In a world of darkness and desire, the heist of the century is just the beginning.
Cole sets my soul ablaze with his warmth and passion. But it's Alastor, his dark and irresistible ex-lover, who awakens a forbidden longing within me. Alastor wants me too, and his relentless pursuit ignites a dangerous flame that I can't resist. I despise him, and yet, with every stolen touch, my resolve weakens, and the line between hate and desire blurs. I fear the depths of my own desires, afraid of the path they might lead me down.
More complications arise when Theo enters the picture. Alastor's right-hand man, a wolf shifter and brilliant hacker, he stirs something within me. His easygoing manner and sweet humour only add to the already tangled web of emotions. As the lines blur between friendship and something more, I find myself torn between the familiar comfort of Cole and the dangerous allure of Alastor and Theo.
Amidst this emotional turmoil, we embark on a daring plan—a high-stakes heist set amidst the glitz and glamour of Sin City. The stakes are higher than ever as I confront my own desires, face the shadows of my past, and make choices that will not only shape our mission but also the course of my heart.
Within the neon-lit streets of Las Vegas, I unravel the truth about my captive past, haunted by a dark power that threatens to consume us all. Hellions roam the streets, people vanish without a trace, and sinister forces awaken, casting a menacing shadow over Sin City. As time runs out and danger lurks at every corner, will I succumb to my deepest desires?
Can I untangle the mysteries that have plagued me for so long? In a world where love ignites, secrets unravel, and the cost of passion may be higher than I ever imagined, I must trust my instincts and navigate the treacherous game of power, love, and deception.
This is an urban fantasy steamy romance where the heroine does not have to choose just one love interest. There are dark themes in the book, so please check the triggers in the front of the book before reading.
Great Continuation! The series is getting better and better! Filled with action, a bit of adventure, humor and steam! This book held my attention the whole time. We see a lot of growth in each of our characters, especially Alastor. We also get a few major revelations, some that could definitely change things. Maybe a few more possible love interests as well. While we did get answers, I think we now have a new list of questions. I can't wait to find out what happens in book 3, especially after the cliffhanger ending!!! I loved it!!
Shadows Rising is the follow-up to Elizabeth Blackthorne Demon's Song. This book was intense, with complicated relationships, a fair amount of danger, and a couple of mysteries, what a read.
Raven is different in this book, she is more sure of herself and is a part of the group instead of feeling like a stray, using her skills to help. Sure she still has amnesia but her emotions have leveled out, her and she has formed bonds with people. She and Cole are in a good place, things are getting better with Alastor, and something is brewing between her and Theo.
This harem is so frustrating, it's two steps forward, and one step back with them. Well with Cole and Alastor anyway, Theo has been great from the beginning. Theo is smart, funny (if a little corny), playful, and a touch bashful when it comes to Raven. However Alastor and Cole are going back and forth, and just when things get straightened out with one of them the other becomes an a-hole. At the start of this Alastor lacks emotional intelligence but he's finally figured his crap out when it comes to all his relationships. I should mention there's a new guy, Dae, I have no idea what's going on there and I'm not sure it's one-hundred percent good but who knows.
The plot was good, it's a casino heist. Alastor is still after the scroll and has curated his crew to pull off the heist. There's planning, anticipation, tension, and danger, it was great. Reminded me a little of the Oceans 11 movie. But more than that was going on, they are finding clues to Raven's past, she's having flashbacks, and a shocking discovery is made. By the end of this, there were so many shocking reveals, it changed the game. I can't wait to see where the story goes now that the information is out there.
I ran the gambit with Shadows Rising. My feelings were all over the place, shock, validation, anger, happiness, and more. The story answered a few questions but even more questions have popped up. Then there was the ending, ugh, the last several chapters were not only surprising but heartbreaking as well. I'm gonna agonize over that cliffhanger until the next book. Here's to hoping that things get better in the third book, Shattered Souls.
