I liked this, but Jaxon’s fellow agent, Mia, about ruined the book for me. I loathe her character. I hate her in each book of this series she appears in. Awful character.

The main characters, Mishka & Jaxon were good and I’m glad they get a happy ending.

Okay.. Where do I begin... This book was very deep. The dynamic between Jaxon and Mishka was beyond awesome. Again all the characters I loved and Hated equally, but that's good! Even though I understood Mia's motivation, there were times when even she should not have been allowed to do what she was doing. Action was great, Hilarious, and oh so sexy!! The villians I even loved to hate.

It takes a strong soul, man or woman to not only be real & honest with themselves, but to do the same for the other person involved. This was obviously just one of the many issues that Jaxon and Mishka were facing, but if you were paying attention it was the only one that would have destroyed them if they were not strong enough to not only face it, but overcome it. Mishka abused beyond comprehension, broken, has only known the most ugly things life has to offer. How can anyone believe in anything else if this is all they have been shown?

Jaxon, someone born of priviledge has had the Blessing of seeing both sides, even inflicting his own evil on those that did not deserve it. (his past) but he "manned up" and accepted his role in such things by trying to be a better person, man, & friend. And to take it a step further, trying to protect those dear to him from such malice. In a word? Dude Is BAD!! I mean that in a good way. It takes a real man to not be threatned by a woman as strong as Mishka, not just physically, but her mentality. She also knew when to let Jaxon be what he needed to be for her and himself.

These two had a wonderful balance of self and their roles in each others' lives, no matter what has happened to them or what was happening around them, or what threatened to pull them apart. Even at the expense of letting go of those close to him, Jaxon accepted this and rolled with it. I loved how although it ticked her off, Mishka recognized what a sacrifice this would be for him, and despite how she felt, she tried to make the outcome a good one, even within an inch of giving her life!

The Blessing in this was how quickly they were able to get past their personal hang ups & fears. Finding and accepting what they both desperately needed in their lives.. Love & each other.. And to top it all off, it was Believable! I highly recommend this one! Best in this series so far.

This is a reread for me. I read it for the first time years ago, and it was the book that introduced me to Gena Showalter. My original grade for it was 5 Stars but it seems like my tastes have changed a little over the years because this time around I have to give it 4 Stars.

If you're reading this series in order and are about to start this one, you should know that this book is written in third person. The first two books, Awaken Me Darkly and Enslave Me Sweetly, were written in first person and seemed to be independent of each other. Here their characters are tied together, making the books feel more connected. I, personally, think the series reads better in third person, but if you've loved the first person setup in the first two books, you might be upset when you get to this one. Just an FYI for you all.

Mishka and Jaxon were great characters. I especially liked Mishka. Here was a girl who could be just as cold and badass as any guy out there. Maybe even more so. ;) She's killed and she's tortured, all without feeling the need to martyr herself in guilt. Seriously, I get so tired of heroines in Romance being cast as incapable of hurting another person, even if it means saving their life. But that's not the case with Mishka. She may regret having to do it, but she doesn't let her feelings cripple her. She was a very strong character.

I loved that the alien bad guys weren't written as black and white. The very nature of their race was so sad. How can you not feel for a group of people that behaves like that because that's how nature dictates they have to be? I really liked that I, just like the characters, had mixed feelings over how I felt about one of the bad guys. There was really no clear cut answer and it was hard not to like him. I'm also very interested in seeing where the storyline that was left open will take us.

The feelings between Mishka and Jaxon developed easily, the only conflict in the relationship came from outside circumstances. At times it made it feel a little too easy, but her stories are entertaining so it didn't bug me much. As with most of her books, Showalter can write some pretty sexy scenes. I felt that Mishka was a little too vulnerable and innocent at times, but overall I really enjoyed watching them come together. I found it absolutely hilarious that it was Jaxon who longed to cuddle and discuss their feelings. I enjoyed loved that the author flipped that stereotypical role on its head.

