My Brother's Teammates

Rate this book
My ex kicked me out on the night we were supposed to move in together.
So now I'm crashing with my big bro and his trio of football titans.

I've been Jason's nerdy little sister since forever.
He's the quarterback heartthrob, and I'm the resident book hermit.
But hold tight, 'cause life just threw a Hail Mary—I'm the new roomie.
And in a lightning-fast 24 hours, I caught all three of Jason's BFFs in their birthday suits.

Axel Fitzgerald is tall, dangerously flirty, and built for football.
With his smooth Irish lilt, he has probably melted half the panties on St. Ida’s campus.
He has also been my brother’s best friend throughout his entire college career.
That's about to change now that he’s been sneaking into my shower every morning.

Hudson Dupont is a hot-as-sin rich boy, whose last name graces all the buildings at our school.
He's used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it.
I just never imagined that the thing he wanted most was for me to wear nothing but his numbered jersey.

Ryder Tuff , the team's bad boy, has always regarded me with disdain.
He insists he wants nothing to do with me, even as he pulls me closer against his wall of muscles in the dark.
But when his tough exterior crumbles and he starts calling me his "little kitten,"
I know we are ALL in a world of trouble.

Getting involved with these three football Gods is the last thing I ever wanted.
And when they promise me that this is NOT just another game to them,
I'm terrified that this scandal might break my heart all over again.

Besides, they ALL might hate me when they find out that sleeping with my brother’s best friends isn't the only secret that I am keeping…

18+ only. This is a standalone college football reverse harem romance with no cheating and an HEA.

My Brother’s Teammates was a fluffy and spicy RH romance that just felt good to read. Jenny finds herself out of a place to live and goes to her brother’s house for shelter until she can figure things out. But one night turns into two and before Jenny knows it, she’s wiggled her way into her brother’s best friend’s hearts. Ryder, Axel and Hudson each have their own unique personality and soon they realize maybe Jenny would be open to having a relationship with all of them because they’re not sure they’re willing to let her go.

“Ride his fucking face, Kitten. He’ll come up for air if he needs it.”

Jenny doesn’t fight the attraction to these football stars even though she knows her brother will be less than pleased about the development. But she’s willing to fight for them.

“Love doesn’t wait until you’re ready. It doesn’t come on a pretty spring morning when you’ve just had your hair done and your nails have no chips and you’re in your good panties. It stumbles in drunk on a stormy night, knocking things over and making a mess. It’s ugly before it’s beautiful a lot of times.”

This story was a bit lengthy at times but had plenty of spice, a little bit of plot and was just an overall feel good romance with characters that were decently developed.

An entertaining reverse harem with brother's best friends, second chances, college romance, a bit of enemies to lovers all woven in. Spicy read that has a decent plot to go with the spice. It was a fun, quick read that will have your blood heating up in no time while enjoying a decent story too!

I don’t usually write reviews but this book was …. Something. The plot was interesting but the writing was just.. bad. They talk mostly in weirdly worded paragraphs and MOST of their interactions don’t make sense? Like they all laugh about something but nothing happened or it just didn’t make sense. I felt like I was losing my mind. And the fact that every adult they encounter just KNOWS they are all sleeping together and have nothing bad to say… like axels grandma and stepdad. AND Axels grandma talks to spirits that talk to her about their relationship? Also when Jenny tells her parents and they support her instantly and her mom has some crazy quotes “I never thought you’d have brother husbands” & “I’m proud my daughter pulled 3 football players” & “you should go out and get a new group of bfs to make the first group jealous” & “we aren’t moving closer to you, your father and I have a active sex life and I’m not losing that” this mom on a roll I can’t with her. And Jason finding out about Jenny and Ryder when they just kiss in front of him and just “forgetting” he was standing there. Another one is when Jenny is fighting with the guys in the front yard of her parents house, WITH HER PARENTS NEXT TO HER and she continues to shout about how she’s not a “convenient fuck” girly what we doing. I liked the idea of the plot but the writing ruined it for me. I cringed way too much.

