I love this book. The author grew up in my area and what he has done with his life and the work he continues to do is so inspiring.
I met him when he spoke at my church years ago and his testimony is such a beautiful story. This is a very strong military community and we are blessed to have his witness and commitment to making the world a better place.
I have enjoyed getting to know him and have gifted his book to many of my friends and family.

So, this book accidentally came into my posession because I was home sick the other day, and my parents took the Computer cord/Television card, because they're sadistic and cruel.
Just kidding.
But I ended up reading it, the title bringing me to believe that it would be a fantastic Historical fiction about a little boy escaping some Asian country with some sort of daring feat of fantasticism.
It wasn't.

It was basically an angsty story about how the author never fit in at school because he was Vietnamese, how he started drinking and cheating on his wife, how his life was awful and fantabulous as the same time, blah, blah blah, blahblahblah.

I did not like the book, other than the first or second chapter that detailed his early years in the Vietnamese orphanage, and the last couple chapters or so talking about him going around and thanking the veterans.
Which, I wil admit, made me cry just a little.
Just a little.
