U.S. Marshal Jake Timber’s arrival in the small town of Little Bend, Texas, couldn’t have come at a better time. The Sheriff is battling a gang of twelve outlaws led by a madman named Crazy Jack, leaving the townspeople terrified. As if looting and murder aren’t enough, the gang takes over a local silver mine, using their frightening manpower to keep everyone in submission. Without a posse of his own, Timber is prepared to protect the town and face off against the outlaws – alone.
In classic Timber fashion, there seems to be more secrets than there are outlaws. Will Timber be able to navigate through Crazy Jack’s gang and their obstacles to reach the truth? What is the truth? And can he protect the townspeople from more harm?
Another fun Timber tale. Jake Timber is a US Marshal who was on the trail of an outlaw when he rode into a small town. That town had been ransacked by the Crazy Jacks, an outlaw group of demented killers ran by the amoral Crazy Jack. Now, with a bigger prize to hunt for, Timber is going after the dozen or so killers.
Highly recommended, a fun, fast-paced tale that is a perfect classic shoot'em up western.
We don’t know what happened to Jeff Collins, and the corrupt assayer—where the silver went and where the money came from. The sheriff was not even involved that much in the story so was he good or not? Is he going to solve and take care of the assayer and Jeff Collins, which were both corrupt in the silver mining business? Funny to that in some of these stories Timber ‘s horse is a big bay, then sometimes he is a big chestnut. The stories are all good and worth reading. In some books he thinks he killed Romeo Platt and in others he’s still alive seeking to kill Timber. Then he is ignored for several books and Timber acts like he’s dead. I’m confused. And then there’s a silly thing that the author never talks about him changing his clothing. Does he just keep brushing the dust off his buckskins? Does he only have one pair? We never read he gets a haircut either. We know he takes baths occasionally but it seems he puts his buckskins back on. I know this is silly, but I wish his stories were a little more complete and shared more details. He is a big man and about 45 with green eyes—that’s all I know. Oh yeah he has a million scars from knife wounds and being shot and a little bull whipping!
Timber is still traveling the west, looking for wanted men. He arrives at a small town to find a gang of outlaws has robbed the bank, the store, and killed everyone in the saloon. The gang has also taken over a silver mine. All ends well.
A great western story by Bob Hanlon. It was well written and filled with action. Definitely hard to put down. Timber has to clean up a gang of murderers and thieves who have taken over a silver mine. You'd regret not reading this tale. I would highly recommend it!
I loved the tenacity of the marshal on the trail of the outlaws. Reminds me of the Texas rangers. I recommend this book to all who love good western readings. Because the marshal always gets the criminals I have to give it a five star rating.
