When your enemies are desperate, that is when they are most dangerous.
Having just survived the most recent assaults, the Royal Navy hopes for a breather. Instead, their enemies have different ideas. They plan a daring attack designed to destroy the Commonwealth’s shipbuilding facilities, before the Commonwealth’s economic might overwhelms them.
With two of the Royal Navy’s five fleets destroyed, the Admiral of the Fleet must put his life on the line to blunt the enemy attack. If their enemies succeed, the war might drag on for years. The cost to stop them might be his life.
With an enemy who will stop at nothing, Perseverance and Saint John find that nowhere is safe. Even the most joyous events have the potential for tragedy. Danger can lurk in even the safest places.
The turn of the tide might be at hand, if they survive.

This series is on par with Weber's Honor Harrington. While similar in many ways the character development was detailed and engaging. The storyline had multiple victories and defeats and was well crafted overall. Highly recommend as military sciencefiction.
Great series, always exciting and entertaining!!!!!
Congratulations to John Spearman for this book in this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such an interesting and exciting author who not only writes intelligently but also provides top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories.
Well, this was a rip roaring fast paced set of space warfare books, well written and with excellent characters who are extremely well developed over the three books. Thoroughly enjoyed the addition of other characters, some developing from smaller characters into major ones, such as other fleet admirals.
Loved the trilogy…. I am hoping to read about their kids or grandkids some thirty or fifty years later in their future! But their stories are wonderful!
Caught my interest right away and the leading characters kept my focus from one battle to the next. The strategy used in combat was logical and believable. War is not pleasant and death occurs often with people and comrades who you know who have died doing remarkable things for others.
This book concludes Perseverance’s story, which was interesting and basically a decent read. However as a ‘Space Opera’ it was a bit of a disappointment. Perhaps I am being a bit harsh because the first book lulled me into the belief that Perseverance might be another ’ Honor Harrington’, but the author didn’t really get to grips with developing combat in space.
Similar in some ways to Honor Harrington, but different enough to be thoroughly enjoyable. Perhaps, a future series displaying a new protagonist with more advanced weapons built upon this same work with references to Percie & Saint John, would be equally enjoyable.
In the meantime, this series is very highly recommended.
