Conall is more than happy to head out after a War Dog has gone missing, leaving a wheelchair-bound military war veteran lost and alone. Yet what seems like a simple job takes an unsavory turn, when Conall comes face-to-face with darker undertones in that town.
Bethany always wanted to have her own veterinary clinic, and she’s been doing a decent job of it, until so much of the town died that she finds it hard to get and to keep decent staff. Her temporary help suddenly embroils her clinic in a mess involving a missing War Dog, and then Bethany uncovers what else this young lady is involved in. None of it’s good.
Conall refuses to back down or to walk away from the sudden hell Bethany’s life has become. No telling how ugly this can get …

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It kept you on your toes with what was going to happen next. It's Conall's turn at finding a war dog, but there's more dangerous things going on that has nothing to do with the dog. Bethany is the vet doctor who things going on at her clinic and the bullies in town are dangerous. HEA.
Conall has no problem looking for a missing war dog and before he even starts his investigation, he witnesses a big problem in this town. He'd stopped to have some lunch before starting at the veterinary office where the dog was before going missing. The local hoodlums came in and one of them made quite the scene over a coffee the café doesn't serve. He and his friends left without paying and Conall takes a picture of their vehicle before settling in to eat. The owners Joe and Rosalind, witness the second confrontation outside the diner where Jake the leader of the crew threatens Conall.
At the veterinary office Conall meets with Bethany Wittaker, the vet who took care of the War Dog Bacchus and Mel the receptionist. The day of the dog's disappearance seems to have had some chaos involved and Mel didn't see who took the dog.
Conall gets far more information about Bacchus and his habits from Michael the owner. It seems since his nephew Page came to stay with him the dog had taken to wandering during the day. Michael asked Page to follow the dog, but Page kept saying he lost track of him. Conall caught Page's lie and called him out on it.
Page is truly clueless about how Michael felt about the dog, and his distress that he'd been lied to. Page's attitude is that it's just a dog, it's gone forget it.
Conall reassures Michael he would look for Bacchus and when Page leaves, Conall and Michael speak frankly about him. Page obviously doesn't care about his uncle, and he doesn't want to get a job either. Just living with him and sponging what he can off him. His mother sent him there after he was caught stealing from the cash register at work, with the money recovered they didn't press charges just let him go. They also talk about Bacchus and his temperament which Michael describes as a big baby who loves everyone.
When he leaves Michael, he returns to the veterinary office and speaks with Bethany again. This time about her receptionist Melanie and they decide to go speak with the girl at home.
Melanie really has no clue that what she did is a crime and is not taking any responsibility for her actions. From stealing the petty cash for her boyfriend Page to opening the door multiple times until Bacchus left on his own, she has no clue.
Things start taking quite the twist from here as Conall returns to Michael's. It becomes far more than the missing War Dog and between Mel and Page and Jake and his crew things are certainly heating up.
I couldn't put this book down; the absolute craziness baffled me to no end. I loved the way Conall and Melanie form a relationship before they even realize it.
I do love these war dog stories, Dale Mayer gives them heart with angst. Ex navy SEAL. Conall Burke had lost a leg whilst on a mission, he had been working with Badger and Kat whilst Kat fashioned him one of her state of the art prosthesis'. Badger worked on locating war dogs that had gone of the radar, dogs who had served their country, dogs who deserved a happy retirement, sadly this didn't always happen. When Badger asked Conall for help in tracing war dog Bacchus, Conall was happy to help. Bacchus had been adopted by Michael Stanford, a wheelchair bound navy vet, the dog had been his companion and comfort before he disappeared, Conall would do everything in his power to reunite the pair but Conall had no idea what was facing him in the rundown mill town. Bethany Whittaker had worked hard to build up her veterinary practice but staff were hard to come by and she was finding it more and more difficult, people were leaving the town in droves and now she was being questioned by a military man about a war dog who had escaped from her surgery. Bethany was fond of Bacchus and she would do anything to help Conall find him but in this town it would be difficult, everyone was afraid of the thugs who thought that they were above the law, thugs who thought that they were untouchable. This story has everything corruption, theft, intimidation, attempted murder, palpable fear but on the other side, bravery, loyalty, a beautiful dog and a lovely blossoming romance between the feisty vet and the ex navy SEAL. a real page turner.

