Enjoyed this fourth in the series with the Cartel dealt with, the community expanding and an HEA for Kali and her mates. A couple bizarre twists and situations that come from left field. Overall a great finish. 4 stars. Highly recommend.
So boring. Multiple chapters about nothing but politics and construction (of homes, parties, landscaping, whatever). The entire plot of the story began at the end and was over without climax.
But I’m just not as enamored of the finale as others seem to be. One problem was the typos, wrong verb tenses used, missing words, and pages of inner monologue, which is a pet peeve of mine. I loved the series up until about the last third of the book. I understand the decision she made but after her telling her mates that she wanted to be included in all decisions and then to make one so permanent without talking to her mates I was just flabbergasted… and then the “well it’s her body so it’s her choice” decision from the males that had no idea what was going on, weren’t asked for input, opinions or anything else is just lazy. Then to have her depressed because of her own decision had me wanting to beat my head against a wall. I realize the author was making a point about body autonomy but c’mon. You had 1 person make a decision for 5 with no arguing, being depressed about what they may have envisioned for the future? Just made me want to quit reading altogether. Epilogue was decent but still made me want to roll my eyes.
I enjoyed the previous series and gave this one a try. Several characters from the prior books continue in their new life in Alaska. The series has a different take from other fated mate stories in that the men are older with established lives and responsibilities. They accept but, pretty much forget their new mate and basically screw up the relationship. Drama ensues due to the fmc's history and unknown heritage. Much of the story involves the problems in growing a diverse community. Book 4 ends with her making a horrifying personal decision, but epilogues reveal the happy endings. One star lost due to poor editing resulting in spelling errors and confusing tense changes. These become worse as the series goes on.
Not every story needs a happily ever after but seldom have I thrown a book across a room before ( in this case my phone). After everything the FMC had gone through & this is book 4 of 4 - I guess I expected something more here. A better plan. They had magic & some time to prepare but seemed to waste their opportunities over & over again when facing her dark past.
*Spoiler from series*
And I’ve never seen mates (especially new mates) ignore/neglect the bond until their female almost dies. The FMC’s “choice” didn’t seem like a choice at all to save herself & her mates. I like Lexie’s books usually but this was a hard one.
This book didn’t appeal as the first 3 did. I found that the reason her biological father appeared would have been something different than what happened. It was awful yes but the lead up for something so easily solved (in the female lead characters point of view), was to much. This climax was more about self sacrifice than anything. Don’t get me wrong it was noble, but I think it fell flat with that choice. I enjoyed reading each of the main characters points of view. Normally, I Love Lexie’s stories which is why I’m rating it 4stars.
Absolutely loved this series!! It even made me cry and that never happens!!
This was a great series, I fell in love with all the characters, and got super attached! Loved the story line and bringing all the supes together was great! I hated it ending and wish there was more..