I was not impressed with Jaxon's friends. By the end of the book I was wishing that some of them would walk in front of a bus. I didn't mind Eden and Lucius, or the hilarious Devyn, but I really, really disliked Dallas and Mia. How apt that those two would be best friends! Mia's hypocritical attitude toward Jaxon consorting with "the enemy" grated, considering how her own romance developed. The fact that she would ignore his wishes--even when he was right there begging her to stop--makes her a shitty friend. Especially because she was only pushing so hard to hurt Mishka to get revenge, not because she wanted to protect him. I was pretty ticked that she was forgiven so easily. Dallas was irritating, but I was able to understand where he was coming from. He was pretty messed up over the changes to his body and wasn't thinking very clearly, so I made allowances. Mia has no excuse other than being an ass.

Despite any gripes I had, I really enjoyed rereading this book and am looking forward to continuing on in the series. And if I hate one or two characters...well, I'll just ignore them and fantasize about them being hit by said bus. ;)

Favorite Quote:
"Tell me what's going on in that head of yours. Tell me what you're feeling." He stiffened. Closed his eyes for a moment and moaned. "Good God. I just realized I'm Cathy."

"I don't understand."

He gave a wry shake of his head. "I've got a beautiful woman underneath me, and I'm asking to discuss our feelings and future. Hell, I want to discuss them. I'm pathetic."

Do not melt. Do not freaking melt. "Look, Jaxon, it's not you. Okay? It's me. I can't do relationships."

"Like I haven't heard that one before. Like I haven't said it before." Shaking his head, he began to withdraw from her.

Although this is the third book in Showalter's Alien Huntress series, it was the first I've read thanks to one of my book sharing bud's. Now I'm going to have to go back and read the first two because I enjoyed this one!

SMS is a passionate, you're-the-one-for-me type of love story, with steamy enough sex to satisfy even me! It's also a fun futuristic paranormal too boot. What sets this series apart from some of the other paranormal romances out there is the fact that the protags and baddies are not just magical- they're alien's! Sci Fi buff that I am, you know I'm digging it.

Showalter managed to intrigue me with the set of characters this series is based around- the AIR (Alien Investigation and Removal) team. They're tight knit and fun to watch together and it's obvious they care about each other. (Although in this story I was getting a bit ticked with Mia (Awaken Me Darkly). She rubbed me the wrong way because she just wouldn't back down, even when it was obvious she was wrong about Mishka!)

Jaxon was totally sexy to me and it seemed he made a change from the earlier books- I'm anxious to see the progression, even though I'll be working it backwards. Mishka's own tortured past and the other's obvious dislike of her fascinated me as well, especially after knowing why she did the things she did in her past.

Because I started third book in, I can't say for sure that I'm in love with this author- but there's a definite infatuation! I'm anxious to see how our relationship progresses after I've read some more by her- and I will!

4 out of 5 from me!

My only regret is not having the time to read this book quicker (work is so inconvenient!)

What a start, from the word go, this action packed story kept me thinking, guessing and all on the edge of my seat..

Characters from previous books landed in the 'Cack House' with me, I was furious with Mia Snow - still not good with her but I'm better, A.I.R needs to sort some of its employees out!!

Mishka and Jaxon were a fabulous pair to read about, I loved them both. Mishka has a history to cry for and this was one of the reasons why I wanted to slap Mia!

Mishka is actually part machine, part human, part alien - an experiment by a team of scientists some years back. She carries a chip embedded in her brain and this controls her. The guy at the other side that controls her 'pain' or 'punishment' has the chips panel.

Jaxon, an A.I.R agent, has information that others want and from page one, he is captured and tortured... in walks Mishka!

Anyway, another fantastic book by Gena, another fantastic addition to my shelves, another recommendation for sure!!!

This book didn't really work for me as well as I would have liked. I had to push myself through it more than I normally do for a Gena Showalter book. I think a large part of that was because both Jaxon and Mishka we're presented as one thing and then had their entire personalities reversed as a couple. It wasn't even that I didn't want them to get together, but between the instalove and all the other issues it just never seemed to blend well for me. Besides all of Jaxon's friends whom I've liked in other books just plain pissed me off in this one. Mia especially.

Altogether I'm curious where the new storyline will go with Nolan's alien race, but glad to move on to other characters.

