Did the hero lie?

The truth does hurts sometimes, Chastity DID lead a less than exciting life opting to stay home with her two cats and watch bad TV. Overhearing (I'm being polite) Sebastian's conversation was the best thing that could have happened to her, because it spurred her to make long needed changes in both her personal and professional life.

Can I ask ... Who did you call when you need a favor, help or assistance? Aren't we more likely to ask the person we know that we can count on without a whole lot of drama or questions? We'd ask someone with a proven track record of being there in the trenches when we need them.

So, this aspect of the premise didn't work for me, I didn't see what Sebastian said about Chastity as a dilemma.

“The choice is hers, not mine. Her work is not unappreciated, and I thank her at every opportunity. She’s not forced to stay late, and out of the two years she’s been with the firm I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve actually had to ask her to work overtime.-Sebastian

Nor did the label womanizer fit Sebastian ...

“How the hell would you know that? Those women meant nothing to him, and every single one of them knew the deal. He was always upfront with each and every one of them. Sebastian doesn’t have to play games, like you obviously do.” -Jeremy

When someone is upfront with you about their intentions -- believe them and STOP wishing, hoping and wanting them to be a different person with and for you. 9/10 it ain't gonna happen.

The Story:

Ugly (not quite) Duckling turns into a sexy swan to teach her take her somewhat for granted boss a lesson. He awed by her new appearance, but less so with her new personality. She turns into a bit of a heartless femme fatale who has him panting like a dog with desperately wanting her. They both get what they want, but it isn't how either of them imagined how it would all play out. Good Story. Graphic Erotica.

Reissue: Originally written in 2007 and holds up fairly well with the passage of time except for his mother's what about the kids rant.

Definitely A Quick Hot Read, But...

Once again Mrs. Vaughn turns up the sexual heat in another of her interracial romances. "The Reinvention of Chastity" is an enjoyable little page-turner. I just found it a little unbelievable. As much as I tried to roll with the flow of the romance, I just COULDN'T get pass the way Sebastian took advantage of Chastity's kindness. And let us not forget the AWFUL comments he made about her to his friend Jeremy. As a sistah, I would have found it difficult to get pass his comments, especially considering the snickering he did behind her back. I think I would have sought revenge and felt REAL GOOD about dishing it out! And their definitely would have been way more hoops for him to jump through before I could even think of forgiving him, let alone sleeping with him...let's just say there would have been "HELL to pay." I would have felt better about this little tale, if Sebastian confronted Chastity face to face about her lack of fashion sense and boring social life. However, if you can get past that little detail then this is the novel for you...it's definitely a QUICK, HOT & STEAMY read!

I really enjoyed this story, but it is definitely not the up tight, prudish or faint of heart reader. The dialogue is graphic and the love scene are explicit, but the book comes with a warning so readers shouldn't be surprised.
The story starts out with Chastity overhearing a conversation her long time crush Sebastian has with his partner. Her feelings are hurt, but its a wake up call. With the help of her friend, Chastity receives a much needed makeover. She gets more than a new look. She also has a new attitude and more outward confidence. Chastity sets out to seduce Sebastian so she can dump him out of revenge. Little does she know the real man is much more than perceived him to be.
Sebastian has always viewed Chastity as the boring, docile, frumpy paralegal, with the sweet attitude, who has such a major crush on him she is willing to do anything he asks of her. He is forced to look at her differently after her makeover. She is not only gorgeous but she is no longer fawning all over him, in an attempt to get his attention. He finds himself attracted to her, but he also misses her attention.
They give into their attraction and begin a no strings attached affair. The only problem is now Sebastian wants more.
Chastity realizes she no longer has a crush on the man she thought Sebastian was, but she has feelings for the true man she knows him to be. Her fear is that he couldn't possibly feel the same way. She believes he will eventually get tired of her and move on. We get a little insight into the reason for Chastity's low self-esteem, when we are introduced to her mother, Brenda. It always amazes me how people feel they can say whatever cruel thing they want, as long as they claim they are doing it through love. Chastity pushes Sebastian away due to her fear and since they both fear rejection, it seems like they are destine to live without each other or are they?
I really enjoyed these characters and this story. This is the first book I have read, by Ms. Vaughn, but it definitely won't be my last

