This book is quite readable for what it is. Lieberman has gathered many unique traditions that extend themselves beyond the "holidays." She also keeps in mind that there are many different types of families and that we all have different needs we are seeking to fulfill by incorporating traditions into our lives. Chapters include: Celebrating the Family, Daddy Traditions, Rites of Passsage, When There Is Just You, and Giving Tradtions.

While this book did have a few cleaver ideas on family traditions, it also had a bunch of chapters and pages I just skipped. The formate is novel-like, with no bullets or creative ways to locate the core ideas. I had to read through the whole story of how they found the idea and other info I was not necessarily interested in reading. I suppose my less-than-stellar review may be influenced by my intent with find info on this subject.

Was hoping for a book of new traditions, but it was more about how different families use fairly recognizable traditions. There are some sections that offer something new, though it's not the focus of the book.