WARNING: I will have some spoilers added to this review. So, if you'd rather be surprised, then please do NOT keep reading. Otherwise, please enjoy my thoughts on this book! 😊

This book was so cute! I loved it! *Squeeeal*

If you're looking for a dark RH or anything with a tough and rebellious FMC, then this is not for you. I mean you still might like it, but this was definitely not even close to either of those tropes. This was definitely more in the sweet, rom com, very nearly Hallmark movie category of RH novels.

That is not a bad thing at all, though. I happen to LOVE these kinds of tropes. I mean Badass, kick butt, sassy FMCs aren't awful or untouchable tropes to me, but I kind of like to switch it up once and a while with a sweet, funny, or nerdy FMC. In this RH, we get all three.

Did I mention yet, how great and swoon-worthy the guys were? I mean that was just the icing on the RH cake, if you ask me!

Okay, so lets break this down. Here's a final warning, y'all. If you DO NOT want any spoilers, I'd step out now. If you're like 'Eff it I wanna know what I'm getting into, then please, by all means, read on!

Let's start with the plot and storyline. I have to say I was very surprised. A lot of "indie" or these kinds of nearly Hallmark versions of books are kind of a hit or miss. You either love 'em (like how much I loved Lily Gold's Faking with Benefits) or you hate 'em. Some are straight up in the middle and you just end up forgetting about them or you just have that feeling of "meh it could have been better." Then promptly move on to your next TBR book hoping that it will be awe-inspiring to replace the feeling of emptiness. (Is that too exaggerated. Yes, *sniff* it is. lol)

Its like:

Haa haa just kidding.

Anyways. Where was I going with this....? OH, yeah. Well to say in the least, this book was pretty well written and it wasn't overflower-y or droll. It had a nice pacing and everything was the right amount of detailed. The author took her time giving the context of why our FMC was staying with the guys without completely keeping the reader in the dark. It gave me the perfect balance of 'want to know' and "I'm diggin' what's happening right now so let's see where this goes."

The FMC was also NOT annoying in this one, so it made liking this book so much better. Yes, I think she was eager to get with the guys sometimes, but other than that she acted pretty normal. She was thoughtful, listened to their issues, and was there for them despite their hangups (like Ryder very non-subtly pushing Jenny away so that he doesn't get distracted). I think in all, she was funny and was the guys' perfect balance.

That's another thing. This book was hilarious. Now, this is not the first time I say this and it won't be the last. I like it when a character isn't a clown, but is naturally funny/witty. This author did a good job of making this book funny without losing the individualization of the characters.

For example, Gran (Axel's grandmother). She was a hoot. Yes, a little out there, but definitely funny. I liked that she was very different from the guy's brand of humor or even Jenny's parent's wit. The author balanced out this humor with the touch of seriousness from certain situations and the embarrassment/amusement of some of the surrounding characters. (You'll see when you read it what I mean).

Speaking of Jenny's parents. I LOVED THEM! I think they were my favorite characters out of the entire book! Like this scene:

"As soon as Dad opened the door I threw myself into his arms and sobbed...Even bigger than Jason, he plucked me off the ground and carried me inside while calling out to Mom. "Mary! One of the goblins is here and it's leaking!"

I busted up at that one! Sorry if I'm the only one thinking it was hilarious, but seriously one of the best lines from the book! I loved it! He was even funnier than Gran, IMO. 😂

Okay, funny lines aside. I also have to talk about the guys since this is an RH and all. The relationship was so great. I mean Jason (Jenny's brother) is super protective. So, obviously the guys aren't allowed to date his baby sister. I loved how they didn't let their relationship become dictated or swayed by this problem. Sure, they totally had to hide it from Jason, but they didn't try to guilt Jenny or make her feel bad for being with them. They tried to work with her.

