This book could have stood a few more rounds of editing--you'll notice a handful of typos and come across the occasional sentence that reads a bit rough. But what it lacks in literary elegance it more than makes up for in content.
We follow the stories of three women who undergo financial challenges, abuse, heartbreak, loss, hurt and worse until they finally give their lives to God. We also meet a missionary in Taiwan who takes on the challenge of reaching the working class. While the middle- to high-class population of Taiwan is about 10% Christian, the working class is only 1%. Most Christians have difficulty reaching this sector, but this book inspired me to challenge that norm personally and in others I know.
This book is an absolute MUST-READ for any Christian in Taiwan, but I would suggest, for anyone. Eye-opening and inspiring.

This book was very intense. It is the true stories of three women in Taiwan who lived very sad, but familiar lives. I recognized my own life in parts of theirs and the lives of other people. I had to read the book quickly because the first part of the book (more than the first half) was depressing. Which is actually what makes the second part of the book so powerful - to experience God's grace and love and patience with these three women makes the whole journey worth it.

Great book, which although difficult to read at times because of the dark things that happen in peoples' lives, shares why there is still a need for workers here in Taiwan.

It was a little confusing with the 3 women's stories intermingled in the first half of the book and the changing POVs. It was a little hard to keep the stories straight. Maybe tell each story separate and merge them towards the end when they start to cross paths. That being said, it was a hard to put down book. The stories of these women were sad but very interesting. They had gone through so much and made some choices as a result of all that that led them down some pretty dark paths. It was also interesting learning about the Taiwanese culture. I loved that these women found faith in God and were able to be set free from their pasts.

This is current abuse. You would think it would be a long time ago but it still goes on.