I like this series but I'm just NOT crazy about it. I'm not even sure if I would recommend it. I mean, it's good, I'm having a nice time reading it but it's definitely not one of those reads you'll treasure and try to remember forever.

This book IMHO wasn't as good as the last one. I just never clicked with the two main characters, I was way more interested in other things that were going on. It was a nice read though, I do like the Aliens theme and the not-knowing-what-will-happen-next feeling you get because you are dealing with the unknown. Still, I feel like this series is lacking on the romance department and a bit on the plot development.

I still like it though, and will definitely continue reading it. I'm just NOT gonna rush to get the next one and start it right away.

I thoroughly enjoyed this the first time I read it. I remember liking it a lot, though I don't remember much of what happened.

But trying to reread it now is just not happening. I've been desperately skimming and skipping because I'm just so fucking bored with it. So I wonder if maybe my tastes have changed. Or maybe I'm just not in the mood. I dunno. I'm not changing my rating, either way.

It's been so long since I've read a Gena Showalter book, that I totally forgot how amazing her world building is. I mean, I'm totally in awe of this Sci-fi world that she created. Did I expect a tad bit more of our the infamous L'ace's books? Yes. But as a whole the story is strong and sets up an even more broad story arc that I have no doubt will hold up until the end of the series!

I usually don't read sci fi cuz they re not my fav genre but I saw the cover of the book and his title it attract me so I bought it and said what the hack why I don't try it maybe  it s gonna turn out to be something good and from the first pages of the book it hooked me the writing style the caracteres and the plot it were all harmonised so well to create this masterpiece tye writing style is so exquisite and make u droll and always wanting for me and windering what it gonna happen next . And if we talk about the caractere omg I fell in love with both mains caractere jaxon and miahka/l'ace and them relationship and when it come to mia I get confused because she was totally a bitch that part of me hated her for that and the other part adored her cuz she was so protective of her friend no matter what the result where and there was devyn with his spirit if sarcasm he was so hilarious I wish that he had more space in the story everything he said made me laugh .

This is the third book in the Alien Huntress series and I really did not like it all that much. Compared with the previous two books this one definitely fell solidly into the romance category; way too much page space was given to the main characters needing each other, owning each other, and forgetting what they were doing because they weren't together.

In this book Mishka rescues Jaxon (he appeared as Mia Snow's co-worker in the first Alien Huntress novel) from torture by Otherworlders. Mishka is a Shadow, an assassin that kills Otherworlders to protect humans. She is supposed to get information from Jaxon about a virus that a new type of Otherworlder has brought to earth. The virus turns humans into flesh-eating monsters of a sort. Of course, as you might imagine, Mishka and Jaxon hit it off pretty well. This is complicated by the fact that Mishka is part machine and her actions are controlled by a computer chip in her brain.

The characters from the first two books join Mishka in this novel. Eden and Lucuis really do not play a large role. Mia Snow plays a slightly larger role than Eden or Lucius; but mainly she is a jerk like in the first book. It would be helpful to have read the back-stories on Mia and Eden, but not necessary to understand the plot of this book. The only ray of light in this book for me was Mishka's conversations with her internal computer; some of those were a tiny bit funny.

There were so many things that I didn't like about this book I am not sure where to start. First of all Mishka isn't a strong character. She is distracted and whiny and needy almost the whole book; the only place she shines is in her kick-butt fight scenes...but those are rare. Jaxon, who I actually liked in the first book, sheds all his personality in this book and turns into an obsessed/possessive character. In fact Jaxon is just about absent of any personality outside of his unexplainable obsession with Mishka. Why are Jaxon and Mishka attracted to each other? This remains a mystery to me; I guess we are just supposed to accept that they are.

Mishka and Jaxon's obession basically destroys what could be an interesting story line. In every scene they are apart (or together) Mishka and Jaxon can't work because they are thinking about each other. The whole thing was pretty intense (not in a good way), and pretty boring to read about for 300+ pages. The plot could have been very interesting with the new alien race and viruses and all. The action scenes also weren't as prevalent in this book and were constantly interrupted by Mishka or Jaxon worrying about each other. There were a lot of sex scenes and, while they were a bit more creative than in "Enslave Me Sweetly", they still weren't all that great. I also missed the humor in this book. Both Mishka and Jaxon were 100% devoid of any humor what-so-ever and that took a lot away from the story.