They were all so sweet, loving, and kind (yes, even Ryder). They all learned about Jenny's favorite things and worked hard to make her dreams come true. They even defended her against their Professor! I mean, that takes guts. They could have been kicked out. BUT nope, they stood by her and made sure she didn't get bullied by the Professor who took advantage of her relationship with him.

I loved it! Jenny and the guys didn't have to force anything, either. They flowed so well together and I didn't feel like it was wrong or awkward, at all.

I would also like to mention that I loved how Jenny's Dad handled Jason's reaction to finding out she's dating his friends. He was supportive of his daughter and didn't make her feel bad for her relationship. He also gave him such a great talk about why he handled everything wrong. That instead of tricking his sister, he should have been supporting her or protecting her. By his actions, he had basically hurt his sister (again, you have to read this one to really see the whole picture. Trust me, its good).

Overall, 5 freaking stars. Its a book I'll be remembering for a while. I can't wait to read another book from Rebel Bloom. I hope you guys like it too!

Happy Reading!

Fave Lines from the Book:

💜"Come on, asshole. You can stop pretending to work out now. Coach already saw that you weren't doing shit anyway." (Lol that was totally me in gym when I was in H.S.)

💜"I assure you, I don't plan on going into your room or touching your shit. To a degree that makes me hope you never need to be pulled out of there in a fire or something."

"In case of a fire, I doubt you'd be much help anyway. You might be able to lift Axel's ego, but your not lifting anything heavier than that."
(That last part was pure gold lol)

💜"An F? Wow. You're really setting the goal sky high."

💜"I felt more like a senior citizen most days." (SML, LOL)

💜"Thank god you added that please at the end or that might've been rude." (🤣)

Song Recommendations that gave me the Feels:

🎵 Not your Barbie Girl - Ava Max (An ode to her Professor who dumped her).

🎵 I Knew You Were Trouble - Taylor Swift (To the same Professor for being a Prick)

🎵 Beggin on your knees - Victoria Justice (When she got over said Professor)

🎵Flowers - Miley Cyrus

🎵 Girl Crush - Harry Styles

🎶 Before you, I'd only dated self indulgent takers. Who took all of their problems out on me. But you carry my groceries and now I'm always laughing. And I love you, because you have given me no choice but to 🎶

When her ex-boyfriend doesn’t let her move in after she has to let go of her apartment, Jenny Ramsey (h) is homeless, and the only person she knows she can go to is her brother, Jason. Upon arriving at his place, she is a crying mess and won't talk about her ex, but Hudson DuPont, Axel Fitzgerald, and Ryder Tuff (H)– her brother’s friends and roommates- will not take her silence for so long.

─── ・ 。゚☆: THOUGHTS*.☽ .*:☆゚. ───

[Axel]

“This morning’s shower was the best shower I’ve ever taken. Feel free to come back, Jenny.”

WHAT. I mean, good for her, but she was crying over her boyfriend less than 24 hours ago, and now she is fantasizing about her brother’s best friend whom she hasn’t interacted with before. After all, I don’t think she was that heartbroken about her professor's ex-boyfriend. The crazy part is she was with Axel first but then left it at that, then got intimate with Ryder. I was honestly surprised by the pacing of the book and the speed that the dynamics were developing. It was just insane that she didn’t get a moment to process her heartbreak before she was with three men, and it was a secret from her brother. She found herself in another hidden relationship.

[Ryder]

“If you’re going to tell me you don’t want me or you didn’t know it was me and now you want to run away, just shut up. Pull your dick from between my thighs and I’ll go.”

He was an asshole from the beginning, and his excuse was that she tempted him, so he needed to push her away. I am all for finding people attractive, but was it vital for him to be rude and disrespectful because she was so tempting that he couldn’t be civil without acting upon his feelings? Ryder was all over the place. One second he yelled at her to get out of his room, and the next, he was fucking her. Dude, make up your mind. He said he didn’t want anything serious, and suddenly, she came around, and he changed his values. I highly doubt one night with her was enough to change his entire perspective about commitment and dating. Please be so severe.

