Isto é tudo o que eu quero num livro! Tem diversão, romance, humor, leveza, tristeza, desenvolvimento pessoal etc … este livro foi perfeito !! 🥹 Adorei as personagens! Adorei a história e achei super original!!! Adorei o final, acho que foi demasiado perfeito! Adorei os plot twists (e foram muitos) e não previ nenhum! Adorei este livro e foi uma boa experiência 🪄🔮🤌🏼
Review: I love Lucy Vine books so much, she just seems to write to appeal to my lifestyle and my sense of humour and so how could I complain? The speed with which I tore through this book once I picked it up was intense, I just couldn’t put it down, I wanted to read on and find out what would become of Ginny, her friends, her family and, most importantly, her psychic predictions! Ginny is great because she is so easy to relate to. She works in her family’s jewellery business (which definitely gave me Bridesmaids vibes) and she has a pretty settled life at the start of the novel. Then something shakes everything up like a snowglobe and we get to be with her as she tries to piece her life back together and move on with this set of psychic predictions hanging over her. I think my favourite of the predictions was definitely her life-changing trip, it was clear what it was going to be and it made me laugh out loud whilst reading a LOT! Ginny’s team behind her are a varied bunch and I always love that shout Lucy Vine books, she really does make her characters like the kind of people you have as friends in real life. People aren’t all the same age in a friendship group, people come and go and people have very different lifestyles and are still able to be friends. I always feel like I am seen and I am represented in one of her books and I loved Ginny’s friends and family in Date With Destiny! I thought it made a real change that Ginny’s sister was part of the group and was just accepted even though she was younger and I like that the friends didn’t always go down the cliche route when it came to major life events! This book was just a really good time! I was invested in the story straight away, behind Gunny every step of the road. Lucy Vine made me laugh, she made me think and she entertained me from start to finish. I highly recommend Date with Destiny, I think it’s got something for everyone and definitely one that should be in your bag this summer!
Brilliantly funny. This is a refreshing, full of humour story. The story zips along at a great pace and I really enjoyed seeing Ginny ( and some others ) find their peace with life. I loved the relationships between Ginny, her friends and her sister. The support and unconditional love they gave to her was wonderful. Ginny’s mum was a character you love to hate - over the top, narcissistic and selfish she needed to have that severe talking to - but still had that family at heart attitude that the whole book is based on. The family jewellery business sounded a fun place to be and in adding Ginny’s flair for the extra customer service pieces you could see why it was a hit.
Very funny, I laughed out loud a lot (especially at the acknowledgements, but I digress).
It's strong on the com, less so the rom. I actually think I would have preferred it as a friendship book, because the best friends and sister make this book. Loved them all together! The men...not so much.
The character motivations just confused me, and I felt the plot was just OK. I really liked the characters though, and the professions of the characters too - don't often see them in books, so it was a nice change.
I had fun reading this, even though some bits had me rolling my eyes a bit. A mixed bag, but overall a laugh, and I would definitely read more by the fabulous Lucy Vine because she is a delight (introverts unite).
I wanted to read this book because I enjoyed Seven Exes and when I met Lucy in February, she was promoting this book and it sounded like an interested read. However, I personally struggled to get into this book.
This book is based on Ginny, and she is about to turn 32. It's a year she’s been thinking about for a long time. Sixteen years ago, she crossed paths with a psychic who made some key predictions about her thirty-second year – Three bad: A heartbreak, a loss of independence, and a death and three good: A life-changing trip, reconnecting with someone, and meeting her soulmate. The issue is that Ginny is due to get married in a month, but it’s all nonsense, obviously. But when some of those predictions start coming true, she starts to wonder what might happen next.
This storyline was funny and adorable, and I was rooting for it. I ended up liking the side characters more than the main character. I didn’t like Ginny; she was acting like she was 16-year-old rather than 32-year-old. I understand being a people pleaser, but she was just over the top. I loved Toni and Myfe, they were ones who i would have loved to have the main storyline. We knew the predictions were coming and that they were going to happen, but I would have liked to be surprised at who was the heartbreak and the death.
I didn’t like the love triangle/square that was going on and the miscommunication aspect of it, I would have loved for her not to find her soulmate and like they said to leave it to her and her best friends. Celeste gave me a headache and I found myself skimming her monologue and rants because it was all the same.
I enjoyed Lucy’s writing and her storyline and cannot wait to see what she’s writing next.
Whether you believe in fortune tellers or not, you are sure to enjoy this book in which Ginny was given six predictions, when she was only 16, for her 32nd birthday year. Three negative which thankfully happen first, then we move on to the three positive. Ginny is not sure she believes, but her friend Myfanwy is very into fortune tellers, crystals etc and excitedly tries to persuade her the events happening in her life are from the list.
