As Mr. Daniel says in the book, this is not a book for new fly fishers.

With all these new nymphing techniques, it's a wonder I was able to catch any fish nymphing when I started out back in the 80s. Heck, I remember Joe Humphries giving a demonstration of his new tuck cast for nymphing.

Here's my background, I grew up in Boiling Springs and fished the Yellow Breeches, LeTort, Falling Spring and the Big Spring on a regular basis. I learned fly tying at the CVTU classes held at the Carlisle Fish and Game, Vince Marinaro showed me how to twist the dubbing for a cress bug.

The Nymph Fishing Section: Now, I'll never use a bobber to fish nor color my leader so I can see it better. So the whole Euro Nymphing with 15 foot leaders is more like bait fishing than fly fishing. Takes me back to using a cane pole to catch bluegills on farm ponds.

If you never tried these tight line euro nymphing techniques, this book is the master class on the subject. If your still not catching fish after reading it once, read it again because you missed something.

The Dry Fly section is really good as is the section on streamer fishing. Fly selection and techniques are well covered and deserve a thorough reading.

Excellent photographs, though he never mentions the names of the water he is fishing.

Well worth your time to read during the cold days of winter when you'd rather be inside than swinging streamers on your favorite water. You should be outside, you can read it after dinner while you warm your feet by the fire.