“Never in my fucking life have I had a woman cut me down so easily. I fucking felt like crying.”

What is he on about? He was the one who told her not to get clingy and act like they had a future. He shut her down before anything happened and then he is all mopey that she told him to pipe down. That was the best part of the book. She told him she was there for good sex and nothing else, okay girl!

[Hudson]

“My heart was still racing when Hudson eased her out of my arms and into his. He pushed her hair out of her face and kissed her forehead before pressing his forehead to hers.”

He was supposed to be the golden retriever of the book with a soft side for her. He was a grump towards everyone else and used his wealth and name to get his way, but he hated doing that. She was the first person to see through him, which made him fall hard. He knew small details about her and was protective of her. He was willing to threaten her ex and call in favors if it meant she could get her old job back and be stable. Hud was a gentle giant.

[All]

It focused on the smut and less on building the emotional aspect of their relationship. The romance did not add up, nor did their love for her. While I think they cared for her, the timeline wasn’t realistic regarding falling for someone that deeply. They wouldn't have given her a second glance if she hadn’t shown up at their door. I prefer emotionally tied characters who get to know each other before the physical aspects are a focal point of the story. While they were protective of her from the start, it was because they saw her as Jason’s little sister, and she was pretty.I think they were physically attracted to her before liking her; I don’t even think they knew much of each other. Did she share that she wanted to be a profiler with the others before the time jump? All Hudson knew was that she liked sour watermelon candy.

Again, I doubt they thought of her before she knocked on their door, and there was no prior affection for her.It escalated quickly when she got out of a relationship, and then she was a secret again after being in a two-year relationship with her professor. There was no need for possessiveness when they knew her for less than a day, and suddenly Axel was inviting her to watch him shower. I’m all for RHs, but I like it when there is a foundation before the relationship that suggests they can all be together long-term. Instead, it felt like a momentary fling, considering she was rediscovering sides to herself and exploring her sexual interests. While they all allowed her to do that, I didn’t quite understand the love within the dynamic they shared. It was a fun read, but I wasn’t emotionally tied to the relationship's longevity or whether they ended up together.

To an extent, Jason had a right to be angry at them, considering she was out of a two-year relationship, toxic nonetheless. Instead, his best friend’s comforting her and giving her space initiated physical affection towards her. While it was something she was into because no one ever made her feel that way, it was relatively quick. The day before, she was severely upset about someone she loved, and now she was considering three guys. It felt like a significant change and something out of the ordinary for Jenny.

¸♡ OVERALL ♡¸.•

Not the best RH, the pacing is off and it’s hardly believable that they all fell in love with her when thet started off with physical intimacy without connecting with her first. They knew nothing about her but they knew she was different. How do they know that when they never talk? I had a lot of issues with them but it was a decent read.

Jenny has always been off limits to her brothers sexy roomies, but things change when she finds herself homeless and in need of somewhere to stay.

Axel, Hudson, and Ryder are 🥵 This was first book by Rebel Bloom, but if all the others are as steamy & fun as this, consider me a fan!

Another Amazing Read

I love this Author and she has knocked it out of the park again. Jenny is a strong and intelligent character who only realises her worth after getting out of a bad relationship and finding Ryder, Axel and Hudson, her brothers best friends. Each characters growth and development throughout the book just keeps adding to an already amazing storyline. If you enjoy reverse harem reads with slightly insane but hilarious extended family members and a wonderful storyline that include drama and suspense then I highly recommend this book!

amazing

As soon as the notification hit my inbox that Rebel Bloom had released a new book I almost lost my mind. I did a happy dance in public and my goodness was it ever worth the wait. I read it in a few hours. I couldn’t put it down. Loved it. Jenny, Ryder, Hudson and Axel were so sweet together made my heart burst.