This book follows straight after Demon's Song. Where Cole has finished his "Relationship" with Alastor because of the way he was treating him. They had a Dom/Sub relationship but with zero care which Cole could no longer take. Now Cole and Raven are together and even though he won't admit it Alastor is extremely jealous. As much as he tries to convince himself he hates Raven he can't stop thinking about her and finds her sexually attractive. Alastor is still trying to convince himself Cole is going through a faze with Raven and can't truly love her. But it's clear to see that Cole and Raven are smitten. But they both also feel a huge pull towards Alastor and Raven feels hate sometimes but then wants his body. Will the three of them ever find a balance that makes them all happy. On top Theo the commenter Wiz is watching Raven more when they're all together and is also smitten by her together they flirt and Raven likes him as well but doesn't want to ruin things with Cole. Will anything be able to happen there. On tip of this they are getting closer to the heist for the scrolls meeting most days to make sure the plan is fool proof. Will they succeed? Is Raven ever going to find out who she is and if she does with everything remain as it is. I loved this book just as much as Demon's Song if not better as all the characters are established. This book has it all love plenty of heat and spice with a trip to Sinners. But as quick as this is found it can turn to heartbreak and hate. This book is a must read for everyone that's read the first book and if you haven't read that first then this and you won't be sorry. I just wish I could read the third book now instead of waiting till later on this year. Thank you Elizabeth for your great imagination and skill in Writing. I got this book as an ARC and I am leaving an honest voluntary review.
I knew it! I had a feeling and no one even thought it to be a possibility. It hurt to hear Cole treat her like that. The female character forgives to easy, way to easily. Barely even a blip on her mind, it just doesn’t feel natural or flow well. Any person would feel some kind of hurt and react in a way that shows they are hurting. This is why I rated it 3 stars. Additionally, Cole is a hypocrite. Saying not all demons are bad, but he’s convinced all Angels are bad even knowing Raven. As soon as he finds out she’s an angel, his prejudice comes out and breaks her heart with this vitriolic words. The story and plot is great! It kept me interested, it moved along nicely. Tons of MM action for those that like reading that. I didn’t find there to be much non consensual sexual touching like we read in the first book. There was sexual degradation (I think that’s the word) where the male character like calling the female his little whore. There was barely any discussion of how Alistair took her virginity, no apology. Nothing. I’m interested in reading more about this plot and who she is but I just don’t feel the characters behave naturally in a romantic sense which disconnected me from the story.

This book follows on from book 1 demon song and their planning of the heist, to get the scroll back from Ashmodeius. This is where we really see the relationships between Raven, Cole, Theo and Alastor take shape and evolve. And we see some welcome changes from demanding Alastor. We find out more about the side characters, and their backgrounds. Raven starts getting fragments of memory, and the end of this book, there is a twist you don't expect when she displays some impressive new talents. I literally binged this book from beginning to end because Elizabeth's writing style is so easy to follow. You can relate to the emotions of the characters in the book and what they are going through. I am anticipating the release of the third book, because it left me on a cliff hanger. And it left me asking more questions about ravens journey. Will her love for her men, shape her decisions, or will what she is and her past experiences take her on an entirely different path away from the boys? Cannot wait to find out.
Oh my gosh! I love the continuation of this series. It's filled with so much and we pick up right where Demon's Song left off.
I was honestly shocked by how much character growth was within this book for the characters. I know that I wanted Alastor to have the most growth, but it was really great to see Raven's change as well. Even though she is suffering from amnesia, she has formed bonds with people and uses the skills she has to help and more. I liked seeing her relationship with Cole blossom and grow and I can't wait to see what happens when Theo is added to the mix. We have more possible love interests but you've got to read to see who I'm talking about. I wish Cole & Alastor could finally figure their stuff out, It's very push and pull and I wanna smack both of them LOL.
The plot is still great, and the storyline from book one has continued and they're still working on finding out more about Raven's past. I am so intrigued by the twists and turns that we get closer to the end. I am ready for the next book after that cliffhanger!
