This is an unofficial, third-party workbook for Peter Attia’s Outlive. It has been independently created and is free of plagiarism.
Liam Daniels has created a workbook as an accompaniment to the work done by Dr. Attia. The goal here is to increase your longevity. But how? This workbook stresses prevention and focuses on five main categories: exercise, nutrition, sleep, emotional health and use of supplements.
He discusses the age-old question—do people live longer because they inherit good genes? Partly, yes, but he also argues that if you adopt healthy behaviors and become more resilient, you can “activate your gene expression” and outlive your own life expectancy. For example, he recommends cold showers and continually learning new skills as strategies that will boost your circulation and decrease inflammation in the body and thus increase your health span. He also suggests keeping a reasonable body weight which will reduce undue stress on the body and not lead to fatigue, that bloaty feeling, diabetes, etc.
What I liked about this workbook was that all these important factors were logically organized and discussed. Examples were given—especially in the exercise section. Lifestyle change is not easy, but Daniels shows how each factor is intermingled with the other. An unhealthy diet affects how you feel—sluggish—which determines your motivation in terms of exercise. Your sleep is affected.
Daniels also targets emotional well-being. Depression, lonliness also play a part in longevity. The lifestyle presented here is for serious people who are looking to make changes in their life. The advice makes sense. Daniels does a good job of making it accessible. 5 stars