I’m torn between wishing it was longer so I’d have more to read and being completely satisfied because it was a fantastic read.

Jenny finds herself in her brothers doorstep heartbroken and homeless. In exchange for tutoring, her brother and his bff’s, Ryder, axel and Hudson, agree to let her move in. This is a laugh out loud rom com between Jenny and her brothers friends with a TON of steam. I loved the characters and their personalities, they all really fit together well, including Jenny’s brother, her parents and Axels family.

Okay, there were some damn good lines in here and some conversations had me rolling in laughter because they are absolutely ridiculous, but with their ages it makes sense.
Pacing was mostly alright, but I thought they got to love real quick, especially when they'd never been on a date or hung out much besides sexual encounters.
The writing... great potential here. It is a bit rough, though. Not rough draft rough but... hmmm maybe the version before an ARC? Like, there are a few spelling errors, a few grammatical errors or missing words, and some timeline inconsistencies (Her brother is 2 years older than her, then 1, but he's a senior and she is a junior... maybe because I think her graduating was also brought up). Also, how does she not know anything about football when her dad played it in college and her brother has been playing it through high school and now college?

I had to stop thinking so hard about how things didn't make sense and just went with the vibes. The vibes? The sweetest, the humor, the sass -- all on point. So, 3.5 stars for entertainment value, but rounded down to 3 because I wasn't a fan of the cheesiness of the ending and my eyes rolled during the epilogues.
Will definitely recommend this in the future when people are looking for sweet sports books.

My first book from Rebel Bloom and I really enjoyed this!

The way the relationships fleshed out and unfolded was really well-paced and not at all rushed. It honestly felt like it was 400 pages long but it was only about 260 pages. The way our 4 characters very naturally fell into a relationship felt genuine and uncontrived.

The only complaint I have is with the ex. I felt that the conflict with him was settled abruptly but it didn't feel fully resolved. He should have been fired imo.

There was a very minor misunderstanding act in the end but it was resolved very quickly without being dragged out which I appreciate greatly.

I wish the ending was fleshed out more so we could have seen them live together in a proper and open relationship and be all domestic with each other.

To sum it up, this was a great first read from Rebel Bloom and I can't wait to check out more why-choose romances from her!

cute but bizarre? (we’re rounding up)

This didn’t have nearly enough smut to be as chaotic as it was, ya know? There was a major plot line that kind of just …went away? Without repercussions? And some of these people deserved a bigger butt whooping??

But I read it in a day so who cares ya know?

Meh. I didn't really like Jenny. she was very childish and dramatic. Always running away when feelings came into play. She didn't like big scenes but she would create them herself. Literally screamed at the top of her lungs in the middle of a diner because the guys were fighting and she couldn't get them to stop. It was easy to read but not my favorite.

Smutty goodness. Loved the foursome and brother's bestfriends trope. Simple before bed read. I didn't care for the fake cheating part or the proposal stuff.

REVIEW:

This was a pretty cute one. I do like Rebel Bloom for her lighthearted and fun RH standalones. This is the third one I've read by her and I enjoyed it.

I really loved Jenny and related to her so much. She's a little nerdy, loves to read, and is a bit of an introvert, but can let loose when she wants to. She also has a bit of a kinky center. And I loved it all. I liked her little bit of sass and sarcasm. And I appreciated her struggles with coming out of her shell. She also has a super sweet snuggly side. Loved her.

I also loved the three guys. They are all sweet and fun. Maybe not the most developed characters, but still good guys. I liked Ryder the most, which isn't surprising to me because he's the broodiest and I love me some broody. haha Also I felt like his character was the most well developed of the three.

Together they were fun and sexy too. It's not the steamiest book, but still had some good moments.

Her brother Jason pissed me right off with the picture fiasco. Hard to forgive him for being an asshole. But oh well.

Overall it was a good read. Not super steamy. But very sweet and fun. A good light on the drama RH read.