August 18, 2023 This book better than Book 1. There are lots of hidden clues hidden that keep you questioning what is going on but we finally get revelations that answer some old questions.
I was impressed with how much character growth there was, especially with Alastaor. Raven’ memories continue to unlock but they are still broken and do do not always make any sense. She is however able to piecing things together.
This book is filled with action, humor, plans to pull off a heist and pure chaos.
Truths were learned and heartache accompanies but Raven is a fighter. She continues to learn about who she is and what she wants and expects in her life. She might have found another love interest who accepts her for who she is completely and without question.
Can a series get better with the second book? It often is not but here I'd like to say it really is! It's got times where you'll laugh out loud, it has action and adventure to keep you entertained. Also new characters to love and maybe to grow the harem? Who will say? I love the style of writing, it has me enthralled and my favorite part? Well that I am guessing as to what happens next! This author makes you question your sanity with it that yes you get answers but a bookload of questions and I can't wait for more!
Absolutely loved this book. This is book 2 of this series and I am so NOT disappointed!!! I loved this story!!! Picks up right where we left off from book 1. Loved reading about these characters. Especially Raven. I so want to read more about her. Storyline itself kept me me hooked. I enjoyed the first book but this one really kept me from start to finish. I so need the next book. I’m hooked on this series. Definitely recommend.
Holy plot twist Batman! This book grips you and doesn’t let go. I have so many more questions that I need answered. Love the connection she is building with a certain shifter and the bond between our favorite broody hound and a submissive demon. Book three can’t come soon enough. Also…what’s up with Carlisle and that basement…Well done Elizabeth, you have me on the edge of my seat!
Really enjoyed this book. Second in the series so far. First half of the book, I was kind of feeling meh. But the second half was great. And the surprises along the way! Can't wait for the next book to come out. Elizabeth Blackthorne is awesome.
OMG!! That ending! I wasn't expecting that at all. I am definitely looking forward to the next book. Theo!! My heart!! So many plot twist, so many surprises and bomb drops as we finally get the truth about Raven's identity. I don't want to give too much away but you don't want to miss this book.
There is a lot of character growth in this second book in the Requiem of the Fallen series. There is great twists and revelations. It had a good combination of humor, steam and adventure. I can wait to read the future development to the harem.
BK2 continues right where bk1 ends. The characters are amazing. The give and take between them keeps you wanting more from them. Some but not all of the questions are answered. That cliffhanger just makes you want more. I can't wait for bk3 to get here.
Shadows Rising is the second book in the series and follows on from Demon’s Song. The book is intense throughout and kept you reading from beginning to end. There is danger and passion around every corner. We meet Theo who is a wolf shifter and he is hilarious and has some amazing jokes throughout. The casino heist reminds me of Oceans 11 and the gang are trying to find the scroll so the plot is amazing. We have fated mates and some questions have been answered but that ending has left me with more questions especially with that cliffhanger.
I enjoyed this book better than Book 1. There were so many Easter eggs hidden in the gem but also a lot of revelations.
There was a lot of character growth. Raven is slowly getting her memories back but they are still disheveled and doesn't make any sense, she's steadily piecing things together. The biggest growth was in Alastor's character. Once he came to terms of who Raven is to him, he began to shift his opinions and judgement of her.
This book was pack with action, humor, strategic plans to complete a heist and of course total and utter chaos.
Truths were revealed and hearts are broken but Raven is a rider. Learning more about who she is and what she wants in life she continues to charm others and may have found another love interest who accepts her for who she is completely. Ending on a Cliffhanger Book 3 can't get here fast enough.
As you can imagine this is the second book of the series and continues after Demon’s Song. This story answers a lot of question that you had from the first book but then gives you even more questions lol. It unveils some new potential outcomes with the story line and plot. The character development is on point and I can’t wait to see how they end up when this is done. I can’t wait for book 3.
