I was tracking quite nicely with Shirley until she mentioned not only the size of Jack Cassidy's penis, but the penis size of her four sons. How insensitive and disrespectful to include this information in her book, and how entirely unnecessary! I got the feeling throughout that Shirley Jones thought crass comments could only make her memoir more interesting. We were even subjected to reading about how she masturbates.
It is rare that I think less of a person after reading their memoir, so I really have to hand it to her...

TMI! I didn't really need details on how Shirley Jones masturbates, and reading that her sons and stepson all inherited their father's strong sex drive and trait of being well endowed was a bit disturbing (coming from a mom...just seemed odd). Other than going into details I didn't want to know, it was an interesting read.

I LOVED the Partridge Family growing up- so looking forward to this memoir- but it ended up being an odd highly sexed tell-all and I ended up feeling like Shirley was a woman trapped in an abusive marriage- and she didn t know it or seem to care. Disappointing....

Parts of the book are interesting and informative, and some of the insights into the way Hollywood worked/works are fresh. However most of this book is only a few steps above tabloid titillation. Do you really want to find out if Jack Cassidy is more endowed than his son David??!! Just how does Shirley like to masturbate??? It seems that's all the small town girl from Pennsylvania can talk about is her virgin wedding ( NOT ) and ongoing sex life.

This is a bizarre memoir. I listened to it on audio and Jones is a bit of a dull reader. There is some scandalous details about her sex life. But, mostly the book lacks a cohesive focus. It jumps from this happened and then that happened. Wouldn't recommend

Poorly written and egocentric. Really didn't have to expound on the sexual aspect of her life so much. Who cares?

It was entertaining and interesting to see behind the scenes of a huge part of American pop culture.

I've been reading a bunch of actress biographies lately and I'd heard this one was quite frank. I grew up loving The Partridge Family and always had something of a soft spot for Shirley Jones (even if The Brady Bunch lives on in my heart a lot more tenaciously). So I decided to pick this one up.

Turns out Shirley Jones's memoir (which I believe is just called Shirley Jones: A Memoir, but has the cover as depicted here) is a very enjoyable read. Yes, it's occasionally trashy, but all of those lurid details make this extra fun if you're game to read some really dishy, confessional stuff.

A couple of typos, but not bad on the editorial front. Demerit to Shirley for being a Republican.

I borrowed this book on CD from the public library. It was very enjoyable to hear Shirley Jones tell her story. Her voice sounded much younger than her 79 years. What an interesting and unconventional life she has had. I know her best from the Partridge Family so it was so interesting to learn about her life behind the scenes and how secure she is with her sexuality - even until this day! She seems so level headed in business and as a mother but her choices in husbands seemed to be based on some wild streak in her for adventure.

informative. interesting. decently written. fun pictures. shes pretty candid about sex and her relationships though who knows if its just her perspective. now i want to read the autobios of the other's mentioned. david and shaun. i personally was more into shaun when i was a little girl. major crush. she says he was sweet and quiet whereas david was a womanizer and showman. i guess i like the quiet type better.

Shirley Jones is a fabulous woman! I have personally met her (even got a pic with her!) and she is as sweet and sassy as you would expect. This book definitely shows more of the sassy side of her. Revelations are made that I never would have guessed at! Her relationships with Jack Cassidy and Marty Ingalls are well documented and lots of backstage gossip is there for the people who love her movies and her life as Mrs. Partridge. Be warned! She is extremely fluent in coarse language! :)

I found this to be a very fast read. I never knew she did so many movies. Even though "The Partridge Family" is said to be so popular (series of shows, own cookbook, music, etc) I have never seen the show. Only when I youtubed did I realize that yeah I had heard some of those songs before. If the show was so wonderful, why isn't it on the rerun channel like "The Brady Bunch" and "The Waltons"?

This is a book about broadway, tv, and movie star shirley jones. I didn't know her whole story about her early career and it was interesting to learn about that. She was pretty honest in her book about her love life and marriages. I would've enjoyed about learning more about her career and details of show business.

Audio book! All the way.....do the audio book. Shirley reads to you in her soothing voice. This is a honest, open account of one of the best musical stars. She's not at all like the sweeties she portrays in the musicals. She's a real woman. A Real woman with tons of talent. Do the audio book!

Yikes! Some things are really meant to stay private. Geesh :( Fantastic actress. Wish it stayed with the acting theme. p.s. Still in love with David Cassidy.
