What is that old saying? "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?"

I took it too far.

"Bond" is the second book in a steamy duet that follows Aurora and Bartholomew story. This action-packed duet can be read as a standalone but would be best enjoyed after reading the “Becoming the Demon Queen” trilogy and the “Becoming the Fae Queen” duet. Note that this story is written for mature audiences only.

After two decades as a journalist, B.E. Brouillard made the leap to fiction. It was time to create the dark stories that had lurked in her mind for all those years. Tortured souls, flawed lovers, dysfunctional behavior...her characters are not for the faint-hearted. Having said that, many readers will find common ground with the less-than-perfect heroes of these stories. In spite of a mild case of cynicism, Brouillard remains a staunch romantic - Happily-Ever-Afters are guaranteed.

A child of the global village, Ms. Brouillard loves Paris, Africa, sushi, and champagne. When she's not wordsmithing dark debauchery, she spends time with her beautiful men, their German Shepherds, and her pack of killer ponies. Or drinking martinis with friends.

A blood‑soaked, crown‑shattering finale where love, power, and vengeance all bare their teeth at once.

Bond doesn’t ease you back into Aurora and Bartholomew’s disaster‑romance—it drops you straight into the wreckage left by Blood and says, “Alright, sweetheart. Time to see what you’re really made of.” And oh, does it test them. This book is the emotional equivalent of being dragged through a battlefield in silk and stubbornness.

Aurora is incandescent here—angry, wounded, determined, and done letting anyone (Fae, vampire, king, court) decide her fate for her. She’s still carrying the weight of her lies, her mission, and her heart, but now she’s sharper. More dangerous. More herself. Watching her step into her power—messy, painful, glorious—is one of the best parts of this duet.

Bartholomew, meanwhile, is a walking storm. The man is unraveling and reforging himself at the same time, torn between centuries of vampire instinct and the terrifying vulnerability of actually loving someone. His devotion is fierce, flawed, and so intense it borders on feral. And the way he and Aurora collide—again and again, emotionally and magically—is pure Brouillard chaos: explosive, intimate, and threaded with that “we could destroy each other or save each other” tension.

The political stakes spike hard in this book. The scourge tightens its grip. The courts play their deadly games. Secrets detonate. Alliances fracture. And every revelation hits like a slap because this world is built on deception, glamor, and ancient grudges. The action is relentless, the magic is vicious, and the consequences are real.

But the heart of Bond is the relationship—two people who have lied, hurt, betrayed, and still somehow keep choosing each other. Their connection deepens into something raw and terrifying and beautiful, the kind of bond that feels earned because they fight for it tooth and nail.

The ending lands with that perfect blend of triumph, tenderness, and “we survived this by the skin of our teeth.” It’s satisfying, emotional, and exactly the payoff this duet promised.

A fierce, passionate 4.5‑star conclusion—dark, romantic, political, and full of that signature Brouillard punch where love is both the weapon and the salvation.

I absolutely loved this, I love Auroras strength and her belief in their relationship even while Bart is trying to push her away, she doesn’t waiver and stands strong. They have been through so much and deserve to be happy together and I’m glad Bart finally saw that.

I’m looking forward already to the next in the series, I’m intrigued by both characters already so my anticipation is high for that one.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Second and final part of a duet, book one must be read first. It’s a race against time for Bart and Aurora:they are trying to find a cure for the vampire race been hit by a strange affliction.
When hope seems to be lost, an ancient prophecy casts a new light on the whole situation but Bart’s enemies are getting closer and soon they strike at the heart of his court. He’s not sure who to trust anymore. The only one who never falters in her trust in him and has always believed in the force of their love is Aurora even when he’s at his lowest and everything seems lost.
The epilogue at the end of the book hints at a new and quite unexpected chapter in this series and I seriously can’t wait.

Loved, loved, loved it!! What a great second book in this fabulous duet. The vampires have been afflicted by a curse that causes intense bloodlust and insanity. As well as super powers. Barts sister has been afflicted and became the leader of the cursed. Bart is the vampire overload who has bonded with Aurora and Fae Princess. But suddenly Bart develops the curse as well. Will they be able to find a cure before Bart succumbs? Will Barts sister get to Aurora and hurt her? Will Bart himself hurt his love? This book has lots of danger, love and steamy scenes. I couldn't put it down. I won't give anything away, but I can't wait for the next couples book!!

This was such an entertaining and enjoyable story! I love Bart and Aurora. These two are both so strong willed and such fighters that they make a fantastic couple. This story kept me captivated from the beginning to end and I couldn’t put it down! I was on pins and needles to see if they came up with a cure and what it would be. I love this world and these are such fantastic characters! Such a well written story that just pulls you in! I very highly recommend! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book

Bart & Aurora have been such a great read in this brilliant series.
I have been routing for them all the way through & I especially love how strong Aurora is in the relationship.
I am also enjoying all her plant based exclamations that have made me chuckle.
As. Couple they are having to deal with many trials right from the start but once they start to work together their strength grows which has been good to see.
I’m hoping that the next book will also feature these two as there are still issues to deal with so that everyone can get their HEA.

Bond: Becoming the Vampire Queen Book 2 by B.E. Brouillard, Author.

Overall Score ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat Level 🔥🔥

I was dying to read the 2nd part of Bart and Aurora's story! Luckily I didn't have to wait long and I was not disappointed. This author has never let me down and this series has stayed consistently captivating. Next up is Vespyr's story and it's lining up to be a good one!

Side note. The covers in this series are absolutely gorgeous😍

Not what I expected.

I'm a bit discombobulated by the second of the duology. I was expecting a resolution which didn't really happen. It also got too overly saccharin in places. I know it was trying to straddle the line between horror & happy but, for me, it didn't get the balance right. I'm sure that a lot of people will disagree with me but, as they often use as a disclaimer on other sites, all opinions are my own!

Brilliant Series

Bond: Becoming the Vampire Queen. Vespyr kidnaps Aurora to draw her brother Bartholomew to her. It works but he has brought his fighters with him and a fight begins.

Vapid

It started interesting and then it just sort of turned into whining, pearl clutching and a lot chest thumping and angst.

3,5 stars that slowly fizzle out

pro:
- as in book one the affliction that befalls the vampires continues to intrigue me and as with book one i wished it would have been explored more because it was my favourite part about the book
- sexy times were fun to read

con:
- the back and forth between our couple continues to frustrate with my tipping point probably being Bart finally coming around only to take ten steps back after being overcome with the affliction. while i can certainly understand his reasoning, it was just incredibly frustrating to read
- the heart bond, words can't describe how much it frustrates me. the word gets thrown around so much and it really takes away from the romance for me
