Abby’s dragon powers are growing as the world around her descends into chaos. Will she have time to save humanity from its madness? This time, Abby isn’t alone—she has unlocked the super-human inside of her friends and loved ones, and now the plan is to journey together through the Fold, the multi-dimensional reality that transcends time and space, in order to save the world and build a brighter future. But it won’t be easy—Abby is on the run as the government agents that pursue her are closing in, and with them comes a new and powerful presence in the form of a twisted and broken Baku, the Devourer of Dreams. Will he choose to join Abby in her life’s purpose, or will he destroy her?
K. G. Duncan lives with his wife, a dog and two feral cats in Los Angeles beneath the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains. He grew up in a musical theater family (there is a show tune for every situation in life) and was about 6 years old before he realized that life was not always featuring choreographed production numbers!) He has a B.A. degree in Linguistics and Philosophy (what do you do with that?) and an M.Ed in Education, both from UCLA. In his youth, he taught English in and traveled all over China. (Oh yes... there are a few books in there... stay tuned!) He is recently retired from UCLA Extension’s American Language Center, where he taught English and developed curriculum for international students for over 28 years. K.G. does not miss grading papers. He is currently the Executive Producer and Program Director for the John Raitt Awards for Youth (the JRAYs), a non-profit organization that celebrates and awards outstanding student achievements in high school musical theater throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside Counties and the Inland Empire since 2008.
The “I’m Only Dreaming of Dragons” series continues here with book two “Baku the Devourer of Dreams.”
A “Baku” is a Kami like chimera from Japanese folklore, traditionally invoked by children to eat nightmares and keep them safe at night. The Baku of this book however, is a child himself, a strange sociopathic child, who’s miserable life has led him to take revenge on the rest of the world that mocked him as a monster. He does indeed have the power to devour nightmares if he so wishes… or create them and devour hope instead.
The problem for A B “Abby” Rubideaux is, can she reach him? Can she touch his heart, or does he no longer have one? It’s not as if she doesn’t have enough problems of her own. She’s on the run from an FBI task force, whilst trying her best to curtail her devious brother’s apocalyptic tendencies and at the same time, fully understand exactly who and what she is, as she wanders the infinite paths of the multiverse.
Oh, and did I mention that Abby is also part dragon? A dragon at least as old as Ur of the Chaldees?
This is a fine continuation of an intriguing YA series every bit as good as part one. I am keen to see where it goes next…
