Marta Perry is a Pennsylvania-based author of over 35 novels, many of them inspirational romances. She uses her rural Pennsylvania life and her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage in writing her books, especially in her Pleasant Valley Amish series for Berkley Books and her new Amish-set suspense series for HQN Books.
Marta and her husband live in a centuries-old farmhouse in a quiet central Pennsylvania valley. They have three grown children and six beautiful grandchildren, and when she's not busy writing her next book, she's usually trying to keep up with her gardening, baking for church events, or visiting those beautiful grandkids.
Marta Perry has good characterization skills and makes you like her characters, but when you look at the facts, the plot is still that a couple got divorced and the girl didn't tell the guy she was pregnant or that he had a son.
We're never told how Henry Carmichel finds out or suspects and sends someone to find out. We do know that he wanted to find a way to distract Tyler and he probably knew that Tyler had once been married to Miranda--perhaps it stemmed from that and finding out about Sammy (who's now 8) was just a bonus.
Miranda and her family seem to have raised Sammy well. I like the idea of traditions--even though we should also be open to modifying those traditions too. I'm glad Tyler saw his way past his usual unforgiveness to see that his brother too could learn from past mistakes and grow. The story of the dolphin is interesting, but I almost wonder if the dolphin has become a sort of idol.
What some people do to cause pain and heartache others can see the true meaning behind it. That's what happened to Miranda and Tyler. A surprise picture is received anonymously which pulls Tyler away from his company. He's finding being gone a new way to life, but digging in and seeing who sent the picture turns the tables on his new life. Will him and Miranda survive it again?
This is a story of second chances between a previously married couple. There are difficulties in trusting each other, in blending a son into their relationship, and learning to put each other's welfare first. Marta Perry is one of my favorite Love Inspired authors.
This book "Promise Forever" (The Caldwell Kin Series #4) (Love Inspired #209) is a fairy tale book. The creative characters, Georgia island setting, and a touch of reality in the ending will encourage readers to search out more stories from this series. copy right 2003 251 pages
Promise Forever is a great example of why I love the Love Inspired line of books. Its also a reason why I count Marta Perry as one of the authors that I buy without question.
Its really hard to write a romance novel without sex, while creating a story that's believable to the readers. Marta does this well and this story is no exception.
The heroine is "Island Girl," Miranda Caldwell who had a brief marriage to "richy" Tyler Winchester when she was eighteen. The marriage ended and Miranda had a child she didn't tell Ty about. Eight years late a photo ends up in Ty's hand with "your son" written on the back.
Its what happens when Ty ends up back on the island that makes the book so wonderful. Through Miranda, Ty learns to love and trust and above all other things, he learns to be a father to Sammy. He even realizes that he never lost his love for Miranda and that discovery really makes this story special.
The other thing that I loved about Promise Forever was the story of the missing dolphin and how a near tragedy brought it back to the family.
I like that faith plays a part in the book without centering on a religion. The other thing about this line is that anyone can read them without there being a fear that it will be too smutty.
Wow, honestly great! Really great backstory, good characters, and a good ending!!! I really appreciate how the author let most of this book be about the main 3 characters (Miranda, Tyler, Sammy) interacting. Most authors fill their stories with useless conversations between one main character and a bunch of extra side characters! That was cool.
Tyler was a perfect guy and he was so fun to read about. His struggles were written so realistically, so that was a breath of fresh air.
Miranda did what she thought was right and her scars from the past were realistic, too. This book was just really good and it was such a fun, smooth read. The ending was satisfying, too. A+!
The last installment of the Caldwell Kin series. Christian romance story. I really like the author Marta Perry. She makes the romances seem real without sex scenes. I'd been looking for this one for a while so that I could finish the series.