This is one of my favourites of the series, everything is tackled.... corruption, abuse, racism, theft, small town politics and long overdue reunions, and it is all done cleverly and with care where needed. Conall is looking for a War Dog, but finds a town crumbling under terror and abuse, it seems the only ones to fight this are him, as an outsider, and a very feisty, very angry vet. I really like just how blunt and to the point Conall is, he rarely raises his voice, but never fails to get his point (and threats where needed) across, his calm but insistent confrontations seem to ruffle more feathers than shouting and making a scene - exactly as he plans. But he never imagined, never mind planned for, Bethany. A woman who is willing to fight the injustices by his side, she has his back, is strong willed, feisty and smart....but just needed the back up of another person to face the bullies and fight for the town. There are so many great characters in this book, not only Conall and Bethany, but also Michael, Gage and Miriam. And whilst the "good" characters are very likable and easy to cheer for, the bad characters are really well written and very easy to dislike....even before you know just how bad they are! I have read the whole series, and really like them all, but this is one of the best of the series.

This story can teach us all some important lessons about the feeling you get from buying things with money that was earned, not tolerating constant bad behaviour (no matter how much you love someone) and treating people with respect (especially veterans). The whole town was under the shadow of the main employer there, and it was good to make that clear (even though it was too late for Bethany and her mother). Easy to read, feel and understand.

