In his new position, as head of the Baptiste family business, Saint faces many challenges. But nothing could have prepared him for the challenges that came with dealing with the alluring, Naoki Childs. She was the insoluble problem his big brother, Jahad, talked about. A problem that couldn’t be handled with a phone call, a meeting, or by simply emptying his clip. Saint thought he’d never be faced with a problem he couldn’t handle, especially where a woman was concerned. But he quickly learned that Naoki wasn’t just some woman. She was much, much more than that.
Naoki was trapped in what felt like a never-ending cycle with the same man. Except, he wasn’t the same man… not exactly anyway. In many ways he was. But in very distinctive ways he wasn’t. Saint Baptiste belonged in a category of his own. He made her feel in ways no man ever had. In ways she vowed to never feel again. But at the end of the night, when she’d awaken to a cold, empty bed, she’d be reminded of the ways in which he was just like the men before. For a while, him being the same didn’t bother her. But when feelings got involved, and she found herself wanting to venture outside of the box she put herself in, things got complicated.
For as long as Miss Candice could remember, writing has been her passion. In the beginning, she wrote poetry. Later on in life, when she was about thirteen years old, she was introduced to fanfiction.
The Coldest Winter Ever was the first urban fiction book she read. It wast then when she took Fanfiction to another level. She perfected her writing skills, and began to write Urban fanfiction. At first, writing was something she did in her spare time. Something that was therapeutic to her. Never in a million years, did she think she would become a published author, although it has always been a dream of hers.
Now, at the age of twenty-eight, she's penned over ten bestselling novels with many more to come.
In addition to writing, She's also CEO and founder of Miss Candice Presents.
(Saint + Naoki) Something was missing me for me. I understand there are two parts, so hopefully more is revealed in part 2. There was a lot of words .. a lot of Saint comparing himself to Jah (hell I started comparing at one point — I know Jahad, I want to know Saint), a lot of Naoki being in her mind. Saint, baby it’s been 4 years since taking over the family business, get those damn men in check! Naoki, you can’t be a hot girl and in your feelings too, pick a side my girl - the streets or the man (you should’ve asked somebody about the Zoes 🤣). I wonder what Naoki needs to tell Sienna and if it involves her step-daddy or whoever he is, Bill. I’ll probably still be up at midnight reading Part 2 when it drops.
As the new head of the Baptiste organization, Saint Baptiste hadn’t met a problem that he couldn’t solve! That was until he met and entered a situationship with Naoki! We first met them both is Soul Ties as the brother of Jahad and bff of Sienna and after their toxic entanglement for the past three years, Naoki is ready to get off the ride that is Saint Baptiste.
This man was the most toxic SOB and he was on my nerves the whole book! He often questioned stepping into his big brothers shoes and I often found myself telling him 🗣️boy you could NEVER!!! It was the same song and dance with Naoki and Saint and now that feelings were involved, Naoki wanted nothing more than to be done with this man so that she could salvage the little bit of dignity and self respect she had left! Saint had Naoki weak in the knees while he strung her along and did him in the process!
I really want to see Naoki boss up on Saint in book two and really bring his cocky self to his mf knees! The book read way different than Soul Ties and while I tried really hard not to make the comparison between the two books, I couldn’t help myself!
Saints book didn’t give us enough of who these characters were as a “couple” and outside of their sexual relationship I was left with little connection between the two of them. I was told they had been “together” for three years and was forced to feel something that wasn’t convincing at all. As a result I couldn’t understand why Naoki wouldn’t pay this man ashes to ashes and dust to dust.
The strong ties that were obvious between Jahad and Sienna just weren’t in this book but I’m committed to see their story through to the end. I hope the switch has been flipped for Naoki especially after the stunt Saint pulled at the end and that she places Saint in the palm of her hands and squeezes the life out of his manipulative 🍑!!
I think this could have ended in one book. It was stuff that didn't need to be added. I guess the author wanted to prolong the story. It's still a good read.
Miss Candice girl you wrote the hell out of this! Saint and Naoki are playing a DANGEROUS game with each other’s feelings and I’m dying to see how their story continues to unfold.