The author covers so many issues in an important but not at all depressing way. Family dynamics. Friendship. Romances and the heartbreak which goes with them ending. Death of a loved one. School bullying. And very importantly, the signs women should be aware of which may lead to a heart attack.
Although Ginny does have her life problems, it is written in a light hearted way and Ginny keeps her sense of humour throughout with plenty of laugh out loud comments. She’s a strong woman but slightly under the thumb of her celebrity mother, and just trying to escape and make her own way in life.
I loved the close friendships between Ginny and her pals and I loved the support they gave each other. Well written full of life characters I could really relate to.
I was so hoping for a happy ending for Ginny after the year she had. I’ll not give any spoilers away.
A wonderful heartfelt, entertaining and laugh out loud funny book I would recommend as a great holiday - or any other time of year - read.
What a lovely, georgus, heart - warming book from Lucy Vine - it felt like reading her first novels. Actually, I had a feeling that I'm reading Lindsay Kelk, this book was such light - hearted and filled with genuine humour. Sure, there were moments that I didn't love so much, that felt, let's say, over - the - top and oh - so - convenient, and also after ditching the destiny curve the book started to feel a bit too forced, bot overall it was really a great book. The characters were really well written, they were sometimes truly annoying and their actions made me want to bang my head on the wall, however I like the way Ginny and her mother and sister were forced to take to find themselves and discover what it is that makes them happy in life. I especially liked the angle with the girls power, the women surrounding Ginny and how much they supported each other.
Under all the lightheartedness there are some issues hidden and some lessons to be learnt and the author has written them very skilfully, not overwhelming the readers. There is much more than just a rom - com to it and I liked it.
I adore Lucy’s books and this latest one is no exception - obviously it’s hilarious as always and the romance is on point, but what I love most about Lucy’s books is a) how likeable the female characters are, like you just want to be in their gang, and b) the epic female friendships that feel just as important as the love story. I absolutely loved Ginny and all of her family and friends, although her mum could do with the occasional kick up the bum (can’t all mums?!). And there was even a career arc for Ginny - what more do you need?!
If you have yet to discover Lucy’s books, pick one up asap - they’re guaranteed joy 👏
I LOVED this. I did not expect to love it but I did.
This was a well written story of a modern woman who is so easy to relate to. I loved watching Ginny change as a person and go through everything she did. I thought the whole destiny concept was really well thought out.
As with all Lucy Vine’s book, this was so funny. I loved the humour and I love how the author can go from writing funny scenes to writing about serious and delicate matters.
I was so happy that Ginny chose herself and found her soulmate within her.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m obsessed with her writing!! She really knows how to keep a reader hooked, making it so easy to read yet sooo entertaining. Lowkey had me giggling the whole time 🤌🏻
I loved this, the whole premise had me from the start! I flew through this in a couple of days and just needed this lighthearted fluffy romance. I loved Ginny’s character and she had me laughing out loud sometimes but also clutching my chest feeling so sorry for her with how little confidence she had, sometimes like Myfe I really wanted to shout ‘Stand up for yourself Ginny!!!!’. I am so glad we got to follow her on that journey of self discovery and see what whirlwind her life was taking her on! Throughout the book you watch as the three losses pass by Ginny but also her three gains, the three gains were just amazingly thought out and done I loved every part of it. Lucy, you had me at one point thinking the ending was not what we was going to get, but that little twist surely made up for things. Cannot wait for the next book of Lucy’s to come!😊
finally finished 😭🤚🏼// I almost DNF this book ... 🤦🏽♀️
Do you believe in fortune tellers, predictions, or any sign from the universe? Well, Ginny did not fall for it at first, not until she got her first break up with his fiancee. Six predictions of her life and one of them is going through a heartbreak. So yeah that happened, so she wondered what other pesky foretellings start coming true.
Three bad things — heartbreak, Loss of Independence, Death. Three good things — Life-changing trip, Reconnect, Soulmate.
If you desire to see lots of drama then go with this. I would say that Ginny is someone that always looming with self-hatred. She hates herself for being a people-pleaser, for letting her mum bend her will. You know when damn same self-loathing spirals through your head? I relate with Ginny so badly when it comes to her situation with her mother. If she could bottle up everything then she would. Seeing Ginny weeping about her breakup, then came another guy and ex-bf from high school, then her sister's toxic relationship, oh my. I could really need a Panadol Active Fast...