The main plotline with the virus is never well resolved either. I am assuming it continues in Book 4 "Seduce the Darkness" of this series. I own book 4 and will eventually read it, but for now enough is enough. There was so much mush and needing/owning each other junk in this book that I fear, if the next one follows in this book's path, my eyes will fall out my head from me rolling them so much. After reading the first three Alien Huntress books in a row these books are also starting to feel a bit formulaic to me. Maybe I just need to clear my head with something a bit more substantial before I read another one.

The 3rd book in the Alien Huntress series, but its actually the first one written with a third person POV. I enjoyed this aspect of the book. I can say I would've love to see Lucius thoughts in the previous book. So job well done with this one!

We meet Mishka, who is sort of an assassin. She's really not human, not completely. She was created in a lab and has parts that are robot. I loved the voice in her head that was a bit of a computer processor. 5% chance of this, 90% chance of success at that. She's never lived the life of a human and she craves the emotions, touch and experiences.

Jaxon is a human AIR agent. He gets kidnapped by aliens while investigating the comung to earth of a new race of aliens who are transmitting a virus to mostly women. Mishka is sent in undercover to free him and then as a double agent to get info on the investigation out of him in any way needed.

But Mishka turns out to be everything Jaxon has waited for. His angel. And Mushka gives herself the chance to feel with him.

They sort of investigate the virus together. We get cameos from Mia, Kyrin, Devyn, and Dallas. Dallas is dealing with turning a bit alien because of Kyrins blood.

In the end it was an enjoyable addition to the series even though its not my favorite one yet.

When I start reading the book I thought I might gonna really like it, because I liked Jaxon before and still like him throughout the book and I thought L'Ace would be a interesting character, but throughout the story I didn't really was fond of her. I thought she had great potential, but she didn't meet my expectations. It reminded be a bit of Terminator: Salvation and Marcus - human/machine - and the movie made me feel for him, but the book didn't make me feel for L'Ace. She didn't like her situation at all, but never took matters in her hand, trying to find release? Everything felt too easy. I don't know.

At one point I cared more about Dallas and his story. I so hope we will once get his story, because his whole change and relation to Kyrin is going to be very interesting.

The most annoying thing about this book was Mia. It was great to see all the others again and interact with each other and I liked Mia in the first book, but she took one step too far with Jaxon. At the end I thought she was an egoistic, selfish bitch. I might do her wrong, but for me she didn't care for her friend, it was all about her vengeance.

I hope the next book will be more to my liking.

This has to be my favorite so far. Loved Jaxon's story. There was so much that I loved I am not sure where to begin. Can I just say that Mia was in there and she was a major bitch. I mean seriously! Then there was Dallas that was being protective of his friend but was a jerk. UGH!! I wanted the smack them. Le'Ace was wonderful and perfect for Jaxon. My heart went out to her after all that she went thru. This book had me anxious to find out what was going to happen next! The ending was so sweet and just so them.

This was good, but I really wasn't all the way on board with the Heroine. Especially when she had issues with Mia and vice versa. But the story to me, didn't get concluded. We should have seen the queen arrive and dealt with. She should have been key to solving the problem. Nolan could have survived. We also should have seen the shock in Estep eyes, when he realizes he can no longer control Mischa. I absolutely love that Devyn and the AIR team are more involved.

I liked the idea of the book but I didn't like how it was executed. With h Le'Ace being half machine and all, it could have taken many directions but it was so generic. Same goes with H. For a scarred hero, his backstory was so poor. Other than that it was an ok read.