"Saint Baptist Soul Ties 2" by Miss Candice falls short of its predecessor, lacking the depth and emotional resonance that made the first book so compelling.
This book feels rushed and it doesn’t live up to the expectations set by the first book. It left me hanging and I’m sure it’s supposed to considering there is a finale, but I’m not looking forward to reading the finale considering the drastic difference in books.
Saint and Naoki are a example of what happens when fcuk buddies catch feelings. 😅. They raised my pressure and tried my patience 🤏🏾, but I’m fully invested in their story; and can’t wait to see what’s in store. Please don’t make us wait too long. 🤞🏾
Saint Baptiste is the baby brother that has been handed the leadership role of the family business. He is also a silent partner of Pandora's, a membership only adult club where anything goes. He should be one of the happiest men alive, but instead there's something missing and he's afraid you admit that he can only find it in a woman named Naoki.
Naoki works too keep herself occupied, because she can't stop thinking about her situationship with Saint. There are also a few hidden secrets that we haven't been exposed to yet, but I feel are coming in part 2.
We first met these characters in Soul Ties by @authormisscandice and did her big one in reminding us why we love them so much. My favorite would have to be Naoki and my least favorite in this book is Jahad. I feel like he should put everything to the side for the sake of his mother.
I love him! Will I probably get some pushback from this yes! Do I care nope! But I’m not mad at Saint! He brought everything that happened on himself! Just like she did! They want to keep playing this game with each other! This is what is going to happen 🤷🏽♀️! He can dish it but can’t take it. He knows there’s something wrong. And something is going on with her. Instead of addressing it he decides to be petty and this is what he got! Until he is ready to grow tf up and admit he is in love with her and wants to be with her this is what it’s going to be. Sadly it just may take her being happy with someone else for that to happen
Even while reading Soul Ties I had a feeling that Saint and Naoki were going to be a thing. Their characters were too much alike to not bring together…and while reading this book I wasn’t disappointed at all.
Both of them frustrated me while reading how hard they were trying to fight their feelings for the other. They were both determined to live the uncomplicated single life for as long as possible that they missed the point where they fell for each other. The only problem with them both being so competitive and unbelievably stubborn is neither knows when to back down. They are so focused on having one up on the other that they don’t think about what happens after the games are played and how “losing” will make the other one feel.
I was definitely getting wrapped up in how this was all going to play out when Miss Candice dropped me ever so abruptly off the edge of a cliff with that cliffhanger! She says she’s currently working on the next book…hopefully it comes out soon because I’ve already convinced several people to read this book and they are all mad at me for the cliffhanger ending 😂.
I can say I did think this book was better than book one but honestly I don’t see the plot of this whole series. It’s just not that good. There is a second book for these characters and I will listen to it but only because i want to know what happens next but overall this just is a meh 🫤 series. Nothing to really run tell about
I’m really giving this 3.5 stars. Why would you write half a book. You should’ve just waited until the book was complete. Guess I have to wait until book 3
Okay, I wish I had waited for part two before I started reading this one. Naoki and Saint were pretending to not be in love with one another. Saint was a silent partner in an exclusive sex club called Pandora. But I don't think Saint expected the surprise when he opened Pandora's box to Naoki... That's what he gets for playing with Fire. He was a Big Dummy for a smart man. 😂. I'm just going to leave it there. I'll be back!
4/5 ⭐️ — Saint and Naoki were the perfect match playing a dangerous game. Being so much alike, feelings were bound to be caught between the two. — how long can they run and hide? Ready to see how this story continues in book 2.
A whole bunch of words that didn’t actually have a point or say anything of value. They went the whole book hating eachother, just to end the book still hating eachother. Baby I will not be reading the second part because I hate a disrespectful MC just as much as i hate a disrespectful FMC. 2 is being generous fr.
