Understanding art means understanding the way images shape our views of ourselves and of the world. Art for Beginners discusses artwork as a record of everyday life, historic events, and the imagination. It introduces readers to individual artists, various genres, specific uses of materials, and theories of composition. The closing pages address art's role as a commodity in consumer culture, and a glossary defines key movements, techniques, and styles.

A good introduction to Art written in an accessible way that reads well i.e. not just listing movements, artist names and examples of their work.

Muchísima información pero lo encontré poco atractivo para seguir leyendo aunque si lo termine.
Mas que las historias o biografías de los artistas enseñan modelos de ilusión, conceptos, estéticas, colores, entre otros temas,

Great guide and introduction to art theory. Complex ideas explained simply and with nice pictures... in other words, intellect for idiots. Mostly very interesting and on the rare occasion I found it otherwise, the fault lay with myself and not the author.

A better title would be 'Western Art Theory for Beginners but Not Explained Particularly Well'.
