is a quick, entertaining read. Keisha and Llanzo are likable, and they're easy to root for as a couple. I'm really liking this series so far, and it's giving me a taste of some new to me authors. Ireland Lorelei does really well with giving the reader a solid romance in a book that can be read in about an hour. This one made for a nice midday break on the porch, coffee in hand. Since it is a very quick read, I'll wind it up rather than risk spoilers. All in all, this one is engaging and fun, and I will read this author's work again.

I can relate to Keisha's burnout, but everything else was way too much, too fast.

Maybe because I'm a dark romance reader or just skeptical by nature, but this man lamenting about his deceased wife and then professing his love for a veritable stranger within days of meeting is super suspicious. And if it had gone a little darker, I probably would have enjoyed it more. *shrugs*

For the most part, I liked this romance. I could sympathize with Keisha and her feeling burnt out. Sometimes a vacation is just the trick. The romance was sweet, however it was a little fast for me. Still, the setting alone will make you want to give this a try.
