Market Garden #7

If It Drives

Rate this book
If it flies, drives, or fornicates, it's cheaper to rent it.

After driving James Harcourt, his wealthy banker boss, around for a year and a half, Cal isn’t surprised by much anymore. Not even James’s regular trips to Market Garden, London’s most elite gay brothel.

But when James leaves the Garden alone one night and turns to Cal instead, Cal’s floored. After crushing on his boss for ages, it’s his wet dream come true . . . until the awkward morning after. Cal still has a job to do, but he wants to offer more. Yet James doesn’t take him up on it; he keeps Cal at arm’s length and continues his chauffeured jaunts to Market Garden.

As Cal learns what James needs from the rentboys, he tries to fill that need himself. But there’s more to James’s penchant for rentboys than Cal realizes, and it may be one role that Cal can’t fill without overstepping his duty.

If your favorite Market Garden books were the ones featuring Nick and Spencer, than this book is for you.

Do you remember Red Tie guy from Nick's book? He is back and needs a spanking in the latest HOT edition from the Market Garden series.

In my opinion, this isn't as intense as Nick and Spencer's books and the chemistry isn't quite as strong. However, it is a surprisingly tender story about the evolution of a BDSM-themed relationship. I liked both MCs and the interplay between them. The mix of the real life driver/employee relationship with the bedroom dominant/submissive relationship made for an interesting dynamic. However, the strength of this book lay in the sex scenes. Like all of the books in this series, it delivered on the heat. Hello limo scenes! I love the way these authors write BDSM and they did a great job, once again, with this book.

Though it made me a bit nostalgic for book 4 (my fave in the series), "If It Drives" was a very satisfying and successful read that set my Kindle on fire.

Red Tie gets his own book!
Because you need it.
Because I need you.
We've met the man known as "Red Tie" before... He was the last john to hire Nick before Nick decided to go into retirement in If It Fornicates. Fans of the series know that Nick is not only a Dom, but a sadist as well... So we knew what to expect from this man's sexual preferences.

If It Drives is told from the POV of Callum, the driver who works exclusively for James Harcourt (commonly known as "Red Tie" to fans of the Market Garden Series) - Cal drives his boss all over London for both business and pleasure...

JAMES HARCOURT
AKA Red Tie

James is at the top of his game in the financial sector, but what comes up must come down. For James, that usually means a fall to his knees before a Rent Boy willing to fuck him to within an inch of his life.
It took a lonely, lonely man to ignore the fact that someone was being paid to give them their undivided attention.

CALLUM BRYANT
AKA Cal

Cal is more than used to the usual drives to Market Garden, to the leather-clad Rent Boys his boss takes home, and to the jealousy that comes with James hooking up with someone who doesn't care about him like Cal does...
Could he keep James out of Market Garden and his own damned heart out of it? He could be... a driver with Benefits. Four-wheeled sex god and nothing more.
In a driver's uniform with an unflappable professional demeanor, Cal enviously watches the Rent Boys come and go. Until one night, when James exits Market Garden alone.

Without a Rent Boy to distract him from his loneliness, James invites Cal for a drink....

As the night lingers on and the UST continues to rise, the inevitable blurring of professional lines occurs in the most spectacular way possible.

As Cal tires to deal with the elation of finally getting his boss into bed (and the unbearable awkwardness which engulfed them afterword) he begins to wonder what kind of relationship he can possibly have with James...
Cal wanted to believe that last night had been a good thing, but if it was, then what? Did they dare to do it again? Did he dare to hope they would?
What is it that James is really getting from all these Rent Boys?
How can Cal possibly compete with London's most exclusive sex workers?
What type of future could this type of relationship lead to?

Cal finds himself in Market Garden searching for the answers to all these questions...

This was full of cameos from characters in previous books!
When Cal first walks into Market Garden he spots Jared and Tristan (Quid Pro Quo, Take It Off , & Payoff) entertaining a perspective client in one of the booths - We learn that Red Tie has paid for the company of my favorite pair of Rent Boys... As Cal is taking in the scene before him (and wondering what the fuck he's doing there) he is stopped by a formidable gentleman working security - who turns out to be Brandon (Capture & Surrender). Brandon listens to Callum's story and brings over the owner of Market Garden (and Brandon's Partner) Frank to discuss what they can do to help Cal out.
"My situation's a little weird."
"This is a brothel, Cal." Brandon grinned. "I'm pretty sure there isn't a 'situation' that hasn't walked through that door a time or two."
Frank and Brandon talk with Cal and decide that the best course of action is to get Nick involved - the resident Sadist Dom from If It Flies & If It Fornicates...

