Phoebe does not think camp can get any worse--the food is icky, the counselors are strict, and she is convinced the lake has sharks--until she finds out that she has to ride a horse named Flash.
Summary: Camp Big Tree is not Phoebe's idea of a fun summer vacation. She's sure the lake is filled with sharks, the food is disgusting, and the counselors are as warm and friendly as drill sergeants. Phoebe does not think camp can get any worse--the food is icky, the counselors are strict, and she is convinced the lake has sharks--until she finds out that she has to ride a horse named Flash.
This is a cute read for kids ages 8-12. I'm not sure if it's available anymore, but if it is, it's a great book for any summer camp kid. The book has many silly adventures that perk the reader's imagination.
This was a disappointment. I thought it would be in the same vein as Bummer Summer or I Want To Go Home...you know, stories about kids who dread going off to summer camp and then realize it is a lot of fun. Instead, this is about a nerdy girl, a camp run by elderly folks who seem afraid of children, really bad food etc. At the end, there is an "ends justify the means" revolt by the kids that just didn't sit well with me. This book seems like a beginners indoctrination lesson. I didn't enjoy this one at all.