Overall, I really like this book. This series is getting better and better. The heroine has become stronger than the previous books. I love that Miss Gena has brought back the characters from her previous books and intertwined them so the series is more cohesive. Fair warning though, there are definitely many disturbing parts in this book and many sizzling scenes in it as well. In my opinion, this is definitely dark and not for a faint of heart. I also like that this is sci-fi but not the typical nerdy type. Miss Gena’s writing style is more current, hip, and cool. I love that the aliens in her series are dead gorgeous, not ugly as the typical aliens we’ve seen in the movies and books, and who made rules and said they have to be, anyhoo? I also love plot in this book although I don’t love it as much as book 2 but it’s really good. Okay, confession, I CAN’T wait for next book. It’s supposed to be about my man Devyn, the black-leather-kilt wearing king of Targon. And he is mine!

Synopsis

Mishka Le'Ace, a half super human half machine (android), tattooed back, a** kicking shadow operative agent, fell in love with an A.I.R. agent she rescued. She was created to be a perfect seducing/killing machine. Her creators had put a computer chip in her brain, basically to command and control her. If she refused to do what they told her to do, she'd get punished that would caused her unbearable pain. Jaxon, (you remember him from the 1st book; he was one of Mia Snow's team members), was assigned a top-secret case about an Alien race called Schon. The Schon had been roaming from planet to planet infected its host planet female population (by kissing or sexual intercourse) with deadly virus that caused them to become cannibal and ended up eating their male partners. Most of the female would become pregnant in that case both the host female and the baby would have to be killed. While working on this case, Jaxon was kidnapped and tortured by the Delenseans. Mishka was sent to her mission, to rescue Jaxon and extract the information about the Schon case for Senator Esteps, the man behind the shadow operative agents. After his rescued, she nursed him. They came to know each other and fell in love. Love was the one thing that Mishka have never encounter in her life. She was created and grew up in a lab. She didn’t know that love was the one thing she has been keeping herself alive for all this time to experience. She found it with Jaxon and Jaxon has found it with her. After Dallas, his fellow A.I.R. agent, came to his rescue along with (my man) Devyn. Mishka had let them take him, thought that he’d better off with them and she’d never seen him again. -- Dallas also recruited Mia, Kyrin, Eden, and Lucien along for Jaxon’s rescue mission and the deadly virus case, long story short – Dallas who was rescued by Kyrin now became part alien himself. He also could see the future just like Mia could. -- Come to find out, she had a history with both Mia Snow and Eden Black, oopsies. Now working on the same case, Jaxon and Mishka crossed path again. They knew now that they love each other and would die for one another. However, to be with her, was impossible. Jaxon couldn’t let that happen. He vowed to himself that he would do anything to be back with her. While trying to solve the case, he was taken to Senator Esteps and found out the secret he dread. Esteps was Mishka’s controller and the device was in his body. If he died, she died as well. Jaxon had to do something or risk loosing his woman. So he kidnapped the senator and brought him to his house and put him under a coma awaiting the solution, nice. -- They finally found Nolan, a Schon who promised to help them, but later on betrayed them by luring them to an ambushed. Mishka, Jaxon and Lucien woke up and found themselves captured and chained in one of the Schon safe house. The aliens were waiting for their queen to arrived, per Nolan, the queen was the true host of the virus. She arrived on their planet and infected everyone with it. She needed to be killed. While fighting the Schon, Mia and Mishka came to a face-off. But Mia saw that she truly love Jaxon, who she love like her brother, she later accepted her. After all the Schons were killed. They left only Nolan to live for he would help them and take them to the queen. -- Miss Gena didn’t mention if the queen arrived in this book so this is still a mystery. -- Considering the virus case closed, Jaxon, who happened to be filthy rich, married her and had found a team of the best brain surgeons on the planet and finally operated on Miska. They took out the chip from her brain (almost lost her twice). And they live HEA.

Savor Me Slowly by Gena Showalter is the third book in the Alien Huntress series. This story features Jaxon Tremain and Mishka Le'Ace. Jaxon is an agent through and through and despite incomprehensible torture, refuses to discuss his case with his captors. Then along comes Le'Ace to free him. Unfortunately, she is after the same info his original captors were after and it is hard for Jaxon to determine just who Le'Ace is playing for.

Le'Ace is half human, half machine and her every move is controlled by someone else. She must do things to save herself that make her look like the definite bad guy in her lifetime, but no one knows the real reason behind the cold, calculating Le'Ace. Until Jaxon that is. Le'Ace opens up to him about her circumstances and Jaxon desperately wants to help her, as well as close the case they both seem to be working on.