Luckily Ginny came to her senses. Thanks to her best friend! Took me two hundred and seventy-nine pages (yes exactly) to see Ginny not being foolish. I underestimated myself. I didn’t know where that patience came from :,)
Overall, this book is about discovering who you are and being your own person. You're the one in charge and don't let anyone decide for you. It was an okay read and I had fun torturing myself with those whole Ginny and her side characters’ situationship. courtesy @definitelybooks #pansing
I didn't feel any connection with the characters as I was reading this book. If I'm being completely honest all the characters kind of annoyed me with their different quirks and flaws. I felt like I was reading a book about teenagers and not full blown adults. I understand not all adults have their lives together and figured out, but I just felt like the characters were written in a way that made them so much younger than they were.
This was a really fun and light-hearted romcom, perfect to snuggle down with.
The plot follows Ginny as she navigates life in the wake of her fiancé suddenly breaking up with her. Meanwhile, her best friend insists that the six predictions from when she was sixteen, are starting to come true.
This was such a fun and refreshing read, one that I was certainly craving after reading a few heavy books. I read this book in an afternoon; it was so light and easy-going that you can pick this book up and completely get swept away from the fun story and hijinks.
While the plot is great, the characters really make this book for me. It has such a fantastic cast of brilliant and different characters. I really gelled and resonated with Ginny right from the start. She's such a sweet and caring character and like me, is a complete people pleaser. While some right read this book and scream at the pages for Ginny to disagree with people and tell them how she's really feeling, I'm sitting there agreeing with her not wanting to upset anyone or the status quo! I also really connected with Toni; I'm the youngest sibling in my family, and I know how it feels to be desperate to be taken seriously and be seen as an adult, when you really have no idea what you're doing! As Toni is so much younger than the rest of that characters, I was slightly worried that I would find her a little annoying and out of place, but I was so wrong. She's such a lovely character!
Zach is everything; I love him so much. He was absolute perfection; he's sweet, caring, funny, awkward and talented. What more could you ask for in a love interest? I will say, however, that I think his reasoning for avoiding Ginny at the beginning was a bit stupid - I mean, she was a child for crying out loud!! That aside, he's fantastic and has such amazing chemistry with Ginny.
It was just shy of five stars for me, just because I took me a couple of chapters to properly get into the story. However, I really recommend this book!!
Ginny is about to turn 32 and is about to embark on a year that she’s been thinking about for a long time. Sixteen years ago she crossed paths with a psychic who made some key predictions about what would happen to her in sixteen years time, and that time is now…
Three bad things: A heartbreak, a loss of independence & a death.
Three good things: A life-changing trip, reconnecting with someone & meeting her soulmate.
With Ginny a month away from being married she truly believes that it’s all nonsense but when the predictions start to come true it’s only natural to wonder what will happen next…
I devoured this book, Lucy Vine is a fantastic writer with the ability to put a smile on your face and, having seen her at a few book events, her personality shines through in her writing style. Ginny is a likeable character, along with her best friend and her sister, the relationships and self-discovery a massive part of the story. The sharp wit and the comic one-liners keep the pages turning and I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the plot, the ‘what-if’ of the predictions and the impact of just how quickly life can change.
Yes its light-hearted but there are some serious issues discussed with family relationships, friendships, relationships and health issues, all seamlessly intertwined to have the impact required, all keeping that classic style we know and love from this author. It’s more than just a rom-com (with a wonderful last minute twist at the end!), it’s a kick-ass girl power read that you won’t regret picking up!
(Lucy, always nice to see a passing mention of my name in a character, would like to say I’m not like this one!😛)
“Sometimes my brain feels like it’s a washing machine. One of those fancy washing machines with like, fifteen settings that no one really understands or uses…”
This was my First Lucy Vine Book and I picked this one up as a little bit of a cover buy as the Cover looked really intriguing and the premiss sound right up my street and I was transported off to this world and fell in love with the setting and world created and I will defiantly be looking to pick up more of Lucy’s books in the future and I can highly recommend the AudioBook version of this book the narrator did an amazing job of bringing the characters to life.

I devoured this book, Lucy Vine did an amazing job at putting a smile on my face and making me laugh out loud with some of the twists and turns in the book that I could never have predicted. It’s safe to say that Ginny was such a likeable character along with all the characters in the book. I loved the journey that Ginny goes on throughout the book and the sense of growth at the end felt rather realistic. I really enjoyed the uniqueness of the plot, the ‘what-if’ of the predictions and the impact of just how quickly life can change.
This Book is light-hearted but also contains some serious issues that are discussed with Family relationships, relationships and health issues, these are all seamlessly intertwined. I loved the spirit of Woman Power.
Lucy Vine is fast becoming one of my go-to authors, when I want a modern romcom. She always brings what I need - a brilliant heroine, some kickass best friends, a will they/ wont they romantic interest, and a plot that will grip you from page one.
