I learned what they were going to do to us. I saw what they planned on doing to my brother. So, we ran. Until someone called Devil was hired to get rid of us. Only he practiced torture techniques on me. He needed to make sure they hurt. It did. Now he’s dead and I’m trapped inside a cage in the basement, trying to figure a way out. Until some masked man showed up, and I was not prepared for him. Or what I was going to have to do.
Zion
I’m a monster. I’m what they call The Butcher. A hired hitman. No remorse, no feelings, I don’t care. Until I find her in a cage with a collar wrapped around her neck. She’s feisty and doesn’t listen when I tell her no. More importantly, she’s not scared of me. She looks me in the eye, she laughs at me, and she says whatever is on her mind. She enrages me—someone I shouldn’t want, but someone I need. She sees me for who I am; she sees me as more than a monster in a mask.
I made it to book 3, and Im sorry, but I have to stop here! I gave this series the best chance possible, the storyline was there and I loved the characters but I can not get past the errors in the timeline or the spelling issues but overall the constent inconsistencies this author has in her own books. At first I thought ok a few errors thats fine but when you start saying someone is a certain age and change your mind 3 times throughout before settling or saying someone was missing for 14 hours that then all of a sudden becomes days a few chapters later! Im sorry, but it was hard to keep up most of the time and felt like it was roughly written without editing.
☆ Masked man ☆ Touch her you 💀 ☆ Possessive MMC ☆ Trauma healing FMC ☆ High spice ☆ Height Difference (he’s 6’7, she’s 5’3) ☆ Age gap (he’s 33, she’s 21)
‼️Graphic depictions of rape, sexual assault, and violence on adults and children‼️ ~~~~~~~ I was so disappointed with this one 😭 I did enjoy some aspects of it, and I like how it covered new characters and had a different plot. But I felt like there were too many inconsistencies and plot holes to have this book make sense and enjoyable.
The story: As stated above, I did like some aspects of it. Where in the first one, it had a really great plot and was easy to follow. It was about a clear character, and had lore and a depth to the characters that this book kind of lacked. Zion was in the first two books, and I did want to see if he got a story and was happy he did! With the inconsistencies, Gabriel was either 12 years old or 15 years old. It switched throughout the book, and I had no idea how old he actually was. In some scenes Izel and Zion would be kissing in the front seat and then all of a sudden they’re outside the truck. It was just confusing and I think could have used a much more thorough proofread and editing process. (Again, I don’t dock for grammar and spelling, but inconsistent plot and characters I do:/ )
The characters: I loved Zion! He was just a lil guy with a mask and some anger issues. He was a mysterious, tall, big brute who was grumpy and I love that. Izel… she was a quirky character, and gave “I’m not like other girls” vibes, but I did love the disability rep with her eyes. I think that was a really great touch! Ive never even heard of the condition she has, and it was really refreshing to read about something you’re not familiar with. I did have a hard time with Izel only because she was a little bit annoying. I don’t really know how to explain it. Just the way she spoke and the things she said were really just- yeah idk. BUT! I did love how Zion was just an absolute mess around her, and was so in love with her the whole time 😍 I also loved the little cameos from past characters like Killian and Aziza!
The spice: This was a 4/5 on the 🌶️ scale. There were about 6.5 open door scenes with one being just masturbation. I was also super disappointed about the spice because he kept saying “I’m gonna tie you to my bed.” And he never did ☹️ LIKE BOY, DONT SAY SOMETHING HOT AND NOT DO IT WTF?? That was a little disappointing, but anyway! The rest of the scenes were really great!
‼️Trigger warnings include:‼️ Child sex abuse Graphic depictions of the rape of a child Mentions of child trafficking Graphic depictions of violence Graphic depictions of harsh rape
Please heed the warnings and do not read if you do not feel comfortable with ANY of this.
The book starts off with Zion rescuing Izel right off the bat, breaking her out of the cage. From there his obsession starts, and he just can’t let her go.
Izel, being freed is trying to run away with her brother since dangerous people from her past are out to recapture her.
I thought this book was well done for the short length it was. I definitely read in one sitting and I enjoyed it was from mostly Zion’s perspective because it showed his level of obsession.
The plot wasn’t anything crazy, you kinda know what to expect, but both the characters were well thought out, had depth, and enjoyable to read.