...So basically everybody but Rolex showed up in this book for at least a second.

After a bit of convincing, Nick agrees to help the lovesick Callum by training him to deliver the type of domination which James needs...
It had been a terrible idea. It had looked good - learn what he needs, give it to him, and then there'd be some sort of happy ending. What kind of happy ending this type of thing could have, he could barely imagine.
All of this seemed pretty messed up from the outside. Fucking your employer was all kinds of wrong, from whatever angle. But part of him insisted that he might be exactly what James needed, and that was the greatest lure of all - to be needed, to be wanted, to hold somebody together when they went through the bleak times James was going though.
Between Cal discovering his inner Dom and James submitting to this new version of his formerly subdued chauffeur, we are treated to a series of blindingly hot interactions... As well as growing emotions...

It was probably my least favorite book in the Market Garden Series, but it was still enjoyable. I would recommend this book to fans of the series, but it's probably not a good jumping off point for Market Garden Virgins.

I am supposed to write some coherent review for this.... Not sure that is possible because all that's left in my mind is "sir... sir... sir... sir..." and that leather glove.... yeeeshhhh... Shivers....

I don't know why I stopped reading this series after second book and I am punching myself in the head because I can not believe I skipped Nick! That devilish man .... I already know he will be the love of my life.

So... when it comes to James and Cal I loved everything. In the beginning, even though it was hot and steamy all the time, I loved how it was also sweet. Cal was an amazing character, that for the man he loves, went to learn how to satisfy James from that devilish man, that I would love is the father of my children.

So when circumstances allowed for Nick to teach Cal with James in the picture... let me just say that every time Nick grinned for approval... well... I am shivering only by remembering it.

The story flew perfectly, how their "relationship" progressed was simply hot. I was grinning like some kid in candy-store whenever the show started again. The chemistry was perfect and they fit perfectly together. I also loved how their whole "realtionship" was weird that part I loved the most.

LOVED IT, LOVED IT AND I CAN NOT WAIT TO READ NICK!

Wow...that was...so good.
I loved loved loved the first 80% of this book. I may have proposed at one point in a moment of euphoria, it was that good, that incredibly hot.

And then it went in a direction I wasn't so crazy about. It ended well, but it was a little deflating after the exhilarating high from the rest of the book. The conflict made sense, but it still felt off for me, and the resolution felt a little rushed, too easily wrapped up.

So, I still love this story, maybe not enough to marry, but definitely enough for a long term, hot and heavy affair :D

Well Sweet Mercy!!
.... Did I enjoy it....'YES SIR'.......I certainly did!!

Meet James ......'Mr Red Tie Guy'

If you enjoy following a true journey of discovery between a Sub and a Dom with some interesting relationship dynamics thrown in this is definitely for you.

Cal has been chauffeuring his boss James Harcourt for around 18 months and has been crushing on him for a long while.

Meet Cal.....

To Cal's surprise after dropping his boss off at Market Garden London’s most elite gay brothel one night, James returns to the car without a rentboy. Returning home he asks his boss if he's ok, which leads to the pair of them having a drink and some extremely hot sex.

"Good Morning, Sir"
He opened the door and stood aside.

"Good Morning Callum," James muttered....."To Threadneedle Street, please."

He didn't even look up before he slid into the car. Cal threw him scowl. No eye contact? Not even a smile? Now that warranted a bright red handprint on his arse if anything did.

But fucking your employer was bound to complicate things.

Their situation isn't ideal, but Cal is determined to try and make it work.

He seeks out help in the form of 'Nick' one of James's favourite rentboy's a former employer of Market Garden.

Domination is nebulous, a mind set.

I have really enjoyed the whole 'Market Garden' series and 'If it Drives' is a excellent addition. I loved Cal.....I loved his inner musings.

If you like some sadistic kinky fuckery, but also some gentle and beautiful loving this is a must read.

Thank you to Riptide Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.

You know the old saying, If it drives, flies, or fornicates, it's cheaper to rent it? No? Neither did I. But now you know whence the book gets its name.