A great story! This, to me, is a story depicting bullies and what can happen when bullies get away with their actions and crimes.
I enjoyed Connal’s grit and determination to not let the bullies continue to get away with taking such advantage of the people in this little town.
The story moves along nicely and ramps up in intensity as the bullies become bolder in their arrogance. I enjoyed the confrontation at the police station and the truth being told. Connal didn’t shy away from telling it like it is and how it’s going to be. He stayed true to seeing justice being served and educated Jake’s father on his lack of parenting skills!
A lot of details at play to show how youth, entitlement, ego and even stupidity, can derail those that lack motivation in their life.
I really enjoyed reading Conall . Conall is part of the K-9 Files . Conall Burke is asked to investigate a war dog that now belongs to a wheelchair bound veteran , that has gone missing . Upon arrival he stops at a small cafe where he soon is a witness too a group of young men causing trouble . When he steps in they harass him . Conall heads to the local veterinarian to maybe get some answers . As Conall's search continues for Bacchus Dr. Bethany Wittaker and Conall soon find themselves knee deep in danger from two different sources . When everything comes to ahead . They may just find themselves headed for a relationship. This story is intense and Suspenseful . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Conall starts out on a simple assignment of checking on the missing War Dog, Bacchus. But when he gets to the small town, he quickly learns there are bullies being allowed to cause havoc with no consequences. And then there is the matter of the wheelchair-bound veteran's nephew, who seems to be up to no good.
This is a complex story with multiple issues to be dealt with by Conall and Bethany. There are people who have some information regarding Bacchus but who keep quiet when asked for information or who didn't bother to investigate as to who Bacchus belonged to. As the story progresses, so does the danger and there are some surprising twists before the dust finally settles and Conall and Bethany get their HEA.
Even though an injury ended his career as a Navy SEAL he is always willing to step in especially when it involves a missing canine who served his country. When he comes into town, he finds himself at the veterinary clinic where he meets Bethany, and he realizes that the missing dog is only the beginning of the problems that this town has.
Bethany has always wanted to own her own veterinary clinic however the reality is far different than she expected. Not only is she worried about the missing dog but Conall’s arrival in town will also have her facing the problems not only with the town but within her own clinic as well.
Action, intrigue and romance combine as a missing dog becomes the matchmaker for Conall and Bethany.
When Conall is assigned to find a missing war dog, Bacchus, he finds more than just the dog but a heap of trouble in a small town that’s corrupted. Bethany is the town vet and when Conall confronts her about Bacchus she wants to help and gets mixed up in the chaos that follows. More and more their lives are put in danger and it will take Cornwall using his connections with Badger to put an end to a gang that are out for revenge. A good read with some suspense, two romances and good characters. I would have liked some closure on all the people responsible, the gang, the dad, the nephew and girlfriend….what happened to them all…did they finally get justice for everything that happened. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
I think Conall has his work cut out in this book. Not only is he looking for Bacchus, the war dog but he also has to save a town Bethany is the local vet and is tired of the town she is in because she is short staffed and people are leaving the dying town. Conall has arrived and is ruffling feathers already. All he wants is to find the dog but that leads him down the rabbit hole of police corruption, victim blaming and having to call in the Calvary. I really liked this book because although there was a lot going on, it all tied up really nicely. I loved how the crooks hung themselves with the rope Conall and the Calvary gave them. All is well with hope of a future it may seem. Can’t wait for the next book.
Conall by Dale Mayer K9 Files Book Twenty-Four Conall Burke has been sent to a small town to find Bacchus, a War Dog. A veteran named Michael had him, but they lost track of the dog when his nephew moved in. Bethany Wittaker is a veterinarian in town, and the dog was last seen in her care. Yet, the story seems much different than she was led to believe. I enjoyed this story even though it goes much deeper than finding Bacchus. Bullies in town, secrets and lies, and much more in this dying town make it harder for Conall to find the truth. Also, he’s not about to leave town until justice is served. **Mild sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Fast paced with lots of heart. K9 Bacchus wound his way into mine. This book had a lot going on, besides Conall, our ex SEAL with a missing leg searching for K9 Bacchus. We see bullying, racism, thugs, down syndrome all taking place in a small dying town with only one real business. Conall arrives and sees the thugs in action. After meeting our wounded vet, he meets Bethany, the veterinarian and things keep happening, almost non stop. Alot of action and lots of feels. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #Conall #K9Files #DaleMayer #ValleyPublishingLTD #Booksprout
Cornell was sent to find Bacchus the War Dog and his first experience in town was interrupted by the town punks in the diner demanding free food and coffee. Conall was shocked by how this small town was operating and trouble around every corner. He did step in trying to settle the disruptions while searching for Bacchus. He found the missing dog being well cared for but not with his owner. Will Conall be able to fix the dog ownership without upsetting anyone? Will he be able to live through all the discord in town? More importantly will he be able to help the beautiful veterinarian, keep her safe and maybe make a life with her?
Conall is sent to a small town to look Bacchus a missing War dog but, gets way more than he bargained for. This town is run by a bunch of thugs who think they can do what they want intimidating people and showing no respect. Bethany runs the vet clinic where Bacchus was when he got out and ran. We see quite the mix of people who just seem to give up and don't really care anymore till Conall comes to town. There's corruption, danger, suspense, a romance starting to come to life. Quite the rollercoaster with this one.
This was an intense, fast paced story with a lot happening. Conall shows up looking for a lost War Dog that was last seen at Bethany’s clinic. What he walks into in the small town is a lot more trouble than he realized. Conall hates bullies so when he sees a couple of different ones getting away with taking advantage of people he has no choice but to step in. This causes things that were simmering in the town to boil over.

