Starting this off as I received an Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) to this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Now; with this, I have been wanting to complete this book quicker than I did but I have been on the road and it’s hard to get to time to read with the chaos.

I throughly enjoyed this book. I thought it was a little slow burn at first but it really pick up in no time. I love the main characters Ali and Nicholas. We love a morally grey man, am I right? 😮💨😂
The spicy scenes were spicy, the depth was good, the relationship and the plot was carried out well. I know many people have a hard time with just third person but I found it was a good balance that really pulled it together. Not to mention Thai will have you at the edge of your sit with the secrets and relationship between the two!
I want to spoil parts but I will just end it with this J.J. did an amazing job. I cannot wait to read the second novel when it is complete.
Also, J.J. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity and chance to be apart of your ARC team. 💕

I received this amazing book as an arc and I was STUNNED! This is a great debut novel!!
The layers in this story run DEEP. While reading this story I felt like I truly got to know every single character I encountered. Their fears, history, dreams, all of it. I personally LOVED the tiny details. Not only that, but the story unfolding kept me captivated until the very end. This book was unlike any I’ve read recently. This book I was very excited for and was given an ARC! First and foremost I wanted to say thank you for letting me be one of many who was to receive an ARC. The author is so very sweet and very responsive which I loved and appreciated!
I will be giving my very honest review below:
I had a very hard time getting into this book. I will not lie. Normally third person does not bother me at all, but I think that has finally become a pet peeve. Maybe.
This also felt like a huge muddled mess at times to where I could blaze through a chapter or maybe two and I had quite literally blanked on what the hell happened.
Also I think there was a lot of over writing. A lot of things I think could have been left out because it wasn’t needed to further the story along. And then there is the multiple points of view in the same chapter. I think I’ll add that to my list of peeves as well unfortunately. The majority of the time they would be separated within the same chapter which isn’t awful and honestly a little more appreciated. But then there were even multiple points of view within the same paragraph and by characters that really we didn’t need their input or they weren’t even relative to the story.
Also can I just say that every time a character is introduced we get their entire fucking being described in at minimum a paragraph. Who they are, how old are they, how they got there and then how they go to be such a high level of what we at such a young age. It’s just all starting to get very unrealistic. Now I know this isn’t much a complaint across the board for all, but this is something for me because it takes me out of a story so quickly to where I most likely DNF.
Don’t get me started on her little friend group as well. And how small is this city? Is it like only 2000 people or something? This feels like a 2000s movie I swear. Everything is so rushed and then over explained. This was really hard for me to finish as I STRUGGLED to get to the end.
All in all this just wasn’t something for me. There are so many moving parts to this book that it was really hard to stay focused on the plot, and to be honest I don’t even really remember what the plot was.
I hope others find joy in this as again I will always state, putting yourself out there as an author takes some extreme courage and I applaud you all. This wasn’t for me, but can be for others.

I initially DNF this after reading ch 4. I'm a smutty dark romance kinda gal, that's what I thought this book was and after 4 chapters, I wasn't getting that. It was giving me mixed Tommy Bahama vibes idk
Then I saw JJ post about the meaning behind this book so I decided to give it another try.
Let me just say OH MY LORD. The plot of this story is so intense and deep, and seeing the book the way she intended made it that much better. The beginning of the book isn't that dark and I struggled sometimes to keep going but she does give mysterious hints that makes you wonder. After reaching out to her, she told me the intention was to start off light then transition to DARK. After finishing the book, it all came together and made sense.

🌷Honestly, I loved this one a lot. This is my favorite read of October so far, and Why Not? It has everything I crave, like Morally Grey MMC, Touch her and Dîe vibes, Secrets, Spice.
🌷Some books are like you see the cover, you read the blurb , you read the prologue and then You are like I'm gonna love this one, it's going to be a high star-rating book for me. This one was exactly like that .The characters, storyline, writing, spice , romance , everything was good. The angst and tension between Nik and Ali was amazing. In the beginning, the story is light and slow paced, but then it gradually gets intense and dark. The spice was good but not that spicy as you would expect from a dark romance.
🌷The reason this book is 4.5⭐ rather than 5 star read for me is because :
• I just didn't like the involvement of a third person. It really annoyed me .
• Overwriting (I don't know if it's the right term to use ). But I think some details were extra and removing them won't affect the storyline.