In 'Date with Destiny', Ginny is happily engaged to Daniel, working in her celebrity mother Celeste's jewellery shop, and is generally pretty happy with life. She sometimes thinks back to when she was 16 and a fairground fortune teller made 6 predictions that would happen in 16 years time - 3 depressingly awful (heartbreak, loss of independence and a death) and 3 utterly wonderful (a lifechanging trip, reconnecting with someone, meeting your soulmate) - but she tries not to give them too much attention, surely its all made up - and besides, she has her soulmate, Daniel.
Their wedding preparations are fully in swing; Celeste is taking over all of the arrangements but Ginny tries to make peace with the fact that her planned quiet intimate wedding is now spiralling out of control. But then the predictions start creeping into real-life and Ginny has to face the future that she never wanted to happen. Her wonderful best friends Myfanwy and Solani help her navigate what's happening to her, offering her a shoulder to cry on or to be a sounding board as she tries to work out where her well-planned life is going.
There are some brilliant laugh out loud moments as well as times when I gasped in shock at what had just happened. 'Date with Destiny' is a perfectly paced, highly entertaining read, ideal for a bit of escapism.
Thanks to Netgalley and the tagged publisher for my copy of Date with Destiny by Lucy Vine.
In this captivating book, we accompany Ginny, who has been receiving predictions from a fortune teller since the age of 16 for when she turns 32. Finally, that fateful year has arrived. Will all the predictions unfold as foretold, or are they mere fabrications? Although I found the first half of this book to progress at a leisurely pace, I thoroughly enjoyed the introduction to all those who revolve around Ginny, including her sister Toni and Mffanwy. The girls' mother, Celeste, is quite overbearing, yet I found the interactions between the girls to be endearing. While there were moments that didn't resonate with me, feeling somewhat exaggerated and overly convenient, the book seemed to take a forced turn after Ginny deviated from her destined path. Nevertheless, it undeniably remains a commendable book. The characters were exceptionally well-drawn; at times, they were genuinely irksome, and their actions incited a desire to express frustration. However, I appreciated the journey Ginny, her mother, and her sister underwent in their quest to discover themselves and find happiness in life. Particularly intriguing was the exploration of the girls' powers and the unwavering support they received from the women surrounding Ginny.
Beneath the light-hearted exterior, this narrative subtly delves into hidden issues and imparts poignant lessons, skillfully presented by the author without overwhelming the readers. It offers much more than a typical rom-com, and I found that truly appealing.
Lucy Vine’s Date with Destiny is an uproariously funny romantic comedy perfect for Ali Hazelwood fans.
Sixteen years ago, Ginny had crossed paths with a psychic who had made some key predictions for her thirty-second birthday. Ginny had initially dismissed them as nonsense and had thought no more about them – until sixteen years later when the predictions began to come true. With Ginny about to get married in a month, the bride-to-be cannot help but feel apprehensive – especially as the psychic predicted that Ginny will experience heartbreak, a loss of independence and even a death!
It’s not all doom and gloom for Ginny though. Sure, she might die or lose someone she loves, but she might also go on a life-changing trip, reconnect with somebody very important to her and even meet her soulmate! Should Ginny trust her instincts, follow her heart and cross her fingers that everything will turn out as it should? Or is she about to lose everything she had always wanted just when happiness was within reach?
If you are looking for a joyful, irreverent and uplifting romantic comedy that will make you laugh out loud, look no further than Lucy Vine’s Date with Destiny. A fun read with a lovely relatable heroine you cannot help but cheer for, Date with Destiny is an irresistible romantic read from Lucy Vine you should definitely pack in your beach bag this summer.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It’s approaching Ginny’s 32nd birthday, a big year for Ginny - 16 years ago, a psychic gave her 6 big predictions for this specific year, 3 losses and 3 gains. And it’s been impossible to forget ever since. But Ginny is about to get married, so surely a heartbreak and meeting her soulmate are not on the cards for this year?! Ginny could not be more wrong, this year changes everything!
I loved Ginny. She was completely relatable, down to earth and I saw a LOT of myself in her - the introvertedness, the people pleasing, the confrontation avoidance 🙋🏼♀️ I also loved her support network - Myfanwy, Sonali, Toni, Zach…what a gorgeous cast of characters inside and out! Myfanwy in particular was a fantastic character and I loved how she helped Ginny to make that change that she so desperately needed to make.
The book is full of humour, friendship and love, but I think what I loved the most was the focus on self love. The idea that you can be your own soulmate. You don’t need a relationship to be happy, you can be happy all on your own if that’s what you choose. This book is good for the soul! It’s actually been quite life affirming for me!! Despite the difficulties that Ginny finds herself facing at different points in the book, it’s positive and optimistic and encouraging. I definitely came away from it feeling lighter.
All of Lucy Vine’s books are brilliant but this one might just top my list 🙊 HIGHLY recommend! 🩷
