She was the one that got away. He was her first love.
Maybe for Brooklyn and Harlem, the second time around can be the charm. Or will it be an even bigger disaster than the first time love struck? The wounds they inflicted on one another were deep and didn’t exactly heal without leaving scars. Now, they have a chance to explore love on their own terms. However, new terms mean new conditions.
Linking up with an old flame on an island getaway can be the cure that Brooklyn and Harlem need, but there’s always a possibility that old tempers will flare, ripping the band-aid off those wounds that never properly healed. Only, with the island sun and beautiful beaches as their backdrop, all faith might not be lost, and there’s a chance for love to be restored.
First off, let me just say I love me some Mary. I enjoyed the updates on her and Sinful K and their bad kids. Okay, so I enjoyed reading Brooklyn and Harlems story. I didn't think I would like him at first. He was way too forgiving when it came to his Aunt.
Harlem was Brooklyn's high school sweetheart. One day he just up and disappeared with her never seeing him again. While on vacation she runs into him and was suddenly filled with anger. He was still holding on to how she left him and broke his heart. Harlem's aunt played a big part in their separation. She never felt Brooklyn was good enough for him and told him lies to make him move on. Once they cleared things up they started going out and making up for lost time. There were a few barriers they had to overcome. Harlem's daughter's mom who didn't want to get go of what was no more and Brooklyn abusive baby dad who was in jail but got released. They were still able to make things work and push through all of it. I didn't want the story to end. I could read about them forever! My girl was Mary. She was hilarious with her religious self. That prayer cloth and holy oil lol.
Brooklyn wasn't open to love after the way Tone abused her in front of their kids. Brooklyn was with Harlem before all his fame and fortune. Aunt Pamela is just mess and miserable, she lied to Harlem about Brooklyn scared he going about her, but how could he? She took him in when didn't nobody wanted him. He courted Brooklyn to show real men didn't have to hit women. Gave her anything her heart desired. He messed up when didn't didn't tell her the baby mama was there. He told Rayna the reason they couldn't be together his heart belongs to someone else. Brooklyn kids loves him and his daughter loves Brooklyn and now they are getting ready to have their own baby. This will be their fourth child. Mary is still something else with her oil and prayer cloth and her bad son's.
Brooklyn and Harlem finding love after his auntie lies was meant to be auntie and Rayna setup back fired Harlem came in and stepped up all the girls hit it off I love Mary and sincere connection were able to show up love them Mary crying about Sincer about to put that belt to work was funny and they tried to pull that we don’t get whooping with Brooklyn telling her she just needs a prayer cloth and oil like their mama and she hurry up and let them know she was team belt. Harlem was fighting all brick walls he wanted his love back and they found their way to each other I loved the happy ending for the lies And circumstances that kept them apart they deserved each other
I really enjoyed this book and loved the update with Mary and Sinful. Auntie Pamala should’ve got more than that little snap she got maybe a slap would’ve made me feel better 😂. Rayna was a mess but I’m glad she got a man and happy that Tone is gone he had good behavior cause he can’t fight a man back. Harlem saw her and wasn’t letting up he knew what he wanted and stayed on her neck 🥰😂. I’m too happy for Brooklyn and her life being so much better and just think all this came about cause Mary throwing oil on her now husband got them locked up together.
Kendra, good read. Thank you for allowing Brooklyn to have some peace in her life. Looking at Brooklyn one would never know her story. Thank you for showing her vulnerability. Can I tell you how much I loved the blending of their souls. Harlem was such a grown man, I loved him. He look the time to understand the assignment and to make it work for all parties involved. The trust that Brooklyn allowed Harlem to have was so amazing. Just a good read.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
3.5 stars. This was cute! I wish it was longer to get more fleshed out scenes and the MMC applying more pressure. I really feel he got off easy for the way he handled things and that aunt of his needed to get her ass told off a little more. I always love me a good second chance romance and the vibes was here. Add in them children and i was locked it. The ex storyline should’ve been more man. He needed a real man to step to him and put the paws on him since he so handsy with women. I want more from this couple
Brooklyn has been through a lot since her first love left her broken-hearted as a teenager. She has survived an abusive relationship and is raising twin daughters. When on vacation she runs into her first love, the meeting was not pleasant and Brooklyn was left in tears. Harlem determined to not let the love of his life get away, he is determined to make her his for a lifetime!