Some minor grammatical mistakes, but nothing that took away from the story.
This is a good short dark romance read if you’re in the mood for something a little darker but not quite morally black.
Tropes: 🖤 Toucher and 💀 🖤 JP MMC & FMC 🖤 Age Gap 🖤 Banter/Witty FMC 🖤 Masked MMC
Not sure how I found this, but so glad I did. It was wonderful.
The self doubt, the trauma, the PTSD, the self worth issues; the love, the obsession, the spice, the devotion…
Between the FMC and the MMC but also between them and other characters.
The storyline was good. There was plot and meaning. But also lots of heat.
There was humor and snark. Izel was so sassy and strong, despite her fragility and what she’d been though. Zion was so soft and caring despite his strength and hardened emotional state.
I know some people will complain about spelling/grammatical error. But shut up and get over it. Lol. Get passed it and enjoy the book. It was worth it.
This is one of the best books I've read so far. Check TW please. I don't have a lot of trigger but books with depicted SA sometimes I have to stop and regain myself, this book had it so detailed i am so enraged that i don't think Reaper Dan and the other guy got what they deserve, i think i would have wanted them to suffer more. Gosh. The way she suffered omfg.
But the way he loved her. The way he told Gabriel to shoot him if she was not alive. The way he blushes just for her blowing her a kiss while torturing her r@pist. Their love was so wholesome. Got this on stuffyourkindle day and it js one of the best books i got, thankful i got introduced to these characters. Can't believe it is a third book already. I might pickup the others as well.

I loved this storyline, it was gripping right to the end. Unfortunately the writing itself was not the best. There were several inconsistencies in this book with respect to characters ages and timeline. There were also a few times that he left her at home and she just shows up wherever he is. She doesn’t have a vehicle and I doubt she knows how to drive given her backstory, so how is she randomly getting to these places?? This book definitely had potential for 4 stars but needs some major editing!
I really loved this book from the start to the very end. Although I would’ve loved to hear how they were in the future.
But overall I loved the relationship between the main characters. Although reading parts of it, it was soo sad to hear the FMC -Izel had endured but having someone like Zion on her side was amazing.
This book made cry, laugh, I was envious of certain situations 😉 and overall just can’t express how much I really enjoyed it
I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I also enjoyed the tie in to the previous books without it being the same story repeated. Unfortunately there are a lot of continuity errors, including the ages of character, and where they are in one part of a scene to the next. Although I found it didn’t bother me enough to take away from the overall story. I definitely enjoyed reading this book.
I never knew that I had a thing for guys in masks like in call of duty. But now I do. This is a sassy red head FMC meets broody hitman. This is dark and yummy, but also found myself laughing from the FMC! Such a great read!
I absolutely loved this book!! A hot masked man and a woman that is strong and saucy! Zion and Izel together is a trip! Loved their interactions! If you want a spicy book with a great story like this is it!!
Oh this book is EVERYTHING!!!! Intense, dark, and hot like you couldn’t believe. The intensity of Zion and Izel relationship is off the charts. I absolutely loved this book and read it in one day. This is yet my all time favorite now.
This author needs an editor, badly. The premise on this book is good but the continuity was terrible, the sentences were choppy, and we couldn't seem to decide if Gabriel was 12 or 15. I don't think I'll read any more by this author, the grammatical errors were just too much to get past.
🌟🌟 nothing too special about this book for me. there was definitely chemistry between the two characters which you don’t normally get in a book that is this short. the murder/gore parts really grossed me out and i’m pretty good with gore, so this is a good story for anyone who loves that stuff.
It would have received a better rating if it weren’t for all the typos and giving the wrong information about the characters. Was Gabriel now 12 or 15? 🤷🏼♀️ Zion his chapter 28, was mentioned as Izel’s her chapter.
Very dark but a good read. Lots of potential triggers but the story line is good. Characters are sweet even if they think they are monsters. Would definitely recommend.
If it wasn't for the typo's and timeline errors, I would have given this book 4 stars. I truly did enjoy the story, the chemistry and the danger. I finished this book in no time.
Ever fallen in love with your grumpy kidnapper who actually rescued you, but won’t let you leave his side? Well meet Zion and Izel and fall in love. This book is dark and twisted both characters are damaged but are amazing together and have hot hot chemistry. This book had me captured and finished in one sitting, i definitely could not put it down until the end.
