Well……..
I’m a bit confused because there was a lot going on here. I feel like information was misplaced a few times or just didn’t add up to the actual storyline. I wrote notes because a few things had me scratching my head.
We started off with a Chi getting kicked out of college, but for an unknown reasons fast forward we find out why. Now in my opinion, it’s a little weird once we found out the reason based off how she reacted she acted when it happened. She’s low key in a relationship that she really doesn’t want .
Her stepsister has evil misplaced emotions and energy. The stepmother is of course evil and a cheater .
Rylo is giving knock off kingpin with deep trauma issues.
Baron is an obsessive boyfriend, cheater , and a hypocrite. He gives real unhinged vibes.
Every SINGLE character was BIG TIME delusional as fu*k !

I wanted to get into this but...
Chi needed help and all the out burst got old quick...she is suffering from a trauma but holding it in is not helping...
The whole evil/jealous sister mom was also overdone because she didn't pick who her father was...
This had a lot of moving parts that didn't mesh... not sure if I will read book 2

Must Read
I understand why Chicago is very guarded. Having a mother who didn't give a damn, a father who overlooked her stepmother and step sister mistreating her, being raped in College and expelled because she stab the person trying to protect herself, and being teased about her weight. That is a lot of trauma to deal with and it lead into her adulthood. Baron lowkey tried to control Chicago by lying about fixing her car because he didn't want her to work and he want her to be be solely dependent on him. Which is something Chicago isn't used to. She's used to making her own money. While he's trying to control her. He should've been keeping his penis in his pants and not running around creeping with Taina as well as putting his little brother Byron out of their apartment. I knew Byron was going to bring trouble their way. Tracy is a piss poor excuse of a stepmother. I truly believe that she was behind Chicago getting kicked out of College too. I don't think the incident with Sterling was the only reason Chicago lost her scholarship. Tracy has been up to no good for year's. Hopefully Chicago father Chauncey get out of prison and see what his wife and stepdaughter been up to. Especially since Tracy have plans to cause harm to Chicago because she don't want Chauncey to find out about her dirt. Arrington is truly delusional. She's been screwing Rylo for four year's and think she really has a place in his life and heart. While she's busy hating on Chicago. She need to tuck her tail and leave Rylo alone because he do not see her as girlfriend or wife material. Arrington ain't nothing but a cum bucket. Rylo should've listened to Alex when she told him not to do business with Sterling. Rylo know his sister wouldn't steer him wrong but still went against Alex until he met Chicago and learned about Sterling background that was hidden. He also better be careful cutting Arrington off because she's conniving and vindictive. Seeing that video of him and Chicago have Arrington plotting and I don't see nothing good coming from it. The way this ended. Trouble showed up at Baron and Chicago front door because of his little brother Byron but trouble was coming anyway because of Chicago two piecing Sterling. Sterling still have ill feelings toward Chicago for what happened back in College even though it was his fault and I believe Tracy is behind Sterling knowing where Chicago live.

Omg! Excellent Read
This book was on point! You have Chicago Parker better known as Chi. Chi’s life hasn’t been easy. Her father is in prison being involved in the street life, and her mother is deceased. Chi was working on her degree but that all changed when she was expelled for retaliating against Sterling, who sexually assaulted her.
Life still hit her hard even after that with her dealing with panic attacks due to the assault she suffered, then being fired from her job, to finding out her man isn’t being faithful and dealing with her spiteful and very much irritating stepsister, Arrington.
Arrington thinks she’s God’s gift to the world and looks down upon Chi because she is a plus sized woman and isn’t as well off as she has been her entire life.
Arrington is very delusional as well bc she has fabricated being in a relationship with Ryan Lopez, aka Rylo. Rylo is a very handsome and very well off man who started in the streets but elevated his way to the top and is now a millionaire. He is often cold and keeps his distance from women bc he too has suffered a huge loss which has caused him major guilt, that loss being of his brother Brandon. But when he and chi crosses paths he feels differently about her bc he can relate to her trauma.
Then we have Baron and Bryon, the brothers. Baron tries to get his 19 year old brother on the right track and out of that street life but that isn’t happening whatsoever. Besides that, Baron bumps into his ex, Taina and the feelings are still there for them both.
Byron’s involvement in the streets soon brings danger to his big bro and Chi, when he disappears with a bag full of money that belongs to Romeo, a major hitta on the streets. Byron’s mess ends up putting both Baron and Chi’s lives in jeopardy and puts her face to face once again with the creep Sterling.
I can’t wait for part 2! The plot and characters were so good and I am so ready for part 2. Excellent and fun read. 10/10!