I’m loving the happiness and purity of how Brooklyn and Harlem reconnected. They ended on a misunderstanding and the lie/greed of his aunt. Brooklyn ended up suffering but finally gaining her strength back. All the feelings they both thought they buried came back full force. I’m glad they worked through everything down to the girls loving each other. Great read !
I so love how Harlem wasn’t taking no for an answer. In the beginning Paradise was pissing me off with her attitude for something that happened 16years before the reconnect. I was so happy when Harlem wouldn’t stop to get the woman of his dreams. I honestly thought Tone was going to try and harm Paradise. So glad he wasn’t able to.. I’m not going to spoil it. But this was a great love/reconnect story.
This standalone is lit 🔥. I fell in love with some new babies. I'm glad the twins' dad got his karma. I'm glad Harlem did not give up on coming after his love that still had his heart, Brooklyn. This is my first time reading one of ur books and I'm looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read.
After being separate for sixteen long years, Brooklyn runs into her first love Harlem at a resort on Paradise Island. Brooklyn is still in her feelings at how things ended with Harlem. Harlem is only interested in explaining his side of the story & making things right between him & Brooklyn.
Brooklyn gave Harlem a run for his money. She was dodging him everytime he was around her. Harlem didn't stop fighting for his first girlfriend, he still loved her was was determined to get her back. Harlem made Brooklyn and her girls feel safe and loved. This was a sweet read.
This was an awesome read from beginning to end. I love stories of second chances. No matter what the situation is never give up on what you want and love. Go after it no matter if it's the second or a third chance. Keep striving to the top and give it all you got. There is no half stepping. Love this book. ReneeG
I knew Harlem was going to do everything in his power to win Brooklyn back. They both deserved happiness, especially Brooklyn. She went through a lot with her ex. God sure looked out for her. Now, she is happily married and expecting a child with her first love. Great Read!
It's always a bad body built - bald headed mammie that thinks her demon seed is an angel. Tone's mammie knew that her son wasn't shit but she felt it was okay to give that demon seed access to Brooklyn. They the type to beat a woman but can't stand up to another man. I wonder if Harlem did have anything to do with that situation though 🤔
I enjoyed Brooklyn and Harlem story. I'm so happy for my girl. In Sinful mind I felt so bad for her. Thank God for Mary. Mary is the girl she helped so many people. Harlem is the man. I loved their story and the different updates. I'm not reading them in order but I'm enjoying the journey.
Harlem Aunt needed to be put in her place and I was glad when he did it. Mary knew her son Ezra needed more than pray cloth and oil? Brooklyn let her guard down for Harlem to love her again.
This book was everything it gave me the closure I needed with Brooklyn and I’m so glad Tone got what he deserved but Aunt Pam needed a serious attitude adjustment Harlem was good man and loved him some Brookie
Brooklyn deserved to be happy with everything she has been through. Harlem was good for her. Mary is still a mess along with her bad kids. I’m glad everything worked out fine.
Very good read! So happy for Brookie’s HEA!! And it was such a plus to read about Mary abs Sincere!! I just knew they kids was going to be bad as heck. Lmaooo
This was so cute. I loved the way Harlem went hard cor Brooklyn was refreshing. Sometimes men let their egos get in the way. He definitely wasn't afraid to love her out loud.
Second chance love story at its finest. Harlem was the man, not afraid to admit his mistakes and love Brooklyn out loud. Loved the Mary revisit. That date scene with Raylon was hilarious. Would love a follow up!!!
It was good to see the crew again and for Brooklyn to have her HEA. Harlem was great for her; second chance love is always a beautiful thing. This author is fantastic, and I hope we update stories about the crew during the holiday times😉
I loved this book and loved how you intertwined the characters. I love me some Mary and Sincere (she always cracks me up). Great read. I would love a holiday update on them.
Thank you Jesus, Tone got what he had coming! I am so glad for second chances. Now I don't know if I would have forgave that Auntie after she lied on me. She would have never got another word out of my mouth. They had the perfect little mixed family.
Enjoyed this story. Finding you first love again on vacation. Seem like it was always meant to be. Combining two families can sometimes be a struggle. Love these two got together.
Harlem was not letting up live is so beautiful when you find the right one to love… Brooklyn deserves her prince charming and Harlem was just that great read n Mary Mary love her with her prayer cloth just shows live has no limits!!!
Beautiful story with a beautiful ending! I truly enjoyed the reconnection of Harlem and Brooklyn. Healing the heart, mind, and relationship made for an everlasting love!
