Lee and Julie Colan have come up with a much needed book to help leaders learn to make their business strategy more "sticky" with employees. The book should be a required management read after any strategy session. Why? Because it goes beyond the standard of talking about how to create strategy to making a follow-thru plan that includes employees. After all, it is the employees who are the front line for carrying out strategy. If employees are not passionate, competent, and focused - then the strategy is due to fail no matter how good the goals are or well-written the mission is.

The sub-title for "Stick with It" is "Mastering the Art of Adherence." The book covers this as a formula for strategy success: Adherence = Focus X Competence X Passion. The first part of the book explains why strategy and adherence are important - chapter 3 is the key to understanding the formula. Then the next 15 chapters explain how to accomplish the 3 multipliers in the formula. The final part of the book is encouragement to get started on a successful strategy implementation. Many chapters include an "at-a-glance" summary of key points and a template to aid leaders in planning and deployment. All templates and the on-line link are listed in the tools section at end of book.