I haven't read the entire Market Garden series, but this book worked fine as a stand-alone. Callum is the limo driver to wealthy James, recently divorced, now seeking comfort from leather-clad rentboys he picks up at the Market Garden. Callum has a crush on James, and one night James seems to reciprocate his feelings, at least for a moment.

James has a deep need to be dominated, but Callum doesn't have any experience being a Dom, so he seeks help from another Dom (Nick, who appeared in past books) to find out what makes James tick. The problem is that James doesn't just pay for people to fuck and hurt him; he pays for them to leave.

The book presents an interesting power exchange between an employer and employee, where the employee (subservient) is also the Dom, the one in charge in the bedroom.

James was very high-strung for a sub. I didn't understand him, and neither his kink nor resistance to trust were truly explained. It was mentioned that he was bi and that he had kids, but this was brushed aside. Frankly, I didn't understand Callum's attraction toward James, particularly as James treated Callum like a piece of garbage to be discarded over and over again.

There were some steamy scenes, but I felt detached from them and the MCs. I couldn't see what made these men tick and felt like I was getting only a rough sketch of a story, an outline vs. a fully fleshed-out version.

The ages of the MCs are never mentioned. James is in finance, but what precisely does he do? Callum quit law to study writing, and he's working on short stories, but his character doesn't have a backstory. He was all surface, which is too bad, because I liked what I saw and wanted to know more about him.

There is a resolution at the end, a HFN, but the book ends rather abruptly.

We finally get a look into Red Tie’s life! At first I had my doubts but Cal and James eventually grew on me - really grew on me. I especially enjoyed the cameo from Nick and Spencer (!!!) and most of all watching Nick teach Cal the ways of a Dom.

All in all, this was another solid entry into the series. I just can't believe it's almost over.

3.5 Stars!

While I liked this one, it wasn't my favorite.

For some reason I just didn't feel the chemistry between James and Callum like I did between some of the other couples.

Their interactions didn't feel quite as genuine and then all of a sudden the "i love you's" were coming.

Still a likable read overall in what is one of my favorite series.

I still think I will re-read Rolex's book again...even though I read it 2 years ago.

4,5 stars.

Market Garden is one of my favourite Riptide reads, not one story in this series has been a disappointment so far. If It Drives is the 7th instalment in the series and we finally get the chance to meet Red Tie from Nick and Spencer’s story.

For 18 months Cal has been driving the wealthy banker James around. He’s secretly attracted to his boss and nothing surprises him anymore, not even his weekly trips to Market Garden. But there’s something he’s longing to do. He wants to be the man James needs, he wants to satisfy his kinks.

So he contacts ex-rentboy Nick, who knows for sure what makes James ‘Red Tie’ tick.

Cal is an amazing, lovable character. Holy hell, he’s even a writer! How awesome is that? Especially If he’s familiar with a cute author living not too far from him? ;) That would be sheer coincidence, wouldn’t it?

Cal cares deeply for James and after 18 months he finally has the guts to reach out and do something about it. Their situation isn’t ideal though. Callum is only the driver, how can he be the ‘one’ for James?

James on the other hand doesn’t do relationships. After a nasty divorce he’s used to satisfying his urges with anonymous prostitutes, with men he can keep at arm’s length. He doesn't pay them to top him, he pays them to leave afterward. But when one night he leaves Market Garden without a rentboy, he allows Callum to get closer to him…

I liked both characters. Callum, first so insecure and unaware of his own dominant desires, James, all wealthy business man but with submissive tendencies in the bedroom - it all plays together nicely. Bring the sexual sadist Nick into play and… holy hotness Batman!… the story becomes a scorching hot, kinky, breath-taking read. I will never look at black leather gloves and billiard tables the same way as before… *blushes*

It was so great to see Nick again… and it’s not only a little glimpse we get… he’s game to help Callum to satisfy James’ needs. And of course we meet cute Spencer again, it was wonderful to see them so happy together.

I liked the depth of the story and the well elaborated characters. Their dynamics are interesting to read and hot as hell! Once again, the writing is exceptional. It's crisp and pointed, explicit and subtle at the same time. There are no wasted words, no wasted situations. Even the sexual scenes all serve their purpose to further the plot and the relationship.

I just love the way the authors write BDSM scenes, they complement each other perfectly and their contribution always leaves me wanting more. From the range in emotions to the sex scenes, everything comes together… wonderfully elaborated to bring yet another great instalment to the Market Garden series.

