This is a gorgeous and detailed book capturing the beauty and vibrancy of decor in India. The author explains the ancient system of vastu shatra, decorating with the 5 elements (earth, air, fire, water, space) and gives examples of how to incorporate this into design. Details of Indian style from colour to architecture to accessories are explained in detail and accompanied by beautiful photographs to inspire your decor.
Wonderful book with beautiful photography. Everything you need to give your home a taste of India. Discusses the traditions and mythology related to homes in India, and describes the styles and traditions of all the different regions of the country. A little disorganized, some things were mentioned in the text but there were no photographs of them. But still a great book.
I borrowed this book from the library twice, and then bought my own copy. Lovely descriptions that explained the thought behind the design aesthetic- I think I would have liked to see a few more examples of everyday homes, not just the opulent and wealthy; I feel like the gorgeousness of this culture is only attainable if you have gobs of money.