With Family Like This Who Needs Enemies
Chi was well into her third year at her dream school when it all came crashing down. On top of that she loses her mother and was living with her dad Chauncy stepmom Tracy & stepsister Arrington aka The Devil. Tracy & Arrington we’re done really good actors bc whenever Chauncy was around Chi was treated with noting but respect. The minute he left they were back to being witches. Arrington always harbored a hate for Chi bc she was/is Chauncey’s biological child. Getting kicked out of her dream school forced Chi to move back home then really put her big girl panties on. Her boyfriend Baron owns his own auto body shop so when she laid off due to her car not working she thinks I’ll just be out of work for a week or two, nope. That week or two turns into two months. Chi only has one person in the world who she trusts more than anything her cousin Royce. A couple of years have passed and Chi finally confronts who she knows is responsible for her getting put out of school. Lil does this person know Chi is very much onto them & their evil vindictive scandalous ways. Rylo a street man turned millionaire is fighting demons everyday with the passing of his brother while still maintaining his work and working relationship with his sister Alex. Baron runs into an ex and things kind of escalate but what will he do next? His brother Byron is basically the bad seed his parents have given up on in every sense that may count. Arrington is so jealous of Chi she tries to ruin her but it doesn’t work & now she has an even bigger problem “her man” & I use the term very loosely has taken an interest in her stepsister. Tracy’s harboring a secret that only Chi knows & my girl definitely uses it to her advantage. That cliffhanger was wild as hell bc I was hoping it didn’t come to that all. You did your thang boo, I can’t wait to read part 2. Need a new read by Tasha Mack look no further bc this will keep you captivated from the first page to the last.

Tasha Mack came out the gate swinging with this one 🔥
Where do I start there are so many twists and turns in this story and I am loving every minute of it.
Chi is a hot head and tends to resort to violence in most cases because of the pent up anger she has about what happened to her in college. I can understand because it was traumatic for her but feel as if counseling would help calm her demeanor.
Baron claims he loves Chi but steps out on their relationship unbeknownst to her and to top that off he is now trying to keep her dependent on him when that’s the last thing she wants and will accept from him. His brother Byron has placed both him and Chi in a sticky situation which really sucks because Baron only wanted to help his brother get on the right path.
Royce is Chi’s ride or die cousin who has her back every step of the way. I love how they both go hard for each other.
Arrington and Tracy are too trifling, delusional and jealous individuals I hate how they try to treat Chi and I can’t wait until they are both exposed. I bet money that Tracy was the reason behind everything that happened to Chi in college and when Chi finds out I hope she walks the dog with her a$&.
Last but not least we have Rylo mister BDE he met Chi in an unconventional way but has definitely become intrigued by her and I can’t wait until they hookup it will be a good dose of reality for Arrington’s delusional a$& since she is lying about her relationship with him.
That ending was not what I was expecting but hopefully Chi and Baron make it out okay but we will see in the next installment.