3 hot entertaining stars

I have noticed, that with every read book I started to discover a kind of growing dislike for BDSM. I enjoy the strong characters and I like if there is a particular dominance in the relationships between them, not the conventional distribution of the roles like in a classical relationships between men and women. But I like to have one of the MCs more sensitive and the other one more controlling.

But please, save me from "How dare you to come without my permission, you will be punished for it!" *eyes rolling*

The book 7 in the series, If It Drives, is about BDSM. It is a story of James and his chauffeur, Callum.

So, it is most likely my fault that I was not very impressed with it. The authors created a good solid - not to forget, really smoking hot- story about the next couple in the Market Garden's Surroundings. And if you like Nick and Spencer's books you'll enjoy this one too.

It is not hard, it is rather the light version of BDSM, but it is still a Dom/Sub relationship and it is the main reason, why it didn't work for me. The second reason - I couldn't feel the deep intern connection between James and Cal, in spite of very hot sex between them. For some reason, I failed to connect with the characters. It was less about the understanding of these sudden feelings to each other, it was more about not to feel the chemistry between them.

I liked the series but I've noticed the first signs of tiredness by me toward it. It was entertaining to read the first books, but it turns into an endless soap opera with always the same characters in the different constellations, the same MCs, that are not unsympathetic but also not unforgettably great.

A nice hot still very entertaining read in between.
Sure, a must read for all fans of the series.

Gah. Least favorite of the series that I've read.

Should have worked for me. I liked the power dynamics and the leather gloves--that was just freakin' sexy, would have loved it more with one glove left on and the dissonance between leather and skin, but I digress. I have a HUGE issue, like major peccadillo that just rips me out of a book EVERY single time.

EVERY

SINGLE

TIME

Whenever a character is a writer and discusses writing as a craft rather than something like ancillary like a producer and writer discussing a script; where there is that internal contemplation of writing and the woes associated--it RUINS the illusion of reading. Suddenly, my brain stops and says--HEY! You're reading a book--and I'm no longer reading the story, but thinking about how I'm reading a story. I HATE this feeling. I feel like I'm physically yanked out of the experience.

So may be you the reader doesn't have my issues, 'cause I'm kinda weird. Then you might enjoy this way more. Since the yanking occurred multiple times and frazzled the illusion each time I was tense. Add in the unsteady predicament and Cal's tension throughout the story and it becomes an itchy experience.

I liked the exploration Callum undertakes and his true heart. He's a good man. I like James vulnerability and pretty begging. Totally loved Nick and Spencer's cameo; they stole my heart long ago. Finally, with all these pluses the main problem was that I never connected with James and Cal as a cohesive couple.

I love this book because of two reasons! The first one is the great relationship between Cal and James! They have a great chemistry, each one of them has what the other needs, and they have some really hot and sweet scenes! The second reason, is Nick! He is my favorite character of Market Garden series! Was a precious gift to see him again!

I liked this story. Employee who yearns for his employer. And they even take it a level way higher!

This duo is undeniable at writing hot stories. This was one of them.

Even though the story is quite a fantasy, they made it realistic. Both of Cal & James' reactions were realistic for me. And I rooted for both of them.

My only qualm was there was a lull on one the most important and sexiest scenes.

But overall, it was HOT, HOT, HOT!

3.75 STARS!

I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm not usually a fan of such a large age gap, but the respect that James and Cal have for each other, and the genuine connection that they share beyond the physical made this relationship work for me. Kink played a large role, but it wasn't the entirety of their connection, and I liked how much each man clearly cared for the other.

The kink in this story worked for me because of how grounded it felt in Cal's feelings for James. He knew it was something James needed, so he makes the decision to seriously learn about James's needs, and desires. Cal wants James, and in wanting James he wants to understand all of him, and I respect that. I did like that it became more than that, and Cal learned as much about himself and his own desires as his did about James. Maybe more. I liked that it wasn't about Cal being a martyr to James's needs, and sacrificing his own desires to please another. Cal has his questions, and reservations, but he understands that it is a learning process, and he is willing to seek help, and ask questions which just made me respect him even more.

I loved seeing Nick, and Spencer again. I liked the role that they played in this story. Nick's guidance really helps move the story along, and I liked seeing other sides of both him, and Spencer. I liked that Nick's sexual preferences don't define who he is as a person, and don't prevent him from being caring or kind. He isn't just a sexual sadist, but a fully formed human being which is a nice change from so many erotica. I liked that domination and submission were something to be learned, and to be understood rather than presented as something people just knew by instinct. The mistakes, and the miscommunications made everyone seem much more human, and relatable to me.