I love this series and hope it never ends. Missing war dogs who need finding or saving and the wonderful ex military folk that volunteer to take on each mission. Finding their special person while on the hunt is always heart warming. Conall was off to a small town to visit the wheel chair bound Veteran and find out what happened. All is not as it seems in that home, let alone the town that appears to be run by bullies. His next stop is the Veterinary where the dog vanished from. Conall can smell a lie and is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery. There were three separate families here having drama in their lives that Conall was determined to fix. Bullies, theives, guns and crooked cops...where would it all end before someone was killed. Great story with so much going on, bring on the next story.
Another great read for this amazing series. Love love these storylines about the War Dogs. This storyline with Conall and Bethany had intrigue, action, and stories to make you think about how we treat our veterans, elder abuse, and police corruption. I always love reading about alpha men who are protective. Conall fits the bill. He is amazing with Michael and Danny. Love him and Bethany together. Hope to see more of them. This, I believe, is the first War Dog to stay with its owner once found. Can't wait for the next installment of K9 Files Series.
Wow! Another story by Dale! Another story of a veteran and a veterinarian. This story is about Conall and Bethany. The war dog is Bacchus. This story doesn't have Conall keeping the war dog this time but he does find him in good health. However, there are dangerous bullies in the small town and Conall helps to take care of those bullies. Their love story actually starts at the end of the story. So glad the bullies were taken care of and three different families got their happy endings. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book!
Nail biting story full of suspense and danger, this is not a nice place to live it seems. Conall in looking for a missing war dog ends up caught in a battle of wills with some locals who definitely do not understand right or wrong or respect. Honestly it was touch and go for a while if there would be a happy outcome, but trust the author to steer it the right way. Blistering and full on read with loads going on, I just hung on for the ride. I need a holiday now to recover.
A man who doesn't like or accept bulling will do what is needed to check and return the war dog to its current owner. A small town, with its "my Dad owns this town and you can not touch me"comes in to play. Seeing the effects of this hurts Conall in many ways. Helping the return soldier, the towns vet seems to bring out things the town hoped to keep hidden. Working together has shocking outcomes which keeps you turning the pages.
This is another wonderful story in The K9 Files series, fast-paced and well-written with a storyline that pulls you in and keeps you invested in the lives and drama surrounding Bethany, her family and the small town she lives in. Conall is sent to unassuming town to look for a missing wardog and finds all sorts of other problems as well. Good Story. Great characters. Definitely recommend this book and series.
This incredible read kept me up late and stretched my nerves to their breaking point. I was very quickly completely wrapped up in this intense and twisty story and passionately invested in the well-being of the characters. The storyline is gripping, thrilling and captivating with its skillful blend of drama, danger, action, emotion, twists, tension, heart and emotion. Conall and Bethany had great chemistry and I loved witnessing their relationship take root, grow and blossom.
I really enjoyed the multiple storylines interwoven within this, Conall thinks he is just going to find Bacchus the war dog, but this small town has so much more going on. Conall and Bethany are a perfect match but at first there is other things going on however as the danger grows they get closer, but the danger in this one is darn close as well as not just a one off!.

This story involves honor, respect, love, family relations, mystery and angst all wrapped around Conall's trip to a small town to find Bacchus, a missing K-9. Multiple families are involved with varying problems. Finding Bacchus and the reason he is missing will tie everything together in a very satisfying finish. One of my favorites.

Conall is a rough, blunt and tenacious former SEAL on the hunt for missing War Dog, Bucchus. His search takes him to a bitter, bullied and dying small town. There he meets veterinarian, Bethany. Conall finds trouble everywhere he goes in this insipid town, just because he stands up for integrity, honesty and those in need. Bethany is right beside him. They fight the despair, pettiness and viciousness that permeates the town. Their efforts are rewarded, by not without bravery and determination on their part. Well done.
a universe away from the earliest books in this K9 series, we see more of Kat technology and magic job matching at work
it's interesting that the romantic connections are steamy and intense but not graphic or full of vulgar exclamations like some less well written adventures.
this is about honor, community, story and responsibility - to the dogs, each other, ideals of community and connections.
intense and insightful as well as emotionally powerful.
A romance begins Consol looks for the War dog also finds love!
Love these stories! Romance begins while looking for these dogs! Just to let you know, war dogs are considered equipment just as active duty personnel are equipment! Are war dogs taken care of? Maybe if someone wants them! Waiting for the next one!
Conall and Bethany are up against a lot. The county should be named Backwoods Crazy, because it has enough crazy lowlife thugs running around. Drama, danger, romance, and a whole county of crazies hahaha. This novel hit the trifecta for romantic entanglements. Really enjoyed reading the story. Another winner for the author.
This is a great K9 storyline full of action and intrigue. if you like romance, suspense, drama, mystery and hot alpha males then this book is right for you! The characters are well developed and captivating. The twist and turns will keep your interest and have you turning pages. I look forward to reading the next book.