I liked Jaxon and his determination to go with his gut despite the warnings and threats from his friends and fellow agents. After learning of what Le'Ace has been going through her whole life, you feel compassion for her, and just want to yell at Jaxon's friends to back off.

The narration was a bit hard for me to get used to. I had never heard any of Justine Eyre's work before and was kind of on the fence with her male voices. Eventually the story picked me up and carried me away and I no longer was bothered by the narration at all.

I enjoyed Savor Me Slowly even without reading the first two books. The couples from the previous books do have roles in this one, but you don't feel like you missed too much. Saying that, I will go back and listen to the first two now. I am curious about those relationships and want to see how they are built. Also, I do not have a great grasp on the world yet, and think I need to read the previous books to hopefully wrap my head around the different species of aliens. I want to give Justine Eyre another shot too. I think once I'm used to her accents, etc. she could be one of my go-to narrators.

Savor Me Slowly
4 Stars

Engineered and programmed to be a heartless killer, Mishka Le’Ace has accepted the cold and lonely existence forced upon her by her creators and has reconciled herself to never loving or being loved. That is until she is sent to rescue AIR agent Jaxon Tremain and he gets under her skin. Tortured by the memories of his past, Jaxon has vowed never to get too close to a woman, but something about Mishka touches him deeply and ignites a passion between them that can and will overcome all obstacles …

Series Note: Although this is book #3 in the Alien Huntress series, the plot diverges significantly from the storylines of the first two installments. Moreover, the narration changes from 1st to 3rd person.

Mishka is a very intriguing mix of innocence and experience. Given her horrific childhood and the life that she has been forced to live, it is very easy to identify with her and root for her HEA. Jaxon’s past and his devotion to Mishka also make him particularly appealing. Nevertheless, he is too similar to the majority of heroes in this genre and as such does not really evoke any strong emotion.

As this is one of Showalter’s older series, the romance is masterfully written and the sex scenes are suitably steamy.

In terms of the the plot, there are two interwoven threads. The first involves an alien race called the Schon who are spreading a deadly virus amongst humans and the second revolves around Mishka’s diabolical controller. While the first is well developed and interesting with numerous twists and turns, the second, unfortunately, falls flat and the resolution is terribly anti-climactic.

The secondary characters are well written although Mia and Eden’s interactions with Mishka reveal some new and not so likable traits about the two women. That said, there behavior is true to character so it all makes sense in the end.

In sum, Savor Me Slowly is a solid addition to the series and I am eager to find out what happens next with the Schon.

Even through the pain and bruises of a brutal beating Jaxon Tremain is attracted to Mishka Le’Ace who neither is certain if she is there to kiss or kill him until the very last moment. But he isn’t alone in this attraction and Mishka is definitely “feeling human” about him as well. Her latest assignment: to rescue the kidnapped AIR agent from his particularly brutal aliens captors; find out if he has given them any information; and get Jaxon to pass that same information onto her. Every relationship has issues but they have the added issue of Mishka’s augmentation and enhancements to overcome.
This time out the case has the previous leads (Mia & Kyrin and Lucien & Eden) along with Dallas and Devyn stepping up to help Jaxson out of a very secret, very dangerous mission that has his life in jeopardy. A new species has arrived and seems to infect and kill females who in turn infect the men. To avoid panic this invasion has been kept secret and different faction including AIR are attempting to locate and retain these aliens and contain the species. The thread of Le’Ace seemed to contain more humanity than the previous installments thereby humanizing the hunters. Of course the final thread is the romance between Jaxon and Mishka which seemed to move too fast and too slow at the same time. Jaxson is fleshed out well as he displays a very different side of himself this time out – while Mishka came across alternately humanly warm and distantly robotic. The wrap-up did take care of the loose ends but somewhat predictable.
I liked the interaction between the guys and the jockeying for position between Eden and Mia was kind of amusing. The pacing wasn’t really bad but I would have appreciated a faster pace and not so much filler. Overall I’d have to say the series is getting better with each installment and neither the romance nor the action disappoint