Girl I guess

This was a quick read but I had to skip some parts because they made me cringe on Chastity’s behalf. What is it with some romance heroines and their lack of pride? Also Sebastian wasn’t endearing at all. I did not feel bad for him at all because her feelings were glossed over and the story was always imbalanced because of that. I’m gonna start reading novels that were written within the last few years because it’s clear that even women have had to learn how to write other women and healthy relationships. This book contains neither.

When Chastity Bryant overhears what her boss, Sebastion Rossi, really thinks of of her she is hurt beyond belief. For two years she has harbored a crush for him, always thinking that it was not obvious, but when he blatantly admits to using the knowledge of it to produce more work from her, she is furious.

Within the next few days, Chastity is convinced that revenge is the best medicine. All of the sudden she goes from dowdy mouse to sultry vixen, and Sebastian doesn't know what to think. When their relationship escalates to a more intimate level, Sebastian finds himself falling for Chastity and the revenge she has been planning is becoming more of a regret as she gets to know the man outside of work.

I liked the idea of this, has some fantastic parts but the revenge aspect drew out a little bit too long and sometimes Chastity was just clueless. Worth the read though.

Plain Jane type reinvents herself to get back at her crush after he crushes her with his callous comments. I was kinda worried about the hero’s character after reading the blurb, but I love a good plain Jane/shy heroine novel. It didn’t disappoint!! I loved seeing the characters realize they were both in love with the other and the heroine gain more confidence in herself. It did have some awkward instances where the hero was a little pushy and jerky, but you can tell what the author was trying to convey. It was pretty good and I’ll be reading more from this author!

Chastity Bryant and Sebastian Rossi's story.

Chastity gets her revenge on Sebastian for the cruel remarks he makes about how attentive and devoted she is to him. She went to town on his ass! Along the way they fall for each other and Sebastian falls in a big way for Chastity. However, I think our girl took it a little too far and when he finds out how she played him its devastating!

Great read loved it!

******

the fmc was very weak and somehow managed to be the one crawling back in the end?? she overhears her boss saying he uses her crush to his advantage and dogs tf outta her. her friends create a great plan to get back at him but the whole time the fmc is so worried about the feelings of a man who talked mad shttt bout her. and then in the end we’re supposed to feel bad for the mmc bc his heart is broken? he literally got a taste of his own medicine. she used him for dck the same way he used her for hours. then calling her a coward for leaving but if she stayed she would still literally be a coward appeasing him as usual. someone pls give a fmc who has backbone and knows where to find a middle ground on her insecurities and self worth.

the sex was good!

Great Book!

I really enjoyed this story! Ms Vaughn you have outdone your self. I was angry with Chastity fir letting her friends get in her head and because she did not have the guts to stand up for herself. When she did she almost ruined her personality. Sebastian was a jerk but he had a lot of good qaulities that her little revenge game almost ruined. But it was a good story and a lot of spicy love scenes! I truly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers. You will nit want to out it down until you are done!

Chastity ‘s Revenge

Eavesdroppers never heard good things about them … true story. Well, that was the case with Chastity, when she overheard that Sebastian Rossi, her boss, not only knew about her crush, but didn’t care and taking advantage of her willingness to do anything and go beyond her work duties , calling her frumpy … with the help of her friends the caterpillar became a butterfly and Sebastian couldn’t resist …

But you know what they say carefully what you wish for 😜 She will get her revenge, but at what cost!?

Good Trope, Bad Trope

A Good Trope is something that is tried and true, but can be tweaked in any number of creative ways. A bad trope relies on the simplest connection between points A and B; this story has both (without disclosing so as not to spoil).