I liked the conclusion. It fit the characters, and felt happy without feeling to fairy tale romance, or Cinderella. The moment that Cal shares with Spencer, and Nick cemented their place as my favorite characters from this series. My apologies to the other characters who I like, but not as much as I like Nick and Spencer. Another strong addition to the series, and I'm hoping that this is not the end for Market Garden. That would be too sad for me.

I was privileged to receive an advance copy of this book for review and wow! I think this is my favourite of the series and I highly recommend you pre-order right now so you can get your hands on the book when it's released in March!

Callum has been driving his boss, James, to the Market Garden and watched as James has brought home a number of the Market Garden rentboys. Cal has been watching James, seeing him in the lead up to his Market Garden visits and watching his reaction afterwards. Cal is pretty in tune with James' emotional state and wants to take care of him. Sure, he lusts after James but there is something deeper, something that becomes more evident after a smoking hot one-night stand.

I loved to watch James and Cal together and the dominant/submissive coupling of a wealthy business man and his driver employee was intriguing. There is a real emotional side to the story as both men need to deal with the nature of their relationship outside the bedroom.

Unlike some of the other stories in the series, this one is full length and I loved it from beginning to end. I loved the characters, I loved the little glimpse of Nick and Spencer and that scene over the billiard table - hot!!!

If your boss asks you to fuck him, is that topping from the bottom?

This was good! The dynamic between Cal and James was emotional and credible. The sexual tension was hot as they struggle to define themselves without knowing the words.

I'd call it light BDSM despite all their talk of sadism and stuff. A few spanks and a some yummy CBT on red-tie's pool table. I love the way they all got turned on and fidgety when they talked about domination and pain.

It was fun to spend time with Nick and Spencer and even the paintball boys made an appearance. No Tristan in this one though :(

Cal is a good guy. I wish there was an epilogue so we could see them established together. Maybe someday. I hope Cal becomes a writer and moves into the big house.

I'm thinking Cal is hot and doesn't even know it. That's why all the rentboys wanted to help him and why his boss grabbed his package. That's all left to subtext, but I think it's a fair guess.

My favorite scene in the entire Market Garden series was between Nick and Red Tie in If It Fornicates. So, when the authors were tweeting about writing Red Tie's very own book... Well, I might have gotten a bit of my squee all over twitter. (It's okay, it cleans up nicely).

I definitely was not disappointed in this sweet, sexy story about Red Tie--now James--and Cal, his driver. It felt like an honest, awkward, hot-hot-hot beginning to a relationship, and I enjoyed it very much. And, i have a new favorite scene.

As usual, when these two writers team up, they show how well they know human behavior, motivation and emotion, and how to get that onto the written page. Uncertainty, need, confidence, anger, understanding and much, much more. Can we say fun?? I think sooooooo!

It’s a strange place, that partially performed transition from old to new. Cal and James find themselves straddling the squirrely line between what was and what may be, with “what the hell just happened?!” is trying to gum up the works.

Transitions are smooth, dialogue flows and despite this mostly coming from Cal’s point of view, we still get some insight into James.

The tone of this one is a bit different than all of the others. I think this mostly comes from the amount of time and space this story had in order to unfold itself. We still get the geyser-worthy heat, but each encounter is surrounded by Cal and James’ attempts to figure out just what the hell is going on between them.

I so enjoyed getting to see Market Garden through a new set of eyes by way of Callum. And, most importantly, this leads to the crux of the story. It’s quite delish.

The pace fits the length of this entrant of the MG series. Believe me the length is grand. There was time for exploration, time for mistakes between Cal and James, time for hotness and sharing secrets.

There are so many things I want to tell you about this story! However, I will tell you none. Yes, I will be purposely vague. But I will say things like: this is what happens when Voinov and Witt get in a room together, real or virtual. This is what happens when a fully fleshed out (no pun intended! can ya believe it?) story and characters get expertly plastered all over the page. Fun. Hot. Exploration. Shiver-worthy. Hesitant. Human.

