Good book. I'm glad I read it again. Concise and straightforward. The book entails a simple method of training where the dog is never handled with force. The dog is instead encouraged to rely on their own innate instincts to succeed in the field.
None of the horshit that encourages dogs to act more like robots than dogs.
Throughout the book are pages called "Ben's Dogs" where he recalls special (and sometimes difficult) dogs he has trained over they years. The love he has for bird dogs is easily apparent.
This book was enjoyable to read. It is not a step-by-step guide to training bird dogs but gives more of an overview of the philosophy and general methods used by the author. I think it would be a good addition to the library of one training dogs for upland hunting.