Okay, so I wasn't sure what I was in for with this one, and it was so freakin' good that I put the kids to bed early to read it! I could NOT put it down!
Mishka was created in a lab to be the ultimate weapon/soldier/assasain. But no one counted on the fact that while she may have been created, she was still a person. She is ordered to obtain captured A.I.R. agent Jaxon and if he hasn't spilled his secrets to the deleseans, to get him to trust Mishka and spill to her...by any means necessary. And Mishka always does her job...because she's not a person to her "owner" but rather a possession. If she doesn't want to screw someone for info, too bad, she will be punished; there's a chip in her brain that is wired to a control panel and it can cause her unbelievable pain. So she has killed, and spied and done her job because to fail means to be killed or punished. And her boss is sadistic enough to LOVE to punish her.

But when Mishka is ordered to kill Jaxon, she knows she can't, so she decides to make her death as meaningful as possible, but Jaxon takes care of her boss and Mishka and Jaxon get to live happily ever after :)

WOW, best in the series so far. The couples from the first two books were back and had major roles in this book. I love it when characters still continue to have roles in later books in a series. This book is nonstop & keeps you guessing the entire time. We know from book one the Mia has premonitions on account of her Arcadian half. We know that Dallas is alive only because he has taken in a large amount of Arcadian blood. Well he sees Jaxon dying in one of his premonitions. Jaxon’s friends truly love him & decide to stop at nothing to save his life. Tit for tat, Jaxon loves Le'Ace & decides to stop at nothing to save her. All of this personal conflict is going on while the A.I.R. team is trying to defeat a race of aliens who infect & thus kill humans. We also get to find out why Le’Ace is the way she is, her physique, her lack of emotions & her ruthlessness.

This is one of my favorite authors! Usually her books make me laugh--a lot. I really liked her "Playing with Fire" and "Nymph King." She has a great sense of humor.

It has been so long since I read the two preceding Alien Huntress books--I vaguely remembered them; therefore, I'm going out on a limb here in saying this could be read without reading the other two and you should still enjoy it. I remembered abit about Mia Snow and I remembered the golden skin alien was being hunted for her skin and I was still able to follow this book just find.

This book, though, was not very funny.
- dark and sinister
- evil people
- evil aliens
- cruelty and abuse

Eh.

The book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. I have heard such positive things about Gena Showalter's books and the premise to this book sounded interesting.

Over halfway through the book, I kept finding reasons to put it down and do other things. I wasn't engaged with the characters and was getting increasingly more bored with the storyline. So I quit reading it.

It is now in the "Donate to Goodwill" pile of other less-than-great books.

I loved this series. I wish there was more world building. I heavily read Ms. Showalter back in the day when I had very little visibility into finding paranormal authors. Whilst I may have grown away from her writing style, I still admire her craft. She writes different stories ahead of the time and the characters are alluring. I like the sexual tension in her books. I also like the different types of aliens she creates. This is like Men in Black with an erotic twist.

Bye bye 1st person POV, bye bye present, and welcome back having each character's POV when needed. That's a great improvement IMO. I had trouble connecting with the heroine (too cold and whining at the same time) even though I sympathize with her. The hero is OK, but I don't understand the instant intense attraction he feels for her. I felt the plot with the alien virus was not really resolved in the end, and Mia (heroine of the 1st book), got on my nerves as much as in her book.

I am enjoying the Alien Huntress books. This is about Mishka Le'Ace who is a killer with a secret she hasn't told anyone. She meets Jaxon Tremain and starts to feel differently toward him. She's saved him from torture and possibly death. In taking care of him she feels herself softening towards him and is fighting it all the way.

It has a good story with a lot of action.

This isn't love, it's obsession.

I've read her other series, and I'm sad to say that this one (so far) is just lacking. Formulaic and shallow as most of the genre, but somehow this offering is even less. It's like she's not even trying...

I was worried about this series, but after reading #5 I went back and started at #2. (I don't like Mia and didn't care about her book. Ha!) This series is exciting and racy. Gena can do no wrong!