Lest anyone think this is merely sex on the proverbial stick, let me separate you from that notion. Character dissection is the name of the game. The results? This. Cal. James. Cal & James. Struggling to navigate the inevitable landmines when you’re in uncharted territory. It breeds difficulty, roadblocks, conflict. And then what do you get? Well, if you read, you’ll see. ;)

The ending is fulfilling on the surface but does feel rushed. Reasons for the obstacles these two faced, and may yet still, are smudged out singularly. In the scheme of things, though, this is a minor issue. The journey on which these two find themselves for 95% of the book completely worked for me. This book is in a battle royale with Capture & Surrender for the most complete meal in the Market Garden Series.
I, for one, am completely sated having taken every word of this journey.

First off I'd like to say I love the Market Garden series with its fantastic writing and steamy sex.

Though I enjoyed this instalment it wasn't my favorite. I didn't click with the MCs like in the other books. James stayed an enigma the whole book and I only got Cal because his POV.

The parts I enjoyed the most were the few with Nick and Spencer who were not the MCs.

Still I enjoyed it a lot but it's only 3.5 stars for me.

Cal has been driving the limo and watching his employer, James, take rentboys home for over a year. He's also been hiding, even from himself, how jealous it makes him. One night James fails to hook up with the man he was looking for, and turns to Cal instead. It's wrong as employer and employee, it makes working for James really awkward, but Cal can't help wishing and doing everything he can to make it happen again.

There is surprising sweetness in this story of two men finding their roles in a new-to-them BDSM relationship. Nick and Spencer also appear, with Nick's trademark swagger. This story had less heated chemistry (although still plenty), and felt like it moved almost too fast into smooth waters. I'd have liked a longer learning curve. But it makes a solid, sexy addition to the series, with a little lighter SM component than some others.

OMGOMGOMG this is really great!!!!!

I don't know why did I hold this book for so long, this is about James , Mr.Red Tie!
And I never thought that James will ended with Callum , his chauffeur.

I'm not a BDSM fans, but for the market Garden's boys, I read it. And loved every minutes of it.
It was a happy dancing I can 'meet' Nick (my favorite sadist Dom) and Spencer !
And to know that Cal took a 'lesson' from Nick the expert, it makes it better.
Learn from the best, and you'll have the best result. Hah!

review coming soon :)

*3.5*

The writing was super, just like with the earlier books.
I was not so fond of Nick's and Spencer's story, and this one followed the same BDSM-theme (which I'm personally a bit tired of at the moment)... However, I liked this one a bit better. Maybe it was James's driver-kink, or the Dom training, which was very hot.
I liked Cal a lot, he felt very well developed, but I would liked to have had more info about James. Or even his POV. As it was, I never really properly felt the romance development between them.
But all in all very nice, and I look forward to the next in the series (I want to see Rolex in action:-))

Cal spends his days driving his boss, high-powered banker James Harcourt, around the city. It's an easy job, and he likes it. Except when James asks Cal to take him to Market Garden. Cal has seen that James' trips to the brothel only bring him momentary satisfaction.

Cal wants to make James happy, but first he'll have to learn to become the type of Dom that James needs. He'll also have to convince James to let down the walls he's built.

I loved the set-up. The chauffeur topping his fancy boss? Sounds like my kind of party. Plus, it was easy to connect to Cal, whose POV the story is told from. Cal isn't pushy or creepy, but he's definitely confident that he and James could be happy, if James would just give him a chance.

The highlight of this book is the sex. It was hawt. This author duo writes some of the best sex scenes in MM. I liked that James and Cal got kinkier gradually, as Cal became more experienced in being a Dom. If you prefer the D/s aspect of BDSM more so than the whips and chains, this is the book for you.

I liked the romance, but I felt like it was just lacking something. Because the book is told from Cal's POV, it's easy to see what he feels for James, and why he loves him. But James remained a bit of a mystery. It isn't until right at the end that he finally opens up, and then the book's over. I would have liked an extra chapter or epilogue to cement things.

Even so, I enjoyed 'If It Drives'. The romance is sweet, but the main attraction is the delicious kinky sex.

Sexy bosses abusing their authority with their subordinate is alluring. In If it Drives, there is no power struggle or abuse. Instead it's a seduction by the subordinate. James's life is in turmoil. He's stressed. His wife divorced him. The rent boy he enjoys on occasion no longer works at Market Garden, the speciality m/m brothel. A bit lost, he doesn't notice Cal, his driver's crush. Cal's been working for James for a while now. Cal develops feelings for James and isn't sure how to act upon it. When he finally gives in to his urge, it doesn't turn out as he expected.