LOVED THIS BOOK. If you're looking for a tropey love story with smut, this isn't for you. If you're looking for romance, mystery, action and a good plot, this is for you. It is in 3rd pov and offered good detail and depth. By the end of the book, I felt like I had been a part of these characters story my whole life. Not to mention the author's writing was just beautiful at times.
First, let's talk about the spice. It had me holding my breath or it was breaking my heart. It was really well written. I like chemistry more than smut and this was just that.
The plot. I see eveyone saying it started off slow but I personally felt like it was a great set up for the plot. The author took her time but we get these hints of mystery and darkness as the story gradually gets darker. And then, it's just dark. There were twists and turns and some of it had me at the edge of my seat. The plot was done very well.
The MMC and FMC were great together. A lot of FMC are doormats but Ali was damaged and daring and I loved that. The MMC was literally the perfect morally grey bookish boyfriend. He protected her at all costs, no matter the costs. The supporting characters were also strong and likeable. The villains were true villains.
The ending was *goosebumps* fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Can't wait for book 2 but I'm also a little nervous because it's supposed to be no HEA.

Firstly, WOW. JJ ended up giving us this INTENSE story. Nik has a lot of mystery to him. At first, I thought I had the plot twist figured out and was like, that's so cliche 🙄 but it was sooo much more and I liked learning about his past. Ali is independent and protective of herself but she ends up trusting Nik so I'm excited to see where their story goes. Their spicy scenes were good. The ending was pretty good and will make you wonder what's gonna happen in book 2.

Releasing in two days! Prepare to grab a copy (TWs read previously)! This book is for you if you like action, mystery and romance gracefully intertwined.
It has romance, but the story doesn't rely on it to be good. The story has mystery and action that hooks you up from the beginning. I'm really intrigued by some characters and can't wait to see if my theories come to life in the sequel. The romance is good and the spicy scenes are well written, but the smut is not overwhelming (in case you are not comfortable reading them).
The MMC is a perfect morally gray book boyfriend who is sweet and caring. The FMC feels like is waiting for some kind big revelation (can't wait to read next book) and I'm a little afraid of further events.

The MMC is a perfect morally gray book boyfriend who is sweet and caring. The FMC feels like is waiting for some kind big revelation (can't wait to read next book) and I'm a little afraid of further events.

This book was J First Novel and let me tell you she definitely came out with a bang with this thicc baby!!
I absolutely loved this story and I enjoyed the many different layers.
Took me longer than I wanted to read it due to this book has a very HEAVY PLOT and I am usually not typically a 3rd person girl, but I really wanted to read it! I found the storyline very unpredictable which was kind of refreshing! The action in this book was well written and all though there isn't much Spice the tension between Ali and Nik is SOO good!
Overall, That ending has me excited for the second!!

This story is intense, deep, dark and of course with all the spice! We started of lighter and the story gradually became darker. It all came together perfectly and is really well written!🫶🏻

I won’t lie, I struggled to get into this book at first but I knew I wanted to finish it. There was just something about it. I absolutely LOVED it! Ali is the FMC and is a bad ass. Nick is the MMC and he breaks your heart at times. This book isn’t just a love story, it is truly something amazing. There are spicy scenes and some are super spicy. The plot keeps you on your toes. There are twist and turns. I rated this book a 4, only because I felt it was back and forth but that’s the way the author planned it. I am ready for the second book and recommend this book!

Very intense!
Wow, so much was happening all at once! This was such a good read. I especially enjoyed the mystery aspects to it as well. All around an amazing story and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Intense! The plot of this story is DEEP and there are so many twists and turns. There is so much happening in this book and I am excited to see where it all leads. Ali is a strong and independent FMC who is the balm to Nik's tortured soul. Their relationship is complicated and they both have pasts that make forging meaningful relationships difficult. Throughout the story they kept being pulled back towards each other for better or worse. Can't wait for the next book to see what happens next!

3rd POV isn’t my most favorite but I did enjoy reading this book. It started out slow but definitely gets darker as you get more deeper into the story. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding the characters. The spice was definitely there.
Can’t wait for book 2.

I enjoyed bits and pieces of this story. Had a lot of great quotes in it but the repetitiveness of how things were explained and what happens just wasn’t for me. I’m hoping to give another book of hers a try bc I love love love the author!
