The sixth mountain man adventure in a spellbinding new Western series from Chris Smith!
A long-lost army payroll. A gang of outlaws. A Ute war chief with plans for bloody revenge.
Jim Taylor finds himself neck deep in trouble when his wife and son are kidnapped. Forced to find a missing payroll, Jim has to contend with the kidnappers and a party of Utes who are after his scalp, as well as the normal dangers of the mountains. The only lead to the missing money is a series of cryptic clues left by one of the original bandits, and Jim's running out of time if he's to save Winter Blossom and Buck. Jim's not a man to be crossed and you know that when he is, there'll be hell to pay!
This was an outstanding mountain man/western novel! It was full of action, gun fights, Indian abductions and intrigue. I found it very hard to put down. If you enjoy a well written, action packed tale of the old West, I would highly recommend this one!
The minute I started reading, I knew I had found a wonderful and fast-paced story to read. Totally into all of the things Jim had to go through to get Winter Blossom and Buck back safe. Great reading and I'm looking forward to another Chris Smith book to read.
Finally here, the latest western adventure from Chris Smith. He seems to have taken a hiatus this year, but he's back with a bang!
This story was a fresh new tale in the series and I enjoyed the twists and turns, as well as the opportunity to see a different side of Jim Taylor. The author did a great job of humanizing the bad guys and I actually found myself liking them from time to time, which doesn't usually happen. It was quite refreshing.
As usual, there was plenty of action and I thought that the ending pulled everything together nicely.
This was an exciting addition to the series! I loved the action, as usual, and it was full of intrigue. Smith brings the characters to life and the dialogue between Jim and the outlaws was really well written.