Duos Witt and Voinov do it again. In this novel, they bring a fresh perspective to why someone would go to a brothel. They also show it from the perspective of someone who is in love with the person frequenting the brothel yet not able to act upon his desires. The character development for this series is becoming better and better. With each character receiving their own story, a reader becomes more addicted to this series.

The reader will grow to feel something for both Cal and James. Their situation isn't ideal. How will they make it work? This is the beauty of team Witt and Voinov. Their conflicts are realistic and heart aching. Cal yearns to do so much for James. He wants to be "the one". James is not used to someone meeting his desires and keeps people at arm's length. One of the saddest commentaries about James is why he pays for sex. When James' reason is revealed, it is a sharp stab into Cal's heart. I gasped in sympathy when Cal's heart breaks.

The relationship building between these two characters is so good to watch. It's not perfect. They move forward a step and then back several. The ups and downs make the story more relatable. It injects more emotion which in turn causes the reader to become more invested in a happily ever after outcome. There is more to just these two men getting off. A favourite character in this series makes a guest appearance to help these two men. Nick, the rent boy who is a dominant is here to help Cal learn the basics in a power exchange.
One of my favourite lines from Nick also makes me shiver with arousal. It also makes me appreciate how well both authors understand the kinky lifestyle.

“I’m a sexual sadist. That’s my reputation at Market Garden, and it’s who I am. The only difference between me and somebody who goes around hurting and maiming people to blow their rocks is that I understand consent and make sure I have it. And I don’t actually deal real damage.” He leaned back. “It can be unsettling, especially when you’ve been indoctrinated about what’s acceptable in bed, but all that is a cultural construct anyway. (loc. 1414-1417)

The BDSM in this story is intoxicating. There are little to no toys involved in the BDSM scenes. It's a lovely view of a baby dom being mentored by an experienced dominant. The authors capture Cal's nervousness and expose his elation as he goes through his first scene. This erotic power exchange is smoking hawt and yet sweet.

This m/m romance is recommended to kinky readers who like their happily ever afters.

I was afraid of this moment - the moment in which I realize I've read all the books from the Market Garden series, having no idea when the next one will be published, or if there will be a next one. Oh, the horror... I certainly hope there will be many more books, and that I won't have to wait too long for the next one. So, I'm going to need it tomorrow... ;)

I think all my reviews of books from this series are starting to look alike, but, honestly, I love them all. This world of rentboys and their clients is truly amazing and so full of love. I always get warm fuzzy feeling while reading about them. It's a nice feeling: knowing where to turn to whenever I need a great read.

Soooo... If It Drives was one of those great reads. Yeah, it comes as no surprise that I really, really enjoyed this one, too. Since I saw that people were writing in their reviews that those who loved Nick and Spencer's story, would also love this one, I kind of knew I would even before I started reading. Granted, I did like the books about Nick and Spencer just a little more, but I'm a big fan of this couple, too. How could I not be?

It was so nice to see (or read about) Red Tie/James again (Nick's ex-client). But, I was especially glad to see his driver, because in If It Fornicates I could tell Cal cared a lot more about his boss than you'd expect from his driver. I wanted to learn more about them, and If It Drives gave me just that: the lovely story of Cal and James.

Although it was lovely as far as I'm concerned (I'm a sucker for M/M D/s relationships), it did not have smooth sailing. Just like James proved to be a handful of a sub for Nick, he was a bit difficult with Cal outside of the bedroom.

The story began when everything changed between Cal and James the night James came out of Market Garden alone, and afterwards asked Cal to come in for a drink, a drink that turned into something more. It was then that inner turmoil started for Cal. He cared deeply for James, but James just kept being closed off. Still, Cal wanted to give James whatever he needed, be whatever he needed and wanted, so in order to do that he went to the only place that seemed to provide what James wanted: Market Garden.

That visit resulted in a collaboration with Nick, one of my dearest sadists. I was really glad that I got a little more of Nick and Spencer. Together, those two are are the most adorable couple ever... Um, what was I talking about again? Right. Lessons with Nick. Those proved to be quite useful. The dynamic Cal and James had, even though James's issues would soon put a damper on it, was something I loved.

Oh, James... So many walls around that man. Cal will have his hands full with making him get rid of them. Which makes me think there should be another book about them. I feel like this is still unfinished. Keeping my fingers crossed for James's book.