Her stepmother Tracey and her daughter Arlington are out to get her. Chi father is in prison her mother Charae died of a drug overdosed. The only one in her corner is her cousin Royce and her father. She meets Rylo with his rude arrogant and refuse to let anyone get close to him. Rylo has been thru so much pain and trials and tribulations in his life also. Alex is Rylo baby sister they are extremely close and have each other back. Chi and her boyfriend have their ups and down he wants to control her. But Chi is a independent and a free sprirt . She has come face to face with her rapist from her past and had a full fledge panic attacks. She pregnant and she found out Baron is cheating on her. Now her and Baron are in a life are death suitation because of his brother Bryon who is young and putting his brother and other people in his mess. The saying what a small world is so true, it seems like so many characters were connected in one way or another. Chicago was so funny with an attitude and stubborn, definitely didn't take no mess but some of her ways made me dislike her. Royce tried too much for me, she tried to play peacemaker to everything and situations. Sterling deserves than whopping and more. Rylo should've listened to Alex when she warned him about Sterling. Tracy and Arrington got on my last nerves and they are so delusional, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. I just want Rylo and Chi to get together bcuz Baron ain't the one for her. Byron done caused people to be in a messy situation and he went ghost. The ending left so many questions unanswered, part 2 asap!

Chi can’t catch a break if it’s not one thing it’s another. All them in tied together some kinda way. I wish Chi would’ve left Baron when he started trying to control her and she would’ve never got caught up in Byron shit. He just wanna easy lick and don’t wanna work for nothing. His parent was right and now it’s almost cost Chi and Baron her life. Sterling have it out for anyway so he’s enjoying it. I gotta feeling Rylo finna shut all that down with the quickness. Royce gone pillow talk to Alex about the situation and that’s all it’s gone take for them and the cartel to take the mayor and everyone else down involved. I can’t wait for part 2 things are about to get interesting.

OMG poor Chi she has had it hard all her life from her step mother and sister, her rapist, and now her boyfriend and his brother when will she catch a break. Baron is out doing his thing all while trying to keep Chi down from being the independent woman she's always been, then that brother of his Bryon is up to no good but he's not worried because his big brother always had his back.
I wish Chi would have opened up a little with Rylo I feel he's going to be the one to finally help her heal as she help him heal from their tormented past. Sterling showing up is going to cause things to become even worse I pray someone gets to them in time can't wait to read part 2.

Five Star Read
Ok Tasha Mack, I see you boo!!! This was a great read. Chi just can't catch a break. Now here comes the man that ruined her life to do even more damage. I really hope Rylo followed her so he can save her cause her "man" Baron sure can't. I thought Baron was this stand up guy but he just like the rest of the lames with their hidden insecurities. From the beginning Chi was going through it getting put out of school. I understood Baron wants to take care of her but instead he pushing her away not letting her make her own money do things her own I thought he was good for her till he started messing around with his ex. Arrington is annoying Rylo definitely doesn’t want he she is delusional. I see Rylo helping or being there for Chi I can’t wait for part 2. Great read.

Man talking about a CLIFFHANGER!!! Sterling's Romeo??? And shi having panic attacks and Byron messed around and done something he can't fix. The momma Teresa know she done messes up now. I wouldn't be surprised if Teresa and the dean conspired together to make sure shi get kicked out of school. Alex and Royce they gon be ok. decent plot but all over the place
This book was an all over the place. I continued reading because of the main storyline but the author kept adding additional characters and side plots that were forced in. It was as if she was just making up the book as she went. The rape piece and it being the same guy that Rylo was doing business with AND the same guy making Byron hold money was just ridiculous.

Tasha Mack did not come to play….This book had my attention from start to finish. Chi got so much going on it’s crazy. She should have stayed gone cause now she caught up in her brother in law mess. Baron wrong as hell for tryna keep Chi locked down like that and he wonder why he got problems. Mannnnn Byron wth u into that they coming for you and of all people Sterling🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️. Tracey and Arrington is trifling as hell! ...this was a great read with great charter development from the two main characters chi/rylo . I'm glad the author gave background as to why chi and rylo have the attitude that they do have and it's understandable. This book was captivating from the start. Great job . On to part 2 now 👏🏿👏🏿