On the plus side, the main woman character is Black, and the main male character is white. Not a lot is made of it, but the matter is addressed.

🥰🥰

I read 📚 part of this book 📖 awhile back but for the life of me I'm not sure why I didn't finish it...but I'm so glad I read it and I actually finished it it was well worth it....glad that they finally got the happy ending they wanted all it took was a little make over and she had him out the palm 🌴 of her hand. Only she could have avoided the ❤️ heartache if she would have just confessed that she knew what he said....

Neither Chastity nor Sebastian were particularly endearing. Around chapter 5 I started mostly skimming and scanning.

Jeremy and Sebastian had some nerve making Chastity feel bad about what she did. She played with his feelings and he mocked hers and used them against her. How is her transgression worse!!

Not a fan. Sebastian is basically absolved of his abhorrent behavior while Chastity is the one that's supposed to grovel? Epic fail with that ending.

DNF. Both characters read like walking embodiments of tired stereotypes. The MMC is a lothario who goes from going on and on about the FMC not being his type (too round and frumpy- the modern day spinster cliche complete with coke bottle glasses and 4 cats) and then does a complete 180 leading to him masturbating in his office after a glimpse of her post-makeover look 1 week later? Really? That + the juvenile and choppy writing style= Hard pass.

Hot Damn

I have read books by this author and enjoyed them. However, this book takes the cake!! I loved the journey Sebastian and Chastity. Sometimes, you don't know what you have until it's gone. Yes Sebastian was a SOB, but it was nice to be on his journey of love for Chas. Read this book and you won't regret it!!!!

Feel good book!

This book made me smile. I’ve always loved a great ugly duckling story! Especially when a beautiful swan like Chastity could bring hunky Sebastian to his knees! I couldn’t give this book 5 stars because of all the grammatical errors. I’m not usually a stickler for that sort of thing but it there were quite a bit in this story. Otherwise, very, very good read!!!!

Chastity’s revenge

This was my first time reading this author’s work and the storyline itself was wonderful. There were numerous grammatical errors which didn’t take away fro the plot but we a pain in the butt. Overall a great story. Hopefully the author wrote a story about Dallas😉.

👍👍👍😍

I love this story about the ugly duckling ..(metaphor)with a soul of a beautiful swan getting a makeover, ending up stunning to show the hero what he’s missing ..but also changing her real self ..then there’s her cats, friends and the hero’s bff..I’m hoping there’s a story about him and the girl he blew off at college..

Hot like fire

I loved the chemistry between Chastity and Sebastian and their sex scenes were off the charts hot. Both of them had faults and hurt the other, which made them relatable. Wish there were stories for Dallas and Jeremy.

I sometimes forget to mark off on my Goodreads account, books I've read that are on my 'want to read' list. This is one of those books, read awhile ago but for what ever reason not ticked off the list.

Could have been so much better

This was a great premise but I feel like the writing was a let down. I wish there was more substance and more depth to the main characters. The ending seems rushed and over the top.

I'm in love with the story line

Really?

I didnt like that woman, was treated like crap. It was ok for the man, to use and manipulate her. To do whatever he needed. But when the woman did it. It was looked upon as, being cruel. I did not like how the black character, was disrespected, verbally, by everybody.

Poorly written, poorly plotted

This was so much tangled mess! Characters used strange, outdated and fragmented language, events were unclear (has it been a week, a month?), and the storyline was a mess.

Cute!

Spicy Hallmark cute. It's short, sweet, and predictable with excellent erotic scenes. Literally the type of book you can just read through knowing what you're going to get and sometimes that is exactly what you need.

Way to Go Chastity

I loved how raw the female character was portrayed. I could definitely identify with the feelings of inadequacy she had and I recalled moments in my life where I was in a relationship and was not quite sure of my place in it.