I did not like the book ending on a cliff hanger, the book did not get to the point and just ended. I had high hopes after reading the original. This ain't it 😕
I really enjoyed this book and learning more about Naoki and Saint. Obviously they are different and more complex than the characters we got glimpses of in Soul Ties and I really like that. They both need some couch sessions to learn to deal with their emotions and trauma in healthier ways, but I’m hoping we’ll see more of that in book 2. Was this book toxic? I mean, yes and no. Naoki wants to be better, but has past pain that is unhealed, so her actions make sense. Saint…well, that’s tricky, as he’s the baby of his family that now has all of the power and is trying to learn how to carry the weight of the crown and to get others to respect it, and you can see that seeping out into all areas of his life. As a result, he isn’t making the wises decisions when it comes to Naoki because he needs her to kneel and bow and fall in line like everyone else, but it’s not that easy. This is also kind of indicative of what he’s doing in his business. Like people are falling in line because of the legacy set before him, he’s just now figuring out how to make it his own. Same with Naoki and romantic feelings for her that he doesn’t know what to do with. Generally speaking, in all areas of his life, he has been forced into situations that he didn’t necessarily want but isn’t willing to shy away from since it’s on him he’ll rise to the occasion, but he’s floundering in the process as he figures out what’s really required of him at this time as he learns to grow into the crown. I didn’t think this book would have me in my feelings too, but it does. Oki has some deep rooted issues that I know we haven’t scratched the surface of and have not been revealed. The why. Why she so self sabotaging, why is she so sexually reckless, why she says she doesn’t want emotions but the next minute she mad that Saint won’t show her any, why she keeps making bad choices with men, why doesn’t she recognize that she is worth more than sex, why doesn’t she recognize that she deserves love…why?!?! Saint has got his emotions so locked down that he doesn’t share them with nobody. The Baptiste brothers weren’t given the safe space to show emotions so they had to bottle them up in order to be men and handle business. He is emotionally detached or he likes to believe he is and can’t recognize and reconcile that he has slipped and has feelings for Oki - love! I was given him some slim passes because nobody, especially men can read minds. But what happened he did was inexcusable, he knew he was taking things too far but he let his pride, revenge and a need to teach a lesson go too far. He saw it and made a faulty decision to continue on. Unforgivable. He doesn’t deserve it. Two people who bank on their incapacity to have feelings and emotions and accept romantic love. Excellent read!
To be honest I am rendered speechless at the cliffhanger. I have to remember that Saint is 27 years old...pretty much a baby even though he is the boss. I am hoping the next book will dive into character development of both Saint and Naoki. Why are they both closed off and stubborn...it has me stuck. Talk about a dangerous game played which can only leave to pain and more heartbreak. If these two get an HEA that means this author's pen game is fierce because right now I don't even know if an HEA is possible... whew...
I already know these two gonna have me pulling my edges out. Neither one of them know how to handle their emotions and because of it they will hurt each other or someone else without regards. Waiting to see how Jahad will handle things. Hopefully he realizes his family needs him. Can’t wait to read what happens next.
I do believe this story did not have to end the way it did, both Saint and Nakoi got on my nerves. This is why friends with benefits should never be done if you can’t be open about your feelings and have boundaries already established . Once you become exclusive then it’s a relationship 🤷🏾♀️ and from this they did. I am glad I can start on the next book now because smh.
This is book 2 in this series & I can’t believe it would end like that!!!!!!! SAINTTTT….. NAOKIIIIII… Let me get my mind together for book 3!
Favorite Quote- “I wondered if I had enough time for a date with ‘her’ before work. To me, that’s what the sun was. A woman. A bad bitch. A funky ass nigga could never shine as bright.”
I’m so hot ! Whewww chile ! Saint FAFO ! Where is part 3?? I have so many ungodly things to say in reference to this book ! My bookclub has got to hear my thoughts ! Saint pissed me off the entire time.
Hot juvenile mess🥴🙄‼️…Lesson: There’s more to life than just f’n around 🤷🏾♀️‼️”Saint Baptiste (Soul Ties - Book 2) didn’t have the same continuity as book 1 of this series. Unfortunately, both Naoki and Saint’s maintain a façade of confidence & maturity yet function in a veil of obscurity characters with the one they are most intimate & vulnerable too. …Seek help, therapy or here’s an idea 💡 just talk to one another 🤦🏾♀️! …because their vindictive situationship is toxic & annoying🥴‼️
